RESTRAINED SPRING ISOLATORS

Kinetics Model FLS Restrained Spring Isolators are largediameter, laterally stable steel springs assembled into awelded steel housing designed to limit vertical movement ofthe isolated equipment if equipment weights are reduced orif the equipment is subjected to large external forces. Thespring elements are complete with high frequency vibrationcontrol noise pads and an adjustable top load plate with lev-eling bolts. They are available with deflections 0.71" to 4.00"for loads up to 23,200 lbs. The FLS isolators are recom-mended for the isolation and restraint of large fluid-carryingequipment such as boilers, chillers, and cooling towers, orfor equipment subjected to high wind loads.

SESIMIC RESTRAINT ISOLATORS AND SNUBBERS

Kinetics Model FLSS Seismic Control Restrained SpringVibration Isolators, in addition to the same features of ourModel FLS Restrained Spring Vibration Isolators, offeradditional seismic restraint capabilities. The seismiccapacity ratings for isolators are determined at Kineticsby statically loading sample isolators in the vertical, bothhorizontal, and in the vertical and horizontal axis simulta-neously until failure. The resulting maximum limits definethe restraint capacity envelope. Appropriate Model FLSSand FHS Isolators are selected by first determining seis-mic force requirements computed at each isolator usingspecific job specification data and local code require-ments and then comparing those requirements to thecapabilities as defined by the restraint capacity envelope.

Kinetics Model FHS Seismic Control Restrained SpringIsolators meet specifications for Kinetics Model FDS iso-lators and include a steel housing assembly to limit bothlateral and vertical movement of the supported equipmentduring an earthquake without degrading the vibration iso-lation of the spring during normal equipment operatingconditions.

Standard FHS isolators incorporate a steel housing whichencloses a neoprene snubber. Depending on the load andseismic zone, an optional steel spreader plate may beapplied to distribute the load among concrete anchors. Aneoprene pad fitted in series with the spring is provided.Equipment attachment is by way of a bolt screwed down-ward through the equipment foot. Removal of the isolatorfor servicing can be easily accomplished as the isolator isnot fitted with a protruding stud. In conformance with allcurrent building code standards, the restraining system isdesigned to withstand a minimum 1.0 g acceleration force.Motion is limited to approximately 0.2" in any direction.

Kinetics Model FMS Seismically RatedRestraint/Vibration Isolator can be used as an independ-ent restraint device or as a seismically rated vibration iso-lator assembly. Designed for the new building codes, theunit is comprised of a restraint module and an optionalvibration isolation module. This modular design allows theengineer to design for seismic or wind forces independentof the load and deflection requirements of the vibration iso-lator. The vibration isolation module uses Kinetics laterallystable springs.

Kinetics Model KAM and CAM Air Isolators are pneumatic, elas-tomeric vibration mounts. The CAM is available in four (4) sizes sup-porting loads up to 7,500 lbs. The KAM is available in seven (7) sizeswith capacities from 500 to 22,000 lbs. per mount.

Both models are available with automatic leveling controls and custommounting to meet your specific needs.

Typical applications include mechanical equipment and industrialprocess equipment requiring low natural frequency isolation, as wellas protecting sensitive equipment from disturbing floor-borne vibration.

ISOLATION BASES

Kinetics Model CIB-H & L Inertia Base Frames arepre-engineered welded steel pouring frames withwelded-in concrete reinforcement, equipment mountingbolts, and vibration isolator brackets. The CIB bases aredesigned to add mass to the rotating equipment in addi-tion to rigidity and support for vibration isolation. CIBbases are typically used with reciprocating compressors, large chillers, compressors, fans, and pumps, and canaccommodate spring, fiberglass, neoprene, or airmount-type isolation.

Kinetics Model SFB Welded Structural Frame Bases areindividually designed and fabricated to provide rigidity andsupport to mechanical equipment.

Kinetics Model SBB Structural Beam Bases are com-posed up of two (2) structural members used to supportequipment that does not require a unitary base, such assmall close-coupled pumps, fans, and air handlers. Thestructural beams provide rigidity to the equipment andaccommodate the installation of vibration isolation.

Kinetics Seismic Cable Restraints are designed to pro-vide seismic restraint capacity in excess of the new build-ing codes and reduce costly field installation time. Theengineered brackets and cable assemblies are multi func-tional to minimize the number of different parts required todo the job. The dual- purpose KSCA clip attaches thecable to the structure by anchoring to concrete with con-crete anchors or bolting or welding to steel. The twoKSCA clips at the other end of the cable are used toattach the cable to the hanger rod by clamping to thethreaded rod directly above the clevis hanger. Kineticsoffers additional labor-saving components to suspendduct work, mechanical equipment, and electrical gear.

ISOLATION HANGERS

Kinetics Model FH, RH, SH, SRH, and SFH Isolation Hangers are a family of products designed toreduce the transmission of vibration and noise from suspended equipment and systems. FH and RHhangers incorporate fiberglass or elastomer inserts only. SH hangers incorporate a spring insert only.SFH and SRH hangers are combination hangers, containing a fiberglass or elastomer pad insert inseries with a spring. Hanger inserts are designed for up to 50% overload capacity and for rod mis-alignment over 30-degree arc. Brackets will carry 500% overload without failure. Hangers are availableto 4” deflection and in capacities to 3,850 lbs. in standard designs. Hangers feature a Kineticspatented No-Short spring cap which contains indexed steps to correspond to standard washer diame-ters for the appropriate rod diameter. The rod and washer stay centered in the No-Short cap.

KINFLEX Connectors prevent stresses due to expansionand contraction, isolate against the transfer of noise andvibration, and compensate for misalignment. KINFLEX con-nectors absorb movement created in piping systems byambient temperatures, differences in temperature of materi-als handled, and differences in composition. The danger ofbuckling or pulling apart and the resulting maintenance costsare minimized.

Kinetics Model HSR Thrust Restraints are installed toreduce movement associated with fan thrust and areinstalled in pairs at the fan discharge. Model HSR uses1” and 2" deflection springs in 35 to 3,500 lbs capacities.
