CHAPTER 1

ACCESS____________________________________________________________

1. ACCESS

The control panel has 3 separate access levels with access level 1 being available touser without entry of a special password. Each access level has its own operatingcriteria as shown in figure 1.0, which restricts operation of the panel by the user. Levels2 and 3 can only be accessed by entry of a separate user password, the password isaccessed via operation of the numeric keys on the membrane fascia.

When the control panel is operating correctly the LCD will display a Status Normalmessage, as shown in figure 1.1, and the “Power On” green status led will beilluminated.

To gain entry into the required access level, levels 2 or 3, operate any numeric key onceand the password prompt will appear on the display as shown in figure 1.2. Enter therequired access level password number and then operate the Enter key, the passwordentry requires a four digit number. Once selected the panel will then verify the entry,which will either be accepted or rejected. Each operation of a membrane key will beconfirmed by a short operation of the internal panel buzzer and entry of the number willbe shown on the display as a “#”, for security reasons.

Upon acceptance of the entered password the control panel will request an entry of anumeric key, upon which the options which are capable of being selected at theselected access level will be displayed as per figure 1.0. Figure 1.3 shows the top levelmenu features which are capable of being selected when access level 3 password isselected.

1.1 Silence Buzzer

Upon activation of the internal panel buzzer operation of the Silence Buzzer membranekey will deactivate the buzzer. When the key is operated a text message will bedisplayed for a short time period confirming the operation as shown in figure 1.4.

When an alarm activation occurs on the control panel and the activation has timers T1and T2 programmed, operation of the Silence Buzzer key will affect the operation. Operation while timer T1 is counting down will cause timer to be accepted which willthen initiate timer T2. While timer T2 is counting down each operation of SilenceBuzzer will extend the countdown of the timer in 10 second increments to a maximumof 600 seconds. Extending T2 will cause the display to confirm that the timer has beenextended by showing a “Timers Extended” message.

1.2 Scroll

When more than one activation is indicated on the control panel operation of the Scrollmembrane key will allow the activation’s to be shown on the display. Each operationof the Scroll key will step through to the next activation in sequence of operation, thiswill be for the selected area only. Once the last activation has been displayed operationof Scroll key will continue to display from the first activation.

1.3 Silence Alarms

Operation of the Silence Alarms membrane key is only accessible at either access level2 or 3 when operated a confirmation message will be shown on the display. Operationwill cause any audible alarms, any outputs which may of been programmed todeactivate and cancel the operation of the countdown timers T1 and T2.

When an alarm condition is present on the control panel operation of this key will causethe pulsing Alarm and relevant Zonal LEDS to operate in a constant mode. If theSilence Buzzer key has not been operated then operation of the Silence Alarms key willcause the internal panel buzzer to operate intermittently.

The Panel Reset membrane key will not be capable of being operated until the SilenceAlarm key has been operated.

1.4 Reset

Operation of the Reset membrane key is only accessible at access levels 2 and 3. When operated any activation which is existing on the control panel will be cleared andStatus Normal will be reinstated.

1.5 Delay Override

The operation of the Delay Override is accessible at access level 1, and will whenoperated override the operation of any time delays which have been programmed tothe panel (timers 0, 1 and 2). When operated a confirmation message will bedisplayed and the relevant countdown timer will then be cancelled.

1.6 Evacuate

When the evacuate membrane key is operated the sounder circuits and other outputswhich are programmed to operate will activate. The display will have a confirmationmessage of the operation as shown in figure 1.5

When in the Evacuate mode the output operation will remain until the silence Alarmsmembrane key has been operated. Operation of the Evacuate membrane key, whilea priority alarm has been activated, will cause the display to confirm the operation asshown in figure 1.6, which will remain until deactivation.

1.7 Enter Key (↵↵↵↵ )

In Status Normal operation the Enter membrane Key will be used for the acceptanceof numeric data, access of menu selections and accepting the setting of systeminformation. During priority alarm activations the Enter membrane push button will beused for the viewing of individual device data as shown in figure 1.6.

1.8 Cancel Key (→→→→)

Operation of the Cancel membrane key will cancel/deselect the present accessmenu selection and continued operation will eventually return the display to accesslevel 1. While the internal panel printer is printing operation of the Cancel key willcause a prompt message to be displayed, this can only be operated while in accesslevels 2 and 3. The message will request “Cancel Print ?” operation of Enter willcause the printer to stop where as Cancel will continue the operation of the printer.

1.9 Numeric keys (0 to 9)

The numeric keys are mainly used to select the access level password number asdescribed in Access section (section 1.0). The numeric keys can be used to selectmenu level options and the inputting of system data. To select the required menuoption press the number required and the highlight will move to the correspondingoption i.e. LIST = 1 and TEST = 4, operation of the Enter Key will access the menu.

1.10 Arrow Keys

The arrow keys UP, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT are used for the selection of theaccess level menus, selection of activation’s, viewing priority pending activation’sand also for the programming of the control panel parameters. The control panelsdisplay will give basic operating instructions on how the arrow keys can be used.

ISOLATE MENU

2. ISOLATE

As explained in section 1.0 figure 1.0, upon the selection of the ISOLATE menu featureit will be possible to select from the sub menu features as shown in figure 2.0. Thesesub menus can be selected by operation of either the arrow keys or by operation of thecorresponding numeric key and confirming the selection by operation of the Enter key(↵ ).

2.1 Zones

To isolate a specific zone a zone number is required to be entered at the prompt, onceselected the display will list the zones starting from the requested zone number asshown in figure 2.1.

