File size limit: 100 KB.

File formats: gif, png, jpg or ico

VBox allows you to easily choose and customize your favorite logo for each channel.

7.3. Program Guide

37

7.3 Program Guide

Program guide is collected by the VBox TV Gateway and shared between the different player devices, there are two main program guide sources

2. External source – the VBox can receive guide from a standard XMLTV source located on the network or internet

Figure 30: Program Guide

7.3.1 Live Signal

The VBox collects the guide transmitted over the air by the broadcaster in a standard DVB-EIT form.

7.3.1.1 Setting the number of days

You can set the number of days that the guide will be collected, this is limited by both the number of days that are actually provided by the broadcaster as well program guide duration setting.

Please note that the adding above 7 days may result in a large program guide database that may slow some applications.

7.3.2 Live Signal with Channel Pairing

Program guide that is provided by the broadcaster in a nonstandard way will be presented as “Sting format not supported” on the TV Guide grid

Channel pairing allows coping the guide from one channel on to another, this can be used in cases where channels with the same scheduling are provided with limited program guide on one of the channels

7.3.2.1 Pairing Channels

Once selecting Live Signal with Channel pairing option two tables listing all the channels will be presented at the bottom of the page.

You can press the Auto Match channel this will attempt to link similar channels.

If Auto match is not available or you would like to match additional channels you can set the pairing manually.

The table on the left side is the matching table, select your channel guide source on the table on the right and use the arrows to link the source with the destination channel,

The channel backgrownd color will change indicating that this channel is already paired, however you can pair the same channel source with multiple destination channels

Once you complete the matching press the Sync Guide Now button located under the Program Guide Source table.

7.3.3 External XMLTV (beta)

XMLTV is a standard used to transfer a program guide. You can import a standard XMLTV found on your network or from an internet source.

Depending on your broadcaster and location there are many XMLTV sources available online.

If you are using Windows 10, please note that since Windows 10 September 2017 update, SMB1 is disabled. As VBox files system for managing external files such as XML stored on NAS or a computer library works with SMB1, it is necessary to enable it. Please refer to our guide on How to enable SMB1 from Windows 10 (chapter/section 14.3).

There are two ways to create an External XML TV path, using the Wizard or doing it manually. Below explains how to do it using the Wizard, if you would like to do manually please refer to our guide on How to set an External XML TV path manually (chapter/section 14.4).

4. Channel matching is identical to the matching process described in Channel Pairing

5. Once the matching process is completed, the VBox will import the guide data and will update the data once a day according to the preset time.
