PICNIC CONTD.

SAUDI NATIONAL DAY Kingdom of Saudi Arabia cele-

brates its National Day on the

23rd of September every year to

commemorate the unification of

the Kingdom under King Salman

bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. National

day is a day to renew loyalty and

patriotism. This year the stu-

dents of Victory International

School celebrated their ‘Saudi

National Day’ on the 27th of

September 2018 conducted by

the Saudi staff. The celebration

was presided over by the Aca-

demic Directress Mrs. Nadira

Khizer and was attended by Mrs.

Budoor (Principal).

Dressed in hues of green and

white the students looked ele-

gant and suave. There were

many programmes on Saudi

culture and history. The day

began with the Saudi National

Anthem sung by the students

followed by the recitation of

Quran. The narrator spoke

about the developments of Saudi

Arabia, culture and its rich histo-

ry. This was followed by a Vote

of Thanks to the Custodian of

the two Holy Mosques. The

programmes though trained by

the teachers were executed by

the students and was a visual

delight. The programmes depict-

ed the Saudi lifestyle, the Islamic

heritage, Bedouin traditions and

various cultural practices of

Saudi Arabia – the land of golden

sand and mysteries.

Arabic coffee, popularly known

as the ‘Qahwa’, was served

along with other Arabic snacks.

Chocolates and candies were

distributed to kids. After the

refreshments we called it a day

and the students left home with

a feeling of pride and happiness.

This was a first of its kind activity

introduced this year by our Academ-

ic Directress Mrs. Nadira Khiz-

er.Victory has always focused on

activity-based learning. There are

different activities based on each

topic and subject that is introduced

to the students on regular basis. This

ities across all grades on the same

day. All the teachers teaching in

their respective grade(s) came up

with unique activity for their class.

The students had a great time on

this fun based learning day. Some

new and old concepts were empha-

boys were taken in a school

bus to ‘Adventure World’ in

Dhahran Mall. Fun rides, food

and refreshments from the

food court were also provided

to the kids. The students were

accompanied by their class

teachers along with few other

teachers to ensure maximum

care and safety to the children.

Grades I to IV girls were taken

to a different place for picnic

this year. On the 11th of No-

vember 2018 they were taken

to ‘Fun Time Pizza’ an Italian

restaurant. The girls had a

sumptuous day munching on

pizzas and playing in the play

area of the restaurant.

The next picnic was organized

for the students of the Kinder-

garten (KG I,II, III) to ‘Chuck E

Cheese’. Food and fun all un-

der one roof.

School picnics are one of the

best practices that our stu-

dents look forward to every

year. Annual picnic is carried

out for all grades by all the

staff of Victory International

School. Students from Kinder-

garten till Grade IX are taken

out once every year to give

them their due of fun apart

from academics.

STRESS BUSTER

P A G E 3 2 0 1 9

For students, stress is mainly due

to examination; and this pressure

to get good grades drives them

anxious. To promote good mental

health and relieve stress during

exams an awareness campaign was

organized by the school manage-

ment before the commencement of

exams. Three hundred and thirty

seven students took part in this

programme that was conducted in

the school premises.

The management conducted this

healthy awareness programme right

before the onset of exams. There

was a board kept near the examina-

tion area and students were en-

couraged to read the board. The

board was designed in such a way

that it just had a projecting picture

and once opened it provided the

students with a tip. The tips high-

lighted on the need to keep a posi-

tive attitude and measures to take

to cool one’s mind during stress.

Good music, ample sleep and happy

stomach are the few ways in which

you can relax your body and mind

to do well in any exam.

The campaign also threw light on

the need for parents to stimulate

the mental health of their children

by not being too pushy with grades.

The students were encouraged to

talk to their counsellors when in

stress.

calcium and carbohydrates. They

were provided with guidelines to be

followed for a healthy lifestyle and

tips to keep diseases at bay. They

were encouraged to bring healthy

food to school and avoid junk food.

