Come grow with us…

Page 2: @VASD K12 Come grow with us… · in the teacher career ladder, we are focused on your growth and development. Digitally Connected – Every student at VASD has been provided an iPad

VASD looks for talented and skilled individuals who have a passion for student success. We have high expectations for our staff, but strive to

provide above-average compensation and benefits to attract the best and brightest.

The school district is one of the 30 largest districts in the state and is proud of our growing diversity, with 32 languages represented throughout its 11 schools. More than 25% of our students are students of color.

Learn and Grow – From new teacher mentor programs and paid professional development, to reimbursement for graduate coursework, emphasis on personalized learning and a salary schedule that recognizes growth in the teacher career ladder, we are focused on your growth and development.

Digitally Connected – Every student at VASD has been provided an iPad for their learning. Our T3 Initiative (Transforming Teaching thru Technology) provides teachers with a district MacBook Air along with up to 25 hours of professional development on how to leverage technology in the classroom.

Feedback – Once hired, expect consistent feedback from your supervisor, as VASD principals have an average of 16 years experience. This dynamic coaching feedback will help you achieve your personal goals and aspirations--you’ll be actively engaged in making a difference for kids!

Wellness and a Life Well Lived – Our workforce is healthier than most in the area (documented in annual health risk surveys) and we emphasize well being so you can be present and available. Join Vfitt (Verona Fitness in This Together) and participate in exercise, nutrition, mindfulness and social activities with your colleagues. Bike on the Military Ridge Trail, swim for free at the VASD Natatorium, and run/hike on the National Ice Age Trail.

What We Offer...

•Equity: We will act to eliminate gaps and barriers between our mission and the policies, practices, and structures that may perpetuate systemic inequities. In addition, we seek to remove the predictability of success and failure that currently correlates with any social or cultural factor.•Excellence: We will ensure all students have access to rigorous content at or above grade level.•Engagement and Expectations: We will develop knowledge, attitudes, skills and practices to create learning environments and opportunities that expect and support high achievement for all students.•Empowerment: We will create sustainable partnerships in supporting academic achievement for all students.

Actions

Outcomes•Every student in VASD has a personalized learning plan that provides a path to discovery and achievement and that plan is reviewed and changed at least annually based on the student’s needs.•Every student’s parent, guardian or advocate participates directly in the design, implementation, and outcomes of that student’s personalized learning plan.•Every student meets or exceeds the goals of his or her personalized learning plan every school year.•Every VAHS student graduates and achieves their choice of college and career path, as detailed in their personalized learning plan.
