Well, Brethren, it appears Spring has finally arrived and, if you are like most people,

youve ventured outside to soak up some of those warming rays. Good for you!

Many of us are busy planning for the Spring Reunion scheduled for the weekend of

April 15-16 as well as our Ring Ceremony on April 17. If you know of anyone who is

interested in joining our Spring Class, have them get in touch with our Secretary, Ill. Pete Eure,

    at 757-599-6617.

Wednesday, May 18 will find our Valley hosting the annual Ill. William M. Johnson

Memorial Golf Tournament at the Williamsburg National Golf Club. The cost is $80 per player

and the slots will sell out fast. Williamsburg National is a fantastic facility and the management

team up there is very accommodating to our needs. All the proceeds will go toward the Speech

and Childhood Language Disorders Clinic at Old Dominion University.

The Scottish Rite Picnic will be held on Saturday, June 11, at the Scottish Rite Masonic

Center. Come on out and bring your entire family.

Looking a little ahead, the Valley of Newport News will be the host Valley for the

Virginia Scottish Rite Conference. Our own Ill. Jack Smith is the President of the Conference

and I know he would appreciate the support of his Valley. Please mark your calendars and plan

to attend the Virginia Scottish Rite Conference September 23-24 at the Omni Hotel in Newport

News. More information will be provided in the next newsletter.

Brethren, the Valley of Newport News Scottish Rite very much appreciates you being a

member of the Valley and would ask that you make every effort to participate in the various

events that are held annually. Make being a Scottish Rite Mason a priority in your busy

schedule and help your Valley to grow.

Thats all the news thats available for our Valley. Have a wonderful Spring and enjoy the warmer weather.

Have you signed up to play in the Annual Ill.

    William M. Johnson Memorial Golf

    Tournament?

Have you signed up to sponsor a hole at

    the Golf Tournament?

Have you volunteered to help with

    the Golf Tournament?

Lets all do what we can to support this

major fundraising so that we can help the

children at the Speech and Childhood

Language Disorders Clinic at ODU !

  • By this time, each member of the Valley of Newport News Scottish Rite should have received

their dues notice from the Supreme Council for their 2011 dues. Several members who paid their

dues have called the office and said that the year was not shown on the current dues card. I agree

that it is hard to see, but, if you look just above the members signature line, you will see 2011. It blends in with the background. Dues are very important to the operation of any Scottish Rite

Valley, Blue Lodge, or any other Masonic organization that you may belong to. At the present time,

there are 215 members of our Valley who have not submitted their 2011 dues. That equates to

$21,500.00, which the Valley of Newport News Scottish Rite needs to operate your Scottish Rite

Masonic Center. Please check your dues card and make sure it says 2011. If you have any questions concerning your dues, please contact the office (757-599-6617) and we will see if we can

help you. We have approximately 25 to 30 members who are in arrears in their dues and are subject

to suspension for non-payment of dues. Please contact the Secretary and let me help you in

resolving the problem concerning your dues. We DO NOT want to loose anyone because of non-

    payment of dues.

Members: If you have moved and/or changed your mailing address, please let the secretary

know!!! We need your new address in order to be sure that you are receiving all correspondence

from the Valley of Newport News Scottish Rite or the Supreme Council. Please keep us up to

    date!!!

I look forward to seeing you at the next Stated Meeting where we will be remembering our

Brothers who have passed. We will be having our Remembrance and Renewal program. It will again be presented by Brother Herbert J. Smith, Jr. KCCH and his team. See you at the meeting!!