Body Mass Index for the students

was calculated and suggestions

were given to the students accord-

ing to their range. Students above

the range were warned about the

Cultivating good eating habits are

very essential. Our school conduct-

ed a Health Awareness Programme

in the school premises.

The awareness programme was

organized by school management to

promote health and nutrition

among students.

As a growing body, the students

need food rich in vitamins, minerals,

perils of obesity. And

those who fell below

the range were told

about ways to boost

their health and pre-

vent anorexia. The

school distributed milk

and fruits to all assem-

bled and thus ended a

healthy session on ‘Food

and Nutrition’

February 2019.

Sixty students (based on academics

and smartness) were chosen to visit

the centre. Teachers along with the

selected students arrived at the

Centre to experience first-hand

state-of-the-art facilities to ignite

their creative minds. After a brief

tour to the Centre’s Children’s

Museum the students were taken

to the multimedia lab where they

got to do many experiments relat-

ed to science. It was a day to gain

knowledge and learn about the

advance technologies adapted in

ITHRA.

The students of Victory Interna-

tional School had a rare privilege to

visit King Abdulaziz Center for

World Culture in Dhahran. Also

known as ‘ITHRA’ (meaning enrich-

ment in Arabic), the new cultural

centre is a potpourri of art, human-

ities, science and culture. The cen-

tre is a trove of erudite learning for

the young minds. This educational

trip was organised on the 28th of

FUN DAY

P A G E 4 2 0 1 9

Keeping in mind the adage, “All fun

and no play makes Jack a dull boy”,

the students of Victory Internation-

al School enjoyed a day full of intri-

guing sessions and games.

The day began with lot of gaiety

and the first session was ‘Art and

Craft’. In this session the students’

creative faculty were put to test.

They were taught many intriguing

craft works and also encouraged to

draw. Another activity saw them

learn on the need of recycling. This

session on ‘Recycling of Goods’

threw light on the need to recycle

and how fun it can be to use recy-

cled products. This session was

followed by a movie. An animated

film was screened which the stu-

dents watched enthusiastically.

Film was followed by a session to

test their wits and wisdom. The

‘Quiz programme’ saw the little

ones excitedly shouting out an-

swers. There were also some

board games and other variety of

games to make their day more fun.

The students actively took part in

the above mentioned activities and

indeed there was a lot of learning

through fun!

while on the road. ‘Speed thrills but

kills’ like the saying, the team em-

phasised the need to drive within

speed limits. They also spoke of

various rules on how to follow the

signal, the need to stop when the

lights turn red and so on. Another

pertinent point they raised was on

the issue of not fastening the seat-

belt and driving. Pedestrian rules

were also highlighted such as the

As part of social awareness, the

students of Victory International

Schools were taken to Al Rashid

Mall on the 1st of April 2019. The

mall was conducting an event called

‘BEEP-BEEP’ that focussed on Traf-

fic Rules and Safety for grade I and

II.

Traffic authorities had come to

demonstrate the need of rules

use of foot path and zebra crossing.

Overall it was an enlightening day

for the students as

they learnt a lot

more than the

usual traffic rules.

day. Perfect backgrounds, sound

check, cameras, hosts were also the

area of focus. Teachers made sure

that the dresses to be worn on the

Annual Day match with the song to

be performed on and the props

acted as an additional highlight.

Understanding the seriousness of

the event, the students followed

their teachers to make sure they

put their best foot forward on the

Annual

Day.

The en-

thusiasm of the mothers and end-

less efforts of the teachers and

students made this day a Success.

Everything went as per plan and we

could hear “Once More” at the end

of almost every act. The event was

concluded up with refreshments,

cheers and smiles.

March of 2019 witnessed the Annu-

al Day of kindergarten and grades I

to III. The most colourful day of

Victory International School was

this day where we cheered cute

kids all dressed up and perform on

the stage. There were different

dance forms and skits showcasing

different cultures of the world.

The preparation for this event had

started months before the actual