While the zone is in the normal status operation of the Enter key will alter the “Norm”status of the selected zone to “ISOLATED”, this will be displayed for a short timeperiod. Upon the selection of isolation the common isolate and the relevant zonal ledwill illuminate. After the short time period for the display of the “ISOLATED” text thedisplay will revert to “Isol” which will pulse until the zone is returned to its “Norm” statusas shown in figure 2.2.

To return the isolated zone to its normal operating status, “Norm”, operate the Enter keyon the required zone which is Isolated and a confirmation message of “DE-ISOLATED”will appear. Repeated operation of the Cancel key will return the display through themenu selections and continued operation will return the panel to access level 1 wherethe display will show a devices isolated message as shown in figure 2.3.

2.2 Loop Devices

When selected the display will show the 2 options which are available as shown infigure 2.4. The required option can be highlighted by operation of the arrow keys andwhen correct the Enter key (←) will enter the selected option.

2.2.1 Single Device

To isolate a single device the display will request an entry of a loop number, which willbe via the appropriate numeric key(s) and accepted by operation of the Enter key. Operation of the Enter key will then request selection of the Device number which willalso be entered by use of the appropriate numeric key as shown in figure 2.5.

When the device has been selected operation of the Enter key will cause a list of deviceinformation to appear starting with the selected device number. By use of the arrowkeys the required device maybe highlighted as shown in figure 2.6.

the next device to be selected. Operation of the Cancel key will cause this selectionto be cancelled and revert to the menu selection.

Upon Isolation of the device the common Isolate and device isolate LEDs will beilluminated. To reinstate a device from isolation the procedure has to be repeated butthe on screen message will show “De-Isolate?” when the Enter key is operated uponan existing isolated device.

2.2.2 Device Range

When Selected the display will request for a loop, start device and end device numberto be selected as shown in figure 2.7.

Once entered a choice of “ISOLATE” or “DE-ISOLATE” is requested, by operation ofthe arrow keys the required option can be selected. The selection of either option willnot depend upon the current status of the device i.e. if devices are already isolated andthe “isolate” option is made the devices will remain isolated.

If the isolation of a range of devices covers a full zone then the relevant zonal led willbe lit, if however the selection does not cover a full zone then the device isolate led willbe lit. Operation of the isolate will cause the common isolate led to illuminate.Operation of the Cancel key will return the display through the menu selections andcontinued operation will return the panel to access level 1, where the display will showa devices isolated message as shown in figure 2.3.

2.3 Output Group

Isolation and De-isolation of Output Groups is similar in format to that of Zones as persection 2.1, the significant difference is that the “Zone” reference is replaced with“Group”. When an Output is isolated the “Common Isolate" and “Output Isolate” LEDSwill be illuminated. Repeated operation of the Cancel key will return the displaythrough the menu selections and continued operation will return the panel to accesslevel 1 where the display will show a devices isolated message as shown in figure 2.3.

Upon selection of this menu option the display will show the sub menu options asshown in figure 2.8. The required option can be highlighted by operation of the arrowkeys and when correct the Enter key will enter the selected option menu.

2.4.1 BLC Outputs

Upon selection of this menu option the display will automatically list the sounder andrelay circuits which are positioned within the main panel located upon the master andslave basic loop controllers, this quantity is dependent by the panel setup. The listingwill start from the first sounder on the master basic loop controller and by operation ofthe arrow keys the individual outputs can be selected as per figure 2.9. The operationis similar to the selection of the zone as described in section 2.1.

When a VFCO output is isolated the “Common” and “Output Isolate" LEDS willilluminate and when the display reverts to access level 1 the display will be as per figure3.3. When ever a sounder circuit is isolated the “Sounder Fault” LED and “CommonIsolate” LEDS will illuminate constantly signifying a sounder circuit is isolated.

Operation of the Cancel key will return the display through the menu selections andcontinued operation will return the panel to access level 1 where the display will showa devices isolated message as shown in figure 2.1.

Upon selection of this option a motherboard address and channel is requested to beentered, upon selection the display will list the motherboard information. By use of thearrow keys the required channel maybe selected by highlighting the position and thenoperating the ENTER key to either isolate or deisolate, dependant upon its presentstatus.

2.5 Plant

Upon the selection of this menu option and if the plant indications have not been setupwithin the “Panel Setup” menu selection a message will appear stating “Plants are notenabled”. When the plants have been setup the isolate and de-isolate procedure forthe plant indications is similar in format to that of Zones as section 2.1, however theonly difference is that the zone reference is replaced with “Plant”.

When an Output has been isolated the “Common Isolate” and “Device Isolate" LEDSwill be lit and when the display reverts to access level 1 the display will be as per figure2.3

Operation of the Cancel key will return the display through the menu selections andcontinued operation will return the panel to access level 1 where the display will showa devices isolated message as shown in figure 2.3.

2.6 Local Buzzer

Selection of this option will allow the internal panel buzzer to be either isolated ordeisolated, when isolated the buzzer will not operate for any activation that occurs onthe control panel. To enable the isolate a time setting for the isolation period isrequested as shown in figure 2.10, this setting is in minutes with a maximum setting of 120 minutes.

Selection of the time can be achieved by operation of either the arrow keys or operationof the numeric keys. Once the required time has been selected operation of the Enterkey will accept the setting, only if it is within the parameters of 1-120 minutes. If thetime selection is acceptable then operation of the Enter key will cause the “CommonIsolate” LED to be illuminated which will remain illuminated until the setting expires oris cancelled.

