QUALIFICATION & PRE-CERTIFICATION VETERANS INITIATIVE NEW PROGRAM IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TRAINING This program provides a scholarship to a two-semester, six month, Certificate in Project Management training program offered by Western Connecticut State University (WCSU), as well as full-time employment in either Hartford, CT or Shelton, CT. This is a work-study program—the participants will initially attend the training for a Certificate in Project Management from WCSU. Upon successful completion of that program, candidates will continue working full time for Workforce Opportunity Services (WOS), the non-profit organization that operates the work-study program, as a consultant to the sponsoring company. Once working at the sponsor site, participants will receive additional project management training working on projects with an IT focus. Participants who earn their certificate from WCSU, and are successful as a Project Manager during the work portion of the program can be hired by the sponsoring company. Veterans accepted into the training program will receive a stipend throughout the six-month period. There is no cost to participate in any portion of this program. To participate in this program, candidates must have the following qualifications: Military Service past 9/11/2001 (Active Duty, Reserve, Guard) Honorable Discharge High school diploma or equivalent Upon acceptance you will initially attend classes in project management two evenings per week and then participate in practical work experience.
