Vermont Futures

Project Underway

The Vermont Chamber of Com-merce is traveling throughout the state to build an agenda for growth by focusing on solutions to address the workforce challenge. Teaming up with local chambers, business associations, and the Vermont Futures Project, we are solic-iting solutions to create a targeted plan to increase our workforce.

The Vermont Futures Project has identified that Vermont needs nearly 11,000 new workers each year to keep pace with our current rate of growth. Governor Scott's top three priorities are to grow the economy, make Vermont more affordable, and protect the most vulnerable. As Governor Scott has pointed out in his "6-3-1" mantra, each day in Ver-mont we have six fewer workers in the workforce, three fewer children in our public-school system, and one baby born to a mother addicted to drugs. As part of this effort, the Vermont Chamber is collecting solu-tions on how to increase our workforce to create a strategy, both long and short-term, that can be brought to the legislature and implement-ed. So far eight forums have been held and another six will occur by mid-January.

Locations of future forums and summaries from our past forums can be located on the Vermont Futures Project website. If you are unable to attend a forum, or there is not one located in your community, we are still interested in hearing your thoughts and ideas on how to re-solve Vermont's workforce supply gap, by providing a comment here, or contacting [email protected]. Questions? Please con-tact Ashley Romeo-Boles 802-262.2130.
