Increased quality of lifeThe order from the Verkehrsbetriebe Glattal VBG on ABB as the general contractor in cooperation with other partners comprises the design and installation of the energy supply. The system solution comprises the network calculations for the optimum design of the installation. The final stage will comprise eight rectifier substations, which will supply the overhead contact wires with 600 volts DC.

The energy supply installation will be monitored around the clock via a fiber-optic connection to the operations center. Any deviations from the normal status will be immediately rec-ognized and handled. If necessary, switching operations can be made directly from the operations center (remote control).

The communications solutionThe communication network was designed based on the fiber-optic network with ABB SCADA Com Units. The signals are transmitted redundantly.
