Premium Assured Strangles Scheme (PASS)

The Strangles Health Scheme has been developed by SAC Consulting Veterinary Services and supported by BHS.

Aims and Benefits of the Strangles Health Scheme

• To protect horses and livery yards from infection with Strangles. • To reduce the spread of disease in local areas through increasing scheme

membership. • To provide an effective mechanism for the equine industry to tackle Strangles on a

national scale, and stop the uncontrolled spread of the disease. • The risk of disease in horses on member yards is significantly reduced through a

proactive approach to the elimination of Strangles. • Member yards enjoy an enhanced status amongst the equine community, and are

recognised as having robust protocols in place for Strangles prevention. • The cost of Strangles testing for members is discounted.

First scheme in the UK working in partnership with veterinary practices and the equine industry.

Analytical Services... “covering all ground”

SAC Consulting has its own dedicated UKAS-accredited analytical facilities, ensuring a seamless service from field to lab.

The Analytical Services facility tests a range of materials for farmers, growers, consultants (including veterinary practitioners), commercial companies and researchers. This includes the testing of soils, plants, silages, animal feeds, organic manures, waters and soil amendments such as sewage sludge, paper wastes, composts and horticulture samples. We also carry out mineral and vitamin testing on veterinary samples.

Getting soil analysis right ensures the best economic return for farmers and growers, saves money and prevents unnecessary environmental problems.

Other soil related services include:

• pH soil sampling using GPS technology • SAC SOILCHECK – topsoil analysis• SAC Slurry Max - slurry analysis

CPD

Scientific knowledge is expanding all the time. However, it is difficult for anyone, least of all the busy veterinary practitioner to keep abreast of new knowledge relevant to their work. Yet this is what is expected by increasingly litigious clientele, and indeed is desirable as practices need to exploit competitive advantage to retain clients and increase practice incomes.

We have created a series of one and two day CPD training courses on a wide range of topics. The course content has been developed in collaboration with veterinary practitioners and uses expertise from within SAC Consulting Veterinary Services, research institutes, veterinary schools and the commercial sector to ensure the highest standards. Venues and course topics can be arranged to suit delegate needs.