When isolated, the isolation can only be cancelled by either the expiry of the time delayor by selecting the Buzzer Isolate menu option and de-isolating at the displayed prompt.At the displayed “De-isolate buzzer” prompt operation of the Enter key will cancel theisolation where as the Cancel key will continue with the buzzer isolate.

LIST

3.0 LIST

The entry into access level 3 is detailed in section 1.0, upon the selection of the Listmenu feature it will be possible to select any of the sub menu features as detailed infigure 3.0. These sub menus can be selected by operation of either the arrow keys orby the corresponding numeric key and confirming the selection by operating the Enterkey.

The format of listing will be dependent upon whether the internal panel printer has beenselected within the panel set-up menu selection, refer to section 4.4.1 for information. When a sub menu is selected it will be possible to make a selection as shown in figure3.1. If the panel printer is not set-up then the selection shown in figure 3.1 will not bedisplayed and the information will only be available on the panel display.

The print only selection will automatically print the selected information, where as thedisplay only option will show the information on the panel display. With the display onlyoption the arrow keys will enable the scrolling of the information by highlighting eachinformation line.

3.1 Zone

Upon selection the display will show two options which are available within this selectionas shown in figure 3.2. The required option can be highlighted by operation of eitherthe relevant numeric key or by operation of the arrow keys. When the selection iscorrect operation of the Enter key will then enter the highlighted selected option.

This option selection will list all of the zone information, the listing will give the zonenumber, text and the status i.e. if it is isolated “I” as shown in figure 3.3 .

3.1.2 Zone Information

Upon selection a request for the zone number will be made, once selected the zoneand device information will be displayed as shown by figure 3.4.

Figure 3.4 The Zone information will include the timer settings for T1, T2 and the override status, operation of the arrow keys will only scroll the device information. The deviceinformation includes the current status of the listed devices. Operation of the arrowkeys will scroll the device information by highlighting each line, the Cancel key willreturn the display through the menu selections and continued operation will return thepanel to access level 1.

3.2 Loop Devices

Upon selection of this menu option a list of sub menu options will appear which arecapable of being selected as shown in figure 3.5.

These sub menus feature can be selected by operation of either the arrow keys or byoperation of the corresponding numeric key and confirming the selection by operationof the ENTER key.

3.2.1 Single Loop

Selection requests a loop number to be entered and once entered the display will showthe total of devices attached to the selected loop. Upon the operation of any key thedisplay will show the information on the devices attached to the selected loop as shownin figure 3.6.

3.2.3 Forward and Reverse Scan

This option is only available at access level 3 and is used when a loop fault occurs andis a convenient diagnostic tool to locate the position of a potential short or open circuit. Selection of either option will request an entry of a loop number, once selected thecontrol panel will scan the loop in the selected direction. The control panel will thendisplay the quantity of detectors scanned in the selected direction and upon operationof any key the devices will be displayed as shown in figure 3.6.

3.2.4 Analogue Value

Selection of this option which is available at access level 3, allows all applicable deviceswhich are attached to the control panel loop(s) to have their analogue values read. Once entered a request for another option, as shown in figure 3.8, will be displayed. The required option can be highlighted by operation of the arrow keys and whencorrect the Enter key will enter the selected option.

Device Range

This selection is similar in operation to that of section 3.2.2 with the exception of theanalogue and fire values, which will also be displayed as shown in figure 3.9. Single Device Value

Selection allows an individual loop device to be scanned for its real time analoguevalue. Once selected the information will be continually displayed and updated until itis cancelled. The loop, device and sub address numbers require inputting before theinformation can be displayed as shown in figure 3.10.

3.2.5 Loop Current

Selection of this option, which is at access level 3, will List the loop current for eachloop that is attached to the control panel. The information is displayed in “mA” andallows the user to gauge the loop current available for the addition of devices whichrequire loop current. Operation of the arrow keys will scroll the information for eachloop on the display. When viewing is completed operation of the Cancel key will quitthe display to the menu and continued operation will return the panel to access level 1. The maximum allowable output loop current is 220mA. 3.2.6 Loop Integrity

Selection of this option will list the quantity of fault conditions which have occurred oneach loop of the control panel since the last occurrence of Panel Reset, as shown infigure 3.11. For further information refer to the General Specification manual.

3.3.1 All Groups

When selected the display will request for a start and end group number to be selectedby use of either the arrow or numeric keys and operating Enter when the selection iscomplete. When entered the display will list the group information which has beenprogrammed into the control panel. Operation and display is similar in format to the ListAll Zones option as in section 3.1.1. The main difference is that the zone text isreplaced with “Group” text.

3.8.3 Fault Codes

This option is a maintenance aid, which is only available at access level 3. Whenselected this option will list the fault reference codes and their descriptions, as shownin figure 3.26. During a device fault a reference code is displayed, this option allows thefault code to be cross referenced allowing evaluation of the fault.

3.8.4 Logon faults

This option will allow the user to view the cause of a logon fault which may haveoccurred after a panel reboot or operation of an autolearn. Logon on faults are raisedif the quantity of detectors has been altered or if device types have been changed. 3.8.5 Configuration Fault

This option will allow the user to view the cause of a configuration fault which may haveoccurred after a down load of information from the VIPER software package. Configuration faults will be raised if the information down loaded from the VIPER doesnot match the information stored in the control panels memory. Configuration faults areraised when a device type from the Viper does not match that of the type stored withinthe panels memory. Upon selection of this menu option the display will request aselection of a loop number as shown in figure 3.29.

