Dear Friends
The Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, the premier tertiary cancertreatment and research centre in South Asia and one of the largestglobally, is on the cusp of a momentous year, namely, the 75th year ofits existence.
It gives us great pleasure to invite you to the 1st InternationalConference on Cancer Rehabilitation,” Can Rehab 2017- AMultidisciplinary approach” to commemorate TMC’s platinum jubileecelebrations. The conference will be held at the Tata MemorialHospital, Mumbai.
Cancer and its various treatments introduce a host of implicationsthat negatively impact function. From the point of diagnosisthroughout active treatment and for the duration of a cancersurvivor’s lifetime, there are short and long term risks for functionalmorbidity/impairment. Cancer rehabilitation is an important part ofthe oncology care continuum and involves an interdisciplinary teamof rehabilitation professionals.
Interdisciplinary exchange, interaction and co-operation are thecorner stones of optimal patient care. Educational opportunities thatpromote, inter professional learning and collaboration are needed toadvance clinical and scientific research and its subsequent translationto clinical practice. The Can Rehab 2017 provides that opportunity bybringing together the various fields of rehabilitation medicineincluding oncologists, physicians, physical therapists, occupationaltherapists, speech language pathologists, psychologists, rehabilitationnurses, dieticians, social workers and other allied healthprofessionals.
Key international speakers and participants will deliberate on theseissues critically over 2 days of the conference on carefully chosenthemes in the form of symposia, debates and special lectures. We aresure that the conference will be an academic feast and would appealto all health care professionals involved in cancer rehabilitation.
We look forward to seeing you in large numbers.
