Children’s Services Act 1996QUALIFIED STAFF MEMBER – CHILDREN’S SERVICES
Regulation 5(1) of the Children’s Services Regulations 2009 defi nes a qualifi ed staff member as a staff member who –(a) is a teaching staff member; or(b) has successfully completed one of the following qualifi cations that has been approved by the
Secretary under sub regulation (2)(a) – i) a two year full-time, or part-time equivalent, post secondary early childhood
qualifi cation; ii) in the case of an outside school hours care service, a 2 year full-time or part-time
equivalent, post secondary child care or youth recreation qualifi cation; or(c) holds a qualifi cation the Secretary is satisfi ed is substantially equivalent or superior to a
qualifi cation referred to in paragraph (b); or(d) in the case of an outside school hours care service, holds a primary school teaching
qualifi cation.I, Jeff Rosewarne, Acting Secretary of the Department of Education and Early Childhood
Development, hereby approve each of the following early childhood qualifi cations contained in the attached schedule (Schedule 1) under Regulation 5(2)(a) in respect of sub regulation (b)(i) of the defi nition of qualifi ed staff member in Regulation 5(1) of the Children’s Services Regulations 2009.
This notice revokes the approval given to early childhood qualifi cations published in the Government Gazette on 11 August 2009 under regulation 5(1) of the Children’s Services Regulations 2009.

Children’s Services Act 1996TEACHING STAFF MEMBER – CHILDREN’S SERVICES
Regulation 5(1) of the Children’s Services Regulations 2009 defi nes a teaching staff member as a staff member who –(a) holds an early childhood teaching qualifi cation at degree level or above that has been approved
by the Secretary under sub regulation (2)(b); or(b) holds a qualifi cation the Secretary is satisfi ed is substantially equivalent or superior to a
qualifi cation referred to in paragraph (a).I, Jeff Rosewarne, Acting Secretary of the Department of Education and Early Childhood
Development, hereby approve each of the following early childhood teaching qualifi cations contained in the attached schedule (Schedule 2) under Regulation 5(2)(b) in respect of sub regulation (a) of the defi nition of teaching staff member in Regulation 5(1) of the Children’s Service Regulations 2009 (defi nition of teaching staff member).
This notice revokes the approval given to early childhood qualifi cations published in the Government Gazette on 11 August 2009 under regulation 5(1) of the Children’s Services Regulations 2009.

Regulation 5(1) of the Children’s Services Regulations 2009 defi nes ‘Certifi cate III in Children’s Services’ as a Certifi cate III in Children’s Services that –(a) is awarded by an RTO within the meaning of Part 4.1 of the Education and Training Reform
Act 2006; and(b) is approved by the Secretary under sub regulation (3).
