Principal’s Message
Hi Everyone,
With only two weeks of this term left we still have so many things to look forward to – please keep the info
handy so that you know what’s happening. I hope that you all have sent back the Semper Dentist forms as
this is a wonderful service provided to our school.
The Resilience Project is going to be an amazing project for us to be involved in – please come along to
the parent session on Thursday, 21st September – the flyer went home yesterday. It’s so important that we
all look after our mental health and this is a powerful way to learn more about it to support our young
children who are our future.
Respectful Relationships is another program that our school will become involved in – three staff are
being introduced to the program this afternoon – we are partnered with other schools to support us and
then for us to support our students and community.
Our students and staff can’t wait to go to our whole school excursion – Beauty and the Beast at GPAC. It
should be a wonderful experience with the orchestra, lighting and costumes etc - let alone the acting and
singing! Mrs Hargreaves certainly has a few butterflies too – not only hoping her Prep/ ones love the
performance but her son is the BEAST!!
Our new Occupational Therapist students from Deakin commence next week – they work so well with
our students helping them to improve letter formation, pencil grip, core strength, sitting positions for writing
and a lot more! We love their expertise in this area.
The painting of some parts of the school will continue during the holidays. The plan for the rebuild of the
BER is on the way!! It is very frustrating waiting for this to happen and I thank everyone for their patience –
I must say mine is running out! But we continue to make some progress. I think it’s a credit to all staff and
students to continue to be happy in the rooms that they are in with so much incredible teaching and
learning happening across the school.
Jaren is our STE[A]M go to man – Science, Technology,[Arts] Engineering and Maths. Years 4/5/6 have
built the robotics ready to be programmed and used by all of our students. Students absolutely LOVE
these sessions and can’t wait for more times working with Jaren who, may I add LOVES his technology
and also working within the classrooms with the teacher, ES and kids. Technology is going really well.
Congratulations to our basketball teams – they played so well in the competition against other schools.
The practise every day has really supported them to be a terrific team who try really hard and they have all
improved their skills. Thanks to Sommer for training everyone – it’s been a great recess and lunchtime
activity and will continue to be I’m sure.
It’s great that we have all of our Aides outside during recess and lunch – there’s so much for our students
to do and our Aides support them all to have some fun playing.
Footy day colours are on the last day of the term – there will also be a special lunch [thanks P&F] that
everyone can order – more info soon. The raffle of the VERY LARGE Tobleone will be over the next two
weeks – the draw will be on the last day of the term – good luck everyone.
Our Therapy puppy - Milli is such a hit – you should see the children with her – so gentle and yes – they
ALL want her!
Have a great week everyone,
Julie
MEET MILLI
Meet Milli, Mrs Linic’s beautiful puppy who has
settled in beautifully to life at school. All of
the students absolutely love her, she is being
trained as a therapy dog, but at the moment
she is enjoying just being a much love little
puppy.
Woolworths Earn & Learn 2017
Dear Parents,
This year we are participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program. Through this program we
will be able to get new educational resources for our school/early learning centre – and all we
need you to do is shop for your groceries at Woolworths.
From Wednesday 26th July to Tuesday 19th September or while stock lasts, we are collecting Woolworths Earn & Learn
Stickers. You will get one Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker for every $10 spent (excluding liquor, tobacco and gift
cards). Place the Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheet and when it’s com-
plete, the Sticker Sheet can be dropped into the Collection Box here at the school or at your local Woolworths.
At the end of the promotion, we’ll be able to get some great new equipment. The range is extensive and offers lots
of items ideal for our students – including resources for Maths, English, Science and some fantastic fun supplies for
Arts & Craft, Sport and for our library. If you’d like to know more visit woolworths.com.au/earnandlearn
Extend After School Care at
Newcomb Park Primary School
The children have been playing a fun-filled
shop game. As we were in a different room
we took the opportunity and did treasure
hunts and a scavenger hunt. The children
have also played games outside including
football, hide and seek, downball and more.
We also did some Father’s Day preparations
and activities.
See you next week!
