2013 4-H Space Camp Trip
I think space camp was amazing, I met
new people from all over the state, and
the learning experience was incredible.
My favorite thing about camp was the
Hubble telescope movie, and the space shot. I also
enjoyed my mission in which I was the mission
specialist #2, and got to do an extra vehicular activity
(EVA) which I unfortunately burned up in the
atmosphere. I'll never forget any of the new friends I
made there, or many of the interesting facts I learned.

Extension Offices. Participation will be as simple as connecting with your local 4-H Youth Development
Extension Professional. Join with other 4-H Volunteers in your community and across the 12-state
North Central Region to learn cutting edge information that will help you work effectively with 4-H
members. Session topics include Working with Parents, Engaging Teens and Older Youth in 4-H, Using
Technology to Enhance Your 4-H Experience, and Exploring the Science of 4-H Projects
The purpose of the e-Forums :
The North Central Region Volunteer Forum is an opportunity for volunteers to connect with Extension
professionals and other volunteers from across a twelve state region, which includes the states of Wisconsin,
Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, and South
Dakota. The Forum also provides volunteers with a chance to gain knowledge and skills that can be used and
shared as they work with 4-H youth in their own state, county, and community.
**All sessions are from 7:00-8:30 pm (CST)
First session is: November 18th
OMG! You’ve Got 4-H Parents! Now What??
• Presented by: Pat McGlaughlin, University of Illinois; Steve McKinley, Purdue University; Mary Jo
Williams, University of Missouri
Parents play a critical role in deciding the organizations in which their children will participate. The
experience the family has in 4-H during their first year is important for long-term participation. This
session will help volunteers explore a variety of strategies to increase positive parental support of local 4-
H programs. As a result, parents will stay connected with their own children, recognize mutual
expectations and responsibilities between parents and volunteers, and become caring adults for other
youth.
Register one week prior to the session you will
attend by calling the UW-Extension Office, 637-
5276. Bring a friend! Snacks provided!
