Valve Types

• Gate valves, Ball valves, & Choke valves.• Gate valve: used on oil producer wellhead tree. (2 manufacturers Gray &

Cameron).

• Ball valve: only by Cameron.

• Choke valve: 2 designs: one like arrow & the other cylinder with holes.

• SSV & SSSV & UG: used to automatically shut off the production form (tubing below the surface, or wellhead on surface, or flowline).

• Different manufacturers: Otis, Barber, and AVA. (some need panel to control “old” and other new designs are self contained.

Safety Valves – Subsurface & Surface

• Surface controlled sub surface safety valves are either ball valve type or flapper type.

• They can be either tubing retrievable or wireline retrievable

Power Water Injector

• Option 1: no tubing spool because there is no tubing in some power water injectors.

• Option 2: with tubing spool (no picture) because they need tubing and packer in the injection well.
