THE VANCOUVER POLICE MOBILE COMMAND CENTRE

The men and women of the Vancouver Police Department have long been committed to going “Beyond the Call” to ensure the welfare and safety of Vancouver Citizens.

The Vancouver Police new Mobile Command Centre (MCC) will be a valuable resource, helping the VPD coordinate effective deployment, tactical support, search operations, communication needs and add extra protection to the citizens of Vancouver and members of the VPD at the most crucial of times. This flagship vehicle will also augment the City’s emergency management, fire and medical services response capabilities. In the event of civil emergency requiring multi-agency response, the MCC can be used to help coordinate police efforts with other agencies and provide direct communications. Ultimately, the MCC will save lives.

The purchase of the VPD Mobile Command Centre was made possible through the generous support of the Vancouver Police Foundation members and donors, and was funded in part by a $500,000 grant from the Vancouver Police Foundation.

VANCOUVER POLICE FOUNDATION

The Vancouver Police Foundation’s goal is to provide funding for innovative policing projects and inspiring community outreach programs that save lives, prevent crime and help apprehend suspects. We also strive to increase awareness about the everyday heroic actions of the men and women of the Vancouver Police Department.

VANCOUVER POLICE FOUNDATION GRANT AWARDS CEREMONY

The bravery and dedication that the men and women of the VPD show each and every day to protect the citizens and businesses of Vancouver are only part of the story of the VPD’s exceptional commitment to our city. Each year, hundreds of VPD officers engage in and contribute thousands of off-duty hours to worthy causes and programs in our communities.

To date, the Vancouver Police Foundation has given out over $2.5 million in support of these policing projects and programs not included in the annual operating budget of the VPD. Funds are disbursed to projects under the direct control of the VPD, or to an outside organization that has developed a strong relationship with the Vancouver Police Department.
