Information about the photographer:
“I was always taken with the evocative colours of old hard covers”
• He juxtapose old hardback books
• He uses shallow depth of field to soften the background so we are drawn to the sharp edges of the foreground• He has thrown focus to eliminate the spines if the books
• He has made the books in the background quite abstract, I have tried to mimic this by adjusting the contrast and blurring a background layer
UNTITLED #105
My Attempts• Original
– I chose books with bright colours which would stand out– I set up the books at different heights and and angles which created
defined lines and edges
• Edited– In Photoshop I adjusted the brightness, contract and saturation to
change the colours of books and washout the backdrop– In one of my attempts I tried to blur the background layer to soften it– I cropped on of my attempts to focus on certain colours
