FLOATING ROOF - SEAL

SECONDARY SEAL TYPE „G“

The SECONDARY SEAL TYPE „G“ is a soft seal which is used to seal the rim gap between floating roof and tank

shell in tanks were white products are stored (also crude oil tanks). It reduces furthermore the evaporation losses of

a Primary Seal and annoyances caused by bad smell to a minimum by keeping out any wind influences.

Especially white products (e.g. gasoline) require this SECONDARY SEAL

TYPE „G“ because the broad sealing surface conforms very good to the tankshell and reduces the evaporation

losses to a minimum. The water retention value is good.

The sealing gasket consists of polyurethane (1,0 mm) with textile insert (antistatic and resistant to aromatics) and

an additionally wearing cover of the same material (1,0 mm). The upper side is held in grey colour to keep the rim

gap in cool place. The sealing gasket with the wearing cover is pressed to the tankshell by springs from stainless

steel (with rounded off edges) and special pressure bars from stainless steel covered with soft foam. Springs and

sealing gasket are pressed to the upper rim profile by aluminium bars. 200 ± 100 mm rim gap in the maximum can

be covered with this type of seal.

The careful selection of all the materials of this sealing system guarantees a high reliability of operation and a long

service life.