SET MENUS 4. SET MENU

Selection of the Set menu feature will allow the selection of the sub menu option asshown in figure 4.0. These sub menus feature can be selected by operation of eitherthe arrow keys or by operation of the corresponding numeric key and confirmingselection by operation of the Enter key.

4.1 Time and Date

This selection allows the time and date to be entered into the control panel. The timeand date can be selected by operation of the arrow keys and/or the numeric keys andconfirming the selection by operation of the Enter key. As the information is enteredinto the last position of the line operation of the Enter key will cause the next entry lineto appear.

When entering information into the time and date lines entry of a two figured numbervia the numeric keys will move directly to the next entry position. If a single number isentered operation of the Enter key will then move to the next position.

The existing time and date information will be displayed at the top of the display andeach line will appear with the existing time setting. On either of the time and date linesif an incorrect numeric selection has been made then operation of the left arrow key willallow the user to return to the incorrect number and modify it as required.

The time may also be entered via operation of the arrow keys, operation of the up anddown arrow keys the will increment or decrement the setting and operation of the Enterkey will accept the hour setting and move to the minutes.

Operation of the Left or Right arrow keys will select the “Time style” format byhighlighting the position and operating the Enter key upon the required format. Whenthe last entry of selection of the year has been completed operation of the Enter key willaccept the new information and return the display to the menu selection. Operation ofthe Cancel key at any point will cancel this menu option and return to the menuselection.

4.2 Printer Status

This selection will depend upon whether the panel printer has been selected within thePanel Setup, refer to section 4.4.1.6 for set up information. If it has not been setupthen when selected a warning message stating that the panel printer has not beeninstalled will be displayed. When the printer has been setup upon selection the panelwill display the current status of the printer and the enable/disable options as shown infigure 4.2.

The display will show the current status of the printer and also the opposite selectionstatus position will be highlighted. Operation of the Enter key will accept the highlightedoption. A confirmation signal will be given by the printer when the selection has beenmade. 4.3 Activate Day Mode

This selection is a “YES” or “NO” selection, the “NO” position will be highlighted andoperation of the arrow keys will select the “YES” option. Operation of the Enter key willcause a confirmation signal to be displayed as shown in figure 4.3.

For this operation to operate correctly the “Day mode stop” time requires setting asexplained in section 4.4.1.10. 4.4.1 Panel Setup

This option will allow the setting up of control panel parameters as shown in figure 4.6. By use of the arrow keys the required position can be highlighted and then operationof the Enter key will select the option. When selected the programmable area will become highlighted as shown in figure 4.6.

The company message text can be changed by use of the membrane keys, the line isselected using the enter key and the cursor character can be altered using the up anddown arrow keys. The cursor position is controlled using the right and left arrows keys.

When the line entry is completed, operation of the Enter key will confirm the selection,where as operation of the Cancel key will return the display to the main menu. Continued operation of the Cancel key will cause the menu selections to be quit andreturn the panel to it status normal display.

Company Message (Lines 1 and 2)

These lines default to the Kidde Fire Protection company name and panel description. These lines are capable of being programmed with user text. The programmed textwill, once programmed, be displayed in place of the default text, refer to section 4.5.2for text programming information. To have the company message displayed the installlogo has to set accordingly as described in section 4.4.1.2.

Install Logo

This selection is default to the “YES” position which will display the Kidde FireProtection logo. By operating the Enter key and by use of the arrow keys the settingcan be altered to the “NO” selection. Once set operation of the Enter key will acceptthe setting and allow the next position to be selected. When set to the “NO” positionthe Kidde logo will no longer be displayed and the assigned company message will bedisplayed in its place.

Date Program Changed

This is an automatic operation carried out by the control panel and is not selectable. The update occurs when panel programming parameters have been altered in anyway.

Loop Quantity

This selection will allow the loop quantity to be set for which the panel is controlling, thissetting is automatically set when the panel carries out its initial loggon procedure. Uponselection operation of the arrow keys will increment or decrement the numeric valuesfor the range of 1 to 16, refer to table 1.0 for information. The setting of the loops needto be set to the maximum number of loops for the control panel. When the setting iscorrect operation of the Enter key will accept the selection and allow the selection of thenext position. Operation of the Cancel key will return the setting to its original state andallow the selection of the next position within the panel setup option.

Protocol

This selection sets the type of protocol which is being used on the control panel. Whenselected operation of the arrow keys will alter the protocol setting. The position willdefault to “Apollo” and the allowable settings are “Hochiki” and “Nittan”. When correctoperation of Enter will accept the protocol setting. Operation of the Cancel key willreturn the setting to its original state and allow the selection of the next position.

Install Printer

This position is a “YES” or “NO” selection, the default setting for this position is “NO”which will not allow the printer to be selected or operate in any way as explained insection 4.2. By operation of the arrow keys the setting can be altered, the requiredsetting can be confirmed by the operation of Enter key. Operation of the Cancel keywill return the setting to its original state and allow selection of the next position.

Fire Zones

This position is default to “24” and by operation of the arrow keys the quantity can bealtered to the settings of either “56”, “88” or “120”. When correct operation of Enter keywill accept the setting where as operation of the Cancel key will return the setting to itsoriginal state and allow selection of the next position. Once selected the control panelwill allow the information to be allocated to the selected number of zones.

Plant Indications

This position is a “YES” or “NO” selection, the default setting for this position is “NO”which will not allow the plant indications (1-64) to be selected or programmed. Byoperation of the arrow keys the setting can be altered, the required setting can beconfirmed by the operation of Enter key. Operation of the Cancel key will return thesetting to its original state and allow selection of the next position.

