PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE “It takes a village to raise a child”- African Proverb Wow what a term! It is important to reflect on what a wonderful term this has been as it draws to an end this Friday 5th July. Students and staff have been involved in such a wide range of activities that have enriched school life for our students. They have been involved in various sports, dance, band, public speaking, excursions and incursions, choir and recorder group performances. Term 3 commences for students on Tuesday, 23rd July. Monday, 22nd July is a designated Staff Development Day. Central Coast Dance Festival Mrs Harpur’s dance group performed last night at the Central Coast Dance Festival. Mrs Turner’s group are performing on Wednesday night. Congratulations, to all our dance groups for your commitment and enthusiasm. Central Coast Dance Festival supports the development of performing arts skills of students and promotes an appreciation of the arts. Thank you to staff, students and parents for supporting such a wonderful event. Semester 1 Reports As I read the Semester 1 reports, it has been wonderful to see the gains that the children have made over the first half of the year. Both students and staff have worked hard throughout the semester. Each student should be very proud of their achievements and endeavour to set themselves new learning goals for second semester. I would like to remind parents that staff at Valley View Public School are accessible for parent interviews throughout the year. If you are concerned about your child’s progress at any time, please contact your child’s teacher for an appointment to discuss your concerns. Student reports will be going home on Thursday, 4th July. Kindergarten Enrolment 2020 We are now accepting Kindergarten enrolment applications for 2020. If you or a friend have a child, who turns five before 31st July now is the time to enrol. For an application to enrol, please contact the school office. You will need to bring your child’s birth certificate or passport, current immunisation and proof of address. PBL Rewards Day Congratulations to all our students who will be participating in the PBL rewards day this coming Thursday. Thank you, to Mrs Anderson and the PBL team for your hard work. Staffing News Congratulations, to Mr Chad Wootton who will be joining our wonderful teaching team at Valley View Public as a permanent teacher. NCCD DATA COLLECTION The NCCD is an annual collection of information about Australian school students with disability. The aim of the national data collection is to collect quality information about school students receiving an adjustment due to disability in Australia. The NCCD enables schools, education authorities and governments to better understand the needs of students with disability and how they can be best supported at school. Schools are required to make reasonable adjustments, where needed, to assist students with disability to access and participate in education free from discrimination and on the same basis as other students. This approach is based on the professional judgement of teachers about their students and the level of reasonable adjustments needed that draws on the broad definition of disability under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005. The data provided to the Australian Government by the NSW Department of Education is provided in such a way that it cannot be used to identify individual students or schools. For more information, please contact the school. Learning Support Team ( Mr Chad Wootton, Mrs Marg Suanning , Mrs Lori Gibson, Mrs Fiona Curtis

WOOLWORTHS EARN & LEARN This year, Valley View will be collecting the Woolworths Earn & Learn stickers. These stickers help our school get new equipment and resources. So the more stickers we collect, the more equipment we can get! There are three steps to follow: 1. SHOP—For every $10 you spend at Woolworths you’ll get an Earn & Learn sticker. 2. COLLECT— Collect as many stickers as you can between now and 25th June. 3. GIVE—Give your stickers to our school so we can redeem them for new equipment. We have a collection box located in the front office where you can put your stickers. We also have the sticker booklets that you can collect from the office to stick your stickers on!

OFFICE NEWS

Procedures for payments to school and notes:

Students must bring money to the office in the morning, there is a box on the front counter that they can put their money in.

Parents please remember to:

Put money in an envelope or a plastic bag

Clearly print your child’s name, class, and purpose for the payment on the outside of the envelope or bag. Loose money does not get accounted for because we do not know who it belongs to!

We appreciate your help.

Nicole Dorratt School Administration Manager

Medication needs to be given to the school with a medicine cup/syringe in the bottle or packet with the prescription label on it. You will also need to complete a form that the office will give you. As per Department policy, we are unable to give over the counter medication at school unless it is prescribed by a doctor, and has a letter from the doctor containing the information as shown above. This is a legal Department policy.
