“I am most appreciative of all your efforts. Thank you!”
Time to pass the Baton
Brethren, Brethren, as I address you for the last time, I would like to take the opportunity to thank Illustrious Brother Ben North, 33o for appoint ing me to the Council line and Illustrious Brother Roger F. Aukerman, MSA, 33o for appointing me to the bot tom of the Consistory line all those years ago. I consider it an honor to be asked to serve the Valley and I am grateful for the chance to do so.
I would ask that you join me in welcoming our newest member Brother Joe Fowler. Brother Fowler
has recently moved back to Central Illinois and I am confident that he will become an active member of
the Valley. I would also like to thank the many brethren who made this Spring Reunion possible. Wheth-
er cast, crew, registration, or the Valley office, without you, it would have been impossible, and I am most
appreciative of all your efforts. Thank you!
While during this reunion, we may have been short on candidates, we were long on memorable mo-
ments. It is truly a pleasure to work with the members of this Valley.
I want to thank Brother Jesse J. Slater, 32o, Thrice Potent Master, Brother Mike W. Tutter, 32o,
Most Wise Master and Brother Mark A. Keagle, 32o, Sovereign Prince for their support and leadership
through the last two years. I am confident that they, like me, have learned much during our time of leader-
ship.
As the time comes for the baton to be passed, I see several areas the Valley needs to address. We
continue to hold the Rite Connection activities; however, they have been met with limited attendance. As
a masonic fraternity the greatest asset we have is our members. If we don’t continually engage them by
personal contact, we have failed our membership. When we don’t reach out to them, if only by a phone
call, they will soon forget the great family of which they are a part.
Also, involving our members in activities is a great way to keep them engaged. Moving forward
we must be thoughtful in planning and advertising our events. This year we transitioned to a quarterly
newsletter which will force us to be diligent in planning our member’s activities. If we fail to plan far
enough in advance with our current schedule of the Cathedral News we will not attract the desired interest.
While we have issues to deal with, we still are a solid organization. We have been blessed with
solid and productive leadership and we benefit from the wisdom of our predecessors. If we go the extra
mile, we will fulfill the role which lies before us.
Brethren, I am grateful and humbled for the opportunity to have served you and the Valley of Bloomington as Commander-in-Chief and I pledge my support in the coming years. It has been an honor
and a privilege; I thank you!
Fraternally,
Larry E Raglan Commander-in-Chief