Uponentry of the incorrect number operation of the arrow key will allow the user to return tothe incorrect position and modify it as required.

The time may also be entered via operation of the arrow keys will allow entry of thetime, by operation of the up and down arrow keys the setting will increment ordecrement. Operation of the Enter key will accept the hours and minutes settings andfurther operation will return to the setup selection. Operation of the Cancel key, at anytime, will revert the setting to its original setting and allow the next position to beselected.

Pre Silence Delay

This selection will cause a time delay to be set which will inhibit the operation of theSilence alarms membrane key. The default setting is “000” and when selected therequired delay time can be assigned. The required delay time can be entered using thearrow keys which will increment or decrement the time setting in 10 second intervals. By operation of the number keys it is possible to select the required time can be set. If the time value Is not within its default settings, 0 to 300 seconds, the time will notbe accepted until a valid time is entered. When the required time has been selectedoperation of the Enter key will accept the setting , where as operation of Cancel willrevert the setting to its original value. Operation of either of the keys will allow the nextposition to be selected.

D.A.V Time (Device Alarm Validation T0)

This selection allows a validation time to be set against non latching assigned devices. This validation time is for any device activation which are not set at priorities 0 and 1. When in operation any activation will cause the control panel to check the activationof a device is correct.

When selected the time can be entered using the arrow keys which will increment ordecrement the time setting in 1 second intervals. By operation of the numeric keys itis possible to select the required time. If the time value is not within its default settingsof 0 to 60 the time will not be accepted until a valid time is entered. When the requiredtime has been selected operation of the Enter key will accept the setting , where asoperation of Cancel will revert the setting to its original value. Operation of either of thekeys will allow the next position to be selected.

Recal Time

The setting of this parameter is similar in operation as the “Day mode stop” option, refer to section 4.4.1.10 for details. This option will not effect the operation of theApollo detectors, but will cause the panel to carry out configuration checks of the controlpanel at the allocated time every day. The recalibration time selection will default to 4am and once altered the recalibration will be carried out at the allocated time. Duringthe calibration time the control panel carries out various checks, which is protocoldependant, on the connected loop devices.

LCD Backlight On

This position is a “YES” or “NO” selection, the default setting for this position is “NO”which will allow the LCD backlight to turn off after a 2 minute time period of inactivity. When set to the “YES” position the LCD backlight will be illuminated constantly. Selection can be made by operation of the arrow keys, when the correct option isdisplayed the Enter key will accept the setting. Operation of the Cancel key will returnthe setting to its original state and allow selection of the next position.

Active Repeaters

This selection is used to inform the control panel the quantity of repeaters which areattached to the control panel which have user controls. The number requires to be thehighest repeater address which is attached to the control panel. Upon selection thenumeric value can be altered by use of either the numeric keys or via the arrow keys. Once the correct numeric value has been altered the Enter key will accept the settingand allow the selection of the next line. Operation of the cancel key when within theselection will return the original value and quit from the selection and allow the nextselection of the next line.

Repeater Printers

This option allows for the internal printer of the repeater panels to operate form acommand transmitted from the main control panel. This selection will need to be setwhen any of the repeater panels on the system has a printer installed. This option isa YES or NO selection and will default NO which will not allow printer within therepeater panels to operate. By operation of the Enter key the relevant setting maybeselected, when set to YES this will enable the printers within the repeaters to operate. Once the correct setting is selected the Enter key will accept the setting and allowselection of the next line. Operation of the cancel key when within the selection willreturn the original value and quit from the selection and allow the next selection of thenext line.

Serial Ports 1 to 5

Operation of the arrow keys will display the available serial ports as shown in figure 4.8,this option is yet to be designated.

4.4.2 Zone Fire Information

Upon selection a zone number is requested to be entered. Once entered a listing ofzones and their associated text will appear on the display starting from the selectedzone number. By use of the arrow keys the required zone can be highlighted and thenoperation of the Enter key will access the selected zone information as shown in figure4.10.

Use of the arrow keys will select the linerequired, once highlighted operation of the Enter key will access the line and therelevant information can then be entered. User information will be displayed along thebottom line giving useful information for each parameter selected.

The text position is capable of having 24 characters of text assigned, this position hasa default message of “UNASSIGNED”. When selected the existing text will be removedand the letter “A” will appear in the first character position, this will appear for eachposition on the line unless another character has already been inserted. Operation ofthe UP and DOWN arrow keys will scroll through the character set, which is shown infigure 4.11. When the correct character is displayed operation of the left and rightarrow keys will move to the next position on the text line where the letter “A” will appearonce more.

When the text entry is completed operation of the Enter key will accept the entry andwill then allow the next parameter to be selected. Operation of the Cancel key whilstprogramming the text will cause the original text to reappear in the position, thisoperation will also allow the next parameter to be selected.

Timer T1

When selected the time can be entered using the arrow keys which will increment ordecrement the time setting in 5 second intervals. By operation of the number keys itis also possible to select the required timer setting. If the selected time value is notwithin its default settings of 0 to 60 seconds the time will not be accepted until a validtime is entered. When the required time has been selected operation of the Enter keywill accept the setting, whereas operation of Cancel will revert the setting to its originalvalue. Operation of either key will allow the next position to be selected.

While the timer is counting down the “Output Delay” led will be illuminated, operationof the Silence Buzzer key will acknowledge and halt timer T1 and initiate timer T2, only if programmed. Operation of the Delay Override key whilst the timers arecounting down will cancel the timers completely.

