PROGRAM: Planting design. Provide a colorful planting scheme that enhances the front of the house. MEDIA: Hand Drafted, Hand Rendered with Photoshop touch-ups.

DESIGN INTENT: At the front side of the house, a formal and geometric outdoor living area was built for a passive use. Colorful plant selection was carefully chosen to make the space appealing. A red maple tree near the main entrance and lavender rhododen-dron makes up the minimal planting scheme. Gray granite is used on the main entrance path and continues throughout the landscape.

PROGRAM: The client wanted an engaging backyard with suffi cient open lawn space near the driveway.

MEDIA: Hand Drafted, Hand Rendered

DESIGN INTENT: The backyard includes a pool, spa, porch and enough space for children to play. The design focuses on providing an engaging active space that everyone can use. A colorful planting scheme helps screen noise that comes from road and gives an enclosed environment for privacy. A stepping stone path connects the front yard with back. A shed house was placed for maintenance equipment.

PROGRAM: Redesign the corridor that connects the north area of Caldwell and Denmark Hall with the lower area of the Founders Garden.

MEDIA: Hand Drafted

DESIGN INTENT: The idea for this design is to create a strong physical identity for the College of Environment and Design. The main entrance has been modifi ed to create a more professional setting as one approaches the area. Trees set the boundaries for a central green space. A fountain containing a structure and signage naming the college and a colorful planting scheme sets a strong point of interest. The new pathways have enough lighting that improves circulation and oncreases the safety of the students. The new planting scheme will visually scale down the building and it create a transition to human scale on the adjacent heavy use sidewalk. The east edge of the Founders Garden has also been enhanced to show signifi cant linear space along the corridor and provide a connection to the college’s improved entrance. Vegeta-tion has been used to screen utility boxes and trash recepticles making them accessible only to maintenance crews. Inspired by the Dutch “woonerf” the amount of paving has been decreased, allowing for the installation of a bioswale.

D E S I G N I N T E N T : Photoshop and digital imaging are used in this project to enhance the visualization of the existing site, the courtyard at Denmark Hall. I propose a more functional, safe and inviting outdoor area that will inspire design students. In this design, I added a more effi cient path that allows pedestrians to walk through the site rather than around it. Denmark Hall is one of the historic building in the College of Environment and Design but it was lacking in a vibrant entry way. I moved the iconic sculpture to a more engaging place in the courtyard and surrounded it with fl owers to make it more visible. I also changed the entrance to the building to make it more welcoming. Now students and visitors can enjoy the site, fell safe, and experience the plants. These changes refl ect the spirit of the college.

PROGRAM: To design a pocket park.

MEDIA: SketchUp

DESIGN INTENT: For this project I used Sketchup to build a model that proposes the development of a public park in what it is now a parking lot. The parking lot is at the corner of East Washington and Lumpkin Street in Athens, Ga. My idea includes a fountain water wall that enhances the only wall that surrounds the lot. Trees screen the left side of the lot and block unwanted views and traffi c noise. Surrounding the parking lot are a church, bars, and a government building. The design provides a friendly environment for the community. The stage allows for public func-tions such as concerts and public gatherings.

PROGRAM: To redesign an area of the Beltline near station 4.

MEDIA: Hand Graphics, GIS, Photoshop, SketchUp

DESIGN INTENT: The project consist of six stations. My partner and I were responsible for station four. Our area is north and south of North Ave and was broken into three spaces. Area one is the station, area two is the mix use development, and space three is the arboritum and public art instalations. The fi nal project was presented to a fi rm and cas completed in less then two days. To view the entire project visite: issuu.com

PROGRAM: Map the trail and areas of interest.

MEDIA: GIS, Hand Graphics, Pen and Marker on bond paper.

DESIGN INTENT: My idea was to enhance the bike trail landscape by adding different native plants that have year-round interest. After a site analysis I was able to identify areas that needed attention. I also asked guests for their opinion on what they thought would make their ride through the trails more memorable. My main focus was to enhance the experience of the riders by connecting them with nature through scenery, smell, sight and touch. I developed an update map of the bike trail that recognizes areas of possible interest to the guests. To fi nd these points of interest I decided to bike the trail and get an experience of what could make it more interesting. I defi ned several areas and incorporated perennial plants that add color and provide sense of smell. During my Internship at Callaway Gardens I was able to learn more about how understanding a natural site can help develop an interesting concept that can be of inter-est to people.

PROGRAM: Design a project that combines horticulture and landscape design ideas to enhance unusable areas.

MEDIA: Photoshop, Hand graphics

DESIGN INTENT: I was assign to work at the Polynesian Resort At the beginning of my internship. The Polynesian is known for its tropical plant selection. However, there was no signage that helps identify plants. As horticulture student I propose to incorporate digital screen that can help guest identify plants. These screen are resistant to severe weather conditions and are solar powered. To protect them I design structures that would hold the screen while providing and interesting feature to the landscape. As a landscape architect candidate I proposed to make use of impractical areas that could be used for the installation of the structures. The fi rst design I use Photoshop to introduce the structures and added a color scheme that attracts people’s attention. This allows for people to approach the screen and educate people about horticultures. The second design provides a more natural setting that can be installed near resting points and or food courtyards.

PROGRAM: Make the Arboritum a more inviting place.

MEDIA: Photoshop, Autocad

DESIGN INTENT: We proposed to enhance the arboritum by making it a child friendly playground. We seperated the space into three areas: outdoor class-room, fi tness area, informational entrance. The materials used in this project were recycled and installed by my group members and I.
