Queridos Feligreses,
La lectura del Evangelio del domingo pasado
tiene un significado especial porque la historia
de Bartimeo contiene el modelo tanto del disci-
pulado como de la oración.
La respuesta de Bartimeo a Jesús quien le pre-
guntó: "¿Qué quieres que haga por ti?" es la ora-
ción más antigua de la Fe Católica y fue rezada
repetidamente por nuestros predecesores en la
Fe para promover la oración.
El trabajo del traductor es muy importante. La
traducción que se utiliza en la Misa proporciona esta frase:
"Señor, haz que vea."
La frase original latina que se rezó una y otra vez: "Domine ut
videam", se traduce de una manera más antigua (Reims 1749)
como: "Rabboni, que pueda ver."
Es útil para nuestra vida de oración investigar cuidadosamente
un versículo del Evangelio. Y, las diversas traducciones disponi-
bles para nosotros nos ayudan a captar el significado del versícu-
lo desde diversas perspectivas.
Señor Jesús, quien anduvo haciendo el bien y sanando a todos,
te pedimos que restaures nuestra visión espiritual cual una vez
fue purificada en las aguas del Bautismo. Danos fuerza, valor y
paciencia para que, recuperada, gozosamente alabemos tu San-
to Nombre. Oh Señor, haz que vea. Oh Señor, haz que vea. Oh

Dear Parishioners,
The Gospel reading of last Sunday has spe-
cial significance because the story of the
blind Bartimaeus contains the pattern of
both discipleship and prayer.
The response of Bartimaeus to Jesus who
asked him, “What do you want me to do for
you?” is the most ancient prayer of the
Catholic Faith and was prayed repetitively by
our ancestors in the Faith to promote
prayerfulness.
The work of the translator is very important. The transla-
tion that is used in the Mass provides this phrase: “Master,
I want to see.”
The original Latin phrase that was prayed over and again:
“Domine ut videam,” is translated in a more ancient way
(Rheims 1749) as: “Rabboni, that I may see.”
It is helpful to our prayer life to research carefully a verse
from the Gospel. And, the various translations available to
us help us to grasp the meaningfulness of the verse from
various perspectives.
Lord Jesus, who went about doing good and healing all, we
ask you to restore our spiritual sight once cleansed in the
waters of Baptism. Give us strength, courage and pa-
tience so that recovered we may joyfully praise your Holy
Name. O Lord, that I may see. O Lord, that I may see. O
Lord, that I may see. Amen.

All Lectors and Prospective Lectors are invited to the annual Lector Meeting on
Wednesday, November 14 at 7 p.m. in the Church. Father David Leibham will
join us for this meeting. We will also distribute the new lector workbooks for
2018-19. Remember the new cycle of readings begins the First Week of Ad-
vent, which is Dec. 2. If you are unable to attend this meeting, please let your
Mass captain know. This meeting is for all lectors (both English and Spanish) at
all Masses. If you are interested in becoming a lector, please call Christian