By operation of the number keys itis also possible to select the required timer setting. If the selected time value Is notwithin its default settings of 0 to 600 seconds the time will not be accepted until a validtime is entered. Operation of either of the keys will allow the next position to be selected.

Upon operation of an alarm condition within a zone and the Timer is set the time willbe displayed along with the relevant zone information. While the timer is countingdown the “Output Delay” led will be illuminated, operation of the Silence Buzzer keywill extend timer T2 by an extra 10 seconds per operation to a maximum of 600seconds. Operation of the Delay Override key whilst the timers are counting down willcancel the timers completely.

BGU Override

This position is a “YES” or “NO” selection, the default setting for this position is “YES”which will cause a break glass to override timers 1 and 2 as explained in section 4.2.2and 4.2.3. By operation of the arrow keys the setting can be altered, when selectionis correct operation of Enter key will accept the displayed setting. Operation of theCancel key will return the setting to its original state and allow selection of the nextposition.

When set to the “NO” position and timers T1 or T2 are operational activation of abreak glass device will not override the timer and initiate the evacuate signal.

When set to the “YES” position and timers T1 or T2 are operational, activation of twodevices within the same zone will override the timers and initiate the evacuate signal.

4.4.3 Loop Device Information

Upon entry to this section a loop and device number will be requested, upon selectiona list of detectors will appear on the display starting from the selected device. Thedevices fall into two categories Input and Output device types. By use of the arrowkeys the required device can be highlighted and then operation of the Enter key willaccess the selected devices information. Figure 4.13 shows the information for aninput device type and figure 4.16 shows the information for an output device type.

This is the actual device type which is automatically transmitted by the control panelby the devices which is a default setting, this is not capable of being altered.

Custom

This allows the device to have a custom device type displayed in place of the actualdevice type as explained in section 4.4.3.2. This position is set to “00:UNASSIGNED”,this setting allows the actual device type to be displayed for any activation. Uponselection use of the arrow keys allows the required custom device number and itsassociated text to be selected. Operation of the Enter key will select and allow the nextline to be selected. Operation of the Cancel key will return the original text and allowthe selection of the next line.

Zone

This selection is dependant upon wether the plant indications have been setup, if theyare not setup it will only be possible to assigns the device to zones. If the plantindications are setup then it will be possible to assign the device to either a zone or aplant indication as shown in figure 4.14.

This setting will be at a default setting of “000” and when selected the setting will beremoved to allow the entry of the new zone number. Dependant upon the setup for zones and plants the selection of will be made by operation of the arrow keys whichwill increment or decrement the number. Selection can also be made by operation ofthe numeric keys to select the required zone number. If the selected zone number isnot within the default settings, as per the setup, the selection will not be accepted untila valid zone or plant number is entered. Operation of the Enter key will accept andallow the next position to be selected where as operation of the Cancel key will returnthe original value and allow selection of the next line.

Priority

When selected it will be possible to assign the device to a priority header as explainedin section 4.5.2, all input device types will default to “1:FIRE” setting as shown infigure 4.15.

Sensitivity

This selection will allow automatic device types to change there sensitivity levels, asdefault setting for all device types will be “STD” which represents standard. Operationof the arrow keys will allow the setting to be scrolled to either “HIGH” or “LOW”settings. When the required setting is displayed, operation of the Enter key will acceptand will then select the “Day Mode” option. Operation of the Cancel key will return theoriginal value and allow selection of the next line. Selecting the HIGH setting willreduce the sensitivity of the device whereas LOW will increase the sensitivity of thedevice.

Day Mode

When selected the position will be at the default setting of “Inactive”. Operation of thearrow keys will allow the settings to be scrolled to either “Isolate”, and the sensitivitysettings as explained in section 4.4.4.5. This selection works in conjunction with theSensitivity setting as it will not be possible to assign a device to a “High” Day modesensitivity setting if the Sensitivity setting is at “Low” and vice versa. The selection canonly be to the next level which will be Standard if the Sensitivity is at High. Operationof the Enter key will accept the selection and allow selection of the next line where asoperation of the Cancel key will return the original value and allow selection of the nextline.

Non Latch

This selection is only available for manual device types, when selected the setting willbe at the default of “NO”. By operation of the arrow keys the setting can be alteredbetween “YES” and “NO” once the required setting is displayed operation of the Enterkey will accept the selection. Operation of the Cancel key will return the original valueand allow selection of the next line. Assignment to the Yes position will, when theinput is removed, allow the manual device to deactivate without the need to carry outa Silence and Reset of the control panel.

BGU Flag

This selection is only available for manual device types, when selected the setting willbe at the default of “NO”. By operation of the arrow keys the setting can be alteredbetween “YES” and “NO” once the required setting is displayed operation of the Enterkey will accept the selection. Operation of the Cancel key will return the original valueand allow selection of the next line. Assignment to the Yes position will allow the inputto respond in the same manner as true break glass device types, i.e a quick response.

4.4.5 Output Group Information

Timer T3 is a Pre Alert time delay which, once set to an output group, will not allowthe assigned output devices to activate until the timer has expired. The timer will beat a default setting of “000 secs”, upon selection the time can be entered using thearrow keys which will increment or decrement the time setting in 5 second intervals. By operation of the number keys it is possible to select the required timer setting. Timer T4

Timer T4 is the time period in which the output devices will remain in an alert conditionuntil they operate into an evacuate condition, the alert condition is only applicable forsounder outputs. The timer will be at a default setting of “00 mins”, upon selection arequest is made as to wether the output group requires to be either an Infinite or atimed setting as shown in figure 4.21.

