Vashon island is a rural paradise in Puget Sound served by ferries from three mainland points- West Seattle, Tacoma and Southworth. It is home to many artists and musicians, as well as eques-trians, sheepdog trainers, organic farmers and folks who commute to Seattle and Tacoma for work. Camp Burton

Camp Burton, established in 1909, is a residen-tial camp and historic retreat center located on the Burton peninsula of Vashon Island. It has 20 acres of woodlands, cabins, lodges and 800’ of waterfront. www.campburton.com

How to Apply To sign up for Vashon Island String Camp, fill out the application form, detach and mail to Rowena Hammill at 21405 Tramp Harbor Rd SW, Vashon, WA, 98070, enclosing a $75 check payable to Vashon Chamber Music to reserve your spot. We have a limit of 12 participants, so don’t delay! The balance will be due by June 15th.

We are happy to welcome string players ages 14 and up who have had at least three years of pri-vate lessons. Our faculty is comfortable working with students of all different levels of ability and experience. Whatever level you arrive at, you will leave a better player!

Join our distinguished faculty for 5 full days of lessons, pri-vate practice, master classes, concerts, technique classes, chamber music and … FUN!!!

Schedule The daily schedule will include private lessons, individual practice, master classes, technique classes and string quartets. Evenings will be spent in leisure activities at camp or around the island and attending the Vashon Chamber Music Festival concerts on August 11th and 14th. There will a culminating camp performance on Sunday.

Dates: August 9-14, 2016.

Cost: $850, includes tuition, room and board, Fes-tival concert admission. Rooms are triple occu-pancy. Double or single occupancy can be arranged for a supplemental fee.