Selection of the infinite option will allow the alert condition to operate until the outputgroup is deactivated by the operation of either Silence Alarms or Reset. Operation of the Cancel key will return the setting to itsoriginal state and allow selection of the next position.

When set to the Yes position and either of the timers T3 or T4 are running activationof a break glass device type will cause the relevant timer to be overridden.

Action On

This selection allows the user to allocate when the selected output group willcommence operating upon activation of an appropriate input operation. Upon selectionby use of the arrow keys the required parameter can be selected and operation of theEnter key will allow the selection of the next position.

Common

Assignment to this parameter will cause the output devices assigned to the selectedGroup to operate for any priority 1 or 2 activation on the control panel.

Program

This parameter is the default setting for this position. Assignment to this parameter willcause the output devices assigned to the selected Group to operate when an assignedinput of the Group activates.

Silence Alarms

Assignment to this parameter will cause the output devices assigned to the selectedGroup to operate for 10 seconds when the Silence Alarms key of the control panel hasbeen operated.

Panel Reset

Assignment to this parameter will cause the output devices assigned to the selectedGroup to operate for 10 seconds when the Silence Alarms key of the control panel hasbeen operated.

Evacuate

This selection will be at the default setting of “NO” and when selected operation of thearrow keys will allow the setting to be altered between the settings of “YES” and “NO”. Once the required setting is displayed operation of the Enter key will accept and allowselection of the next option. Operation of the Cancel key will return the original valueand allow selection of the next line. Assignment to the Yes position will activate theGroups assigned output devices when the Evacuate key is operated.

Deactivate

This selection will be at the default setting of “Panel Reset” which will cause theactivation of the output group to clear upon operation of Panel Reset. When selectedthe setting can be altered by use of the arrow keys to the “Silence Alarms” settingwhich will cause the output group to clear upon operation of Silence Alarms. When theselection is correct operation of Enter key will confirm the displayed setting where asoperation of Cancel key will return the setting to its original state and allow selection ofthe next position.

4.4.6 Repeater Information

Selection of the Repeater Information option from the standard features as shown infigure 3.2 allows the operator to assign information to repeater panels which havecontrols only. Upon selection of this option the repeater information as shown in figure4.26 will be displayed.

Sounder Group

Each Repeater panel with controls is capable of having the internal sounder circuitprogrammed to operate within the cause and effect. This selection allows the sounderto be assigned to an output group, however they default to a “Common” (000) setting.To edit the required group highlight the position and operate the Enter key. By use ofthe arrow keys or the numeric keys the required group number maybe selected. Oncethe required group number has been selected operation of the Enter key will close thesetting and allow the next selection to be made. Operation of the Cancel key will alsoclose the selection and will cause the original setting to be returned if information hasbeen selected and also allow the next position to be selected.

Selection and operation is as described in 4.4.7

4.5 Custom Features

This selection will allow the configuration of any special set up parameters which arerequired for the control panel. When selected the sub menus, as shown in figure 4.28, will be displayed which can be selected by highlighting the position by operation of thearrow and Enter to confirm selection.

4.5.1 Motherboard Information

This selection allows the information to be programmed for the extension cards whichmaybe installed within the control panels. The selection of these cards is all dependantupon the setup of the control panel as described in section 4.4.1.18 within the “PanelSetup” section of the Standard Features menu. Upon selection of this option thedisplay will request the entry of a motherboard card address and address numbers. Ifthe selection matches a correct motherboard address the information for the selectedcard the display will list the extension card type and the channels below. The user willthen select the required channel to be edited by highlighting the position and operatingthe Enter key this will allow the information as shown in figure 4.29 to be programmed.

4.5.2 Priority Header

This selection allows the header text which appears in the top left hand corner of thedisplay during an activation to be reconfigured, as shown in figure 1.6. On selectionthe default settings will be displayed and by operation of the arrow keys the requiredheader text can be highlighted as shown in figure 4.30.

4.5.3 Custom Device Text

This selection allows the device custom text, which once assigned to a device, willappear in the place of the actual device type text when displayed during activation. 4.5.4 Plant Alarm Information

To allow the selection of this option the plant indication require to be selected within thepanel setup option as per section 4.4.1.8. If the Plant indications are not setup and thisoption is selected the display will show a message of “plants are not enabled”. When

setup and this option is selected the display will request a plant number and onceentered the plant indications will be listed on the display as shown in figure 4.32.

4.6 Clear Memory

This selection allows the various areas of programmed information to be cleared, whenselected the display will show the sub menus as shown in figure 4.33. The requiredoption can be selected by operation of the arrow keys which will highlight the requiredoption and operation of the Enter key will accept the selection.

4.6.1 Zone Information

When selected a request will be displayed to confirm that all zone information is to becleared, operation of the Enter key will confirm and will carry out the deletion of theassigned information for all zones. Operation of the Cancel key will not carry out therequest, operation of either the Enter or Cancel keys will return the display to the menusub options as per figure 4.33.

4.6.2 Plant Information

Operation of this option is similar to that as explained in section 4.6.1 except that thisoption is for the plant information.

4.6.3 Group Information

Operation of this option is similar to that as explained in section 4.6.1 except that thisoption is for the group information.

4.6.4 Device Information

When selected the display will request the loop numbers the device information is to becleared from as shown in figure 4.34.

Once the required loop number(s) have been entered operation of the Enter key willrequest the user to confirm the selection made. Operation of the Enter key will clear theselected loop device information and return to the sub menu selection, where asCancel will return to the sub menu selection and not clear the device information.

4.6.5 BLC Outputs

Operation of this option is similar to that as explained in section 4.6.1 except that thisoption is for the panel sounder circuits and relay output information.

4.6.6 Activations

Operation of this option is similar to that as explained in section 4.6.1 except that thisoption is for the assigned input information for the output groups.

4.6.7 Motherboard Information

Operation of this option is similar to that as explained in section 4.6.1 except that thisoption is for the assigned motherboard information assigned to the control panel.

4.7 User Passwords

When selected it will be possible to assign specific user passwords for user accesslevels 2 and 3, when this option is selected the display will request the selection of therequired access level as shown in figure 4.35. Operation of the arrow keys will highlightthe required access level and operation of Enter will access the highlighted level.

Selection of the required level will request the entry of a 4 digit number, when eachdigit is being entered a “#” will appear which is for security reasons. When completeoperation of the Enter key will request that the new entry to be confirmed by reenteringthe same code number as shown in figure 4.36.

When the 4 digit code has been reentered and upon operation of the Enter key the twoentries will then be verified. If the two entries are correct then the display will revert to

the selection as per figure 4.35. If the two entries do not match then an informationmessage will be displayed, If the entered password are already exists an invalidmessage will be displayed. Operation of the Cancel key at any time will return to themain sub menu selection as shown in figure 4.0.

4.8 Loop Configuration

This option will be used for the acceptance of logon and configuration information andalso to carry out autolearn of loop detection circuits. Upon selection the sub menus asshown in figure 4.37 will be displayed and by use of the arrow keys or the numeric keysthe required position maybe highlighted. Once highlighted operation of the Enter keywill accept the selection whereas the Cancel key will return the display to the originalmenu selection.

4.8.1 Accept Logon count

When logon faults are reported as previously explained in section 3.8.4 this option isused for the acceptance of the logon fault conditions. Upon selection of this option thedisplay will show the options as shown in figure 4.38.

Operation of the arrow keys will highlight either the “Yes”, “No” or “List faults” optionsupon the display. Operation of the Enter key upon the “Yes” position will cause theraised logon faults to be accepted and the configuration to be updated. Once acceptedthis now becomes the new configuration of the control panels loop(s). Operation ofcancel at this point will cause the panel to carry out a configuration check, uponcompletion the associated loggon faults will be cleared. If the Enter key is operated

upon the “No” position the logon faults will not be accepted causing the logon faults toremain. Selection of the “List faults” will cause the display to operate as described insection 3.8.4 of this manual. Operation of the Cancel key will cause the display to becancelled and revert to the menu options.

4.8.2 Accept Config Count

This option works in the same manner as that of the “Accept Logon Fault” option asexplained previously. This option will accept the faults raised when their arediscrepancies between the panels stored configuration and the information transmittedfrom the VIPER programming software, with respect to the loop device information only. If the”Yes” option is selected then the loop device information, which is stored in thepanels configuration, will not be updated by the discrepancies raised by the downloadof the VIPER.

4.8.3 Autolearn

When selected the display will request the entry of the loop(s) which requireautolearning, the display will show the information as shown in figure 4.39.

The required loop number(s) can be entered by use of either the arrow keys or by thenumeric keys. Once the correct loops have been entered operation of the Enter key willaccept and move to the next selection position. If an invalid loop number is entered atany time the panel will not accept the value until valid loop number has been selected. Once the required loop numbers number have been selected operation of the Enterkey will cause the autolearn procedure to begin as shown in figure 4.40.

Whilst the Autolearn is being carried the display will show a timer which is to inform theuser that the control panel is operating correctly. If any alterations to the loop(s)configuration is detected the control panel will raise a fault condition as previouslydescribed.

TEST 5. TEST

This selection will allow tests to be performed upon certain areas within the controlpanel. When selected the sub menus, as shown in figure 5.0, will be displayed whichcan be selected by operation of the arrow and Enter keys.

5.1 Panel test

When selected the panel will carry out a self test of the liquid crystal display, ledindications and the internal panel buzzer. While the display is being tested each linewill be checked and at the same time the serial number of the control panels softwarewill be displayed.

5.2 Device Test

Upon selection the control will request the selection of a Loop, Device and subaddress number, as shown in figure 5.1.

Once selected operation of the Enter key will cause the control panel to test theselected device once it has communicated to the device a pass or failure message willbe displayed, as shown in figure 5.2. Whilst the test is being carried out the Test statusled will be intermittently lit.

If the device test fails a device fault condition will be raised and will only clear when thedevice has re-established communications to the control panel. Operation of any keywhen the test is complete will return the display to the main menu selection as shownin figure 5.0

5.3 Output Group Test

Upon selection the control panel requests the selection of an output group, whilstdisplaying a warning signal for the isolation of release outputs as shown in figure 5.3.

5.4 Alarm Simulation Test

Upon selection the control will request the selection of a Loop, Device and subaddress number, as shown in figure 5.4.

Once selected operation of the Enter key will cause the control panel to test theselected device and will also cause the any output group which it is assigned againstto operate. The display will operate as during a normal fire condition. While the test isbeing carried out the Test status led will be intermittently lit and other relevant LEDs willbe illuminated also which will be program dependant. The Alarm simulation test willoperate as a normal fire condition and will only clear upon operation “Silence” and“Reset” of the control panel.

5.5 Key test

Selection of this option will allow the user to test that all of the membrane keys operatecorrectly as requested by the display, as shown in figure 5.5.
