Since its opening on 22 nd April 1958, it has been a residential school for boys established on the foundation of the high ideals of Swami Vivekananda, implementing the man-making and character-building ideals of education as propounded by him. The Vidyalaya is envisioned in the image of Indian Gurukul system where precious traditions and cherished values of the past and modern educational concepts have been integrated. It presents a synthesis of all that is best of the eastern and western models of education. It follows the trail as a paradigm of excellence to promote its culture and tradition. The lush green natural surroundings have given it a special identity. The Vidyalaya, its students and staff, all enjoy the blessings of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada devi and Swami Vivekananda. Till 1975, it was the only Multipurpose School in West Bengal which offered instructions in six streams, viz. Science, Humanities, Agriculture, Technical, Commerce and Fine Arts. Thereafter, in 1976 the Vidyalaya was converted into a Secondary School under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, with Bengali and English as medium of instructions. Students can choose either Bengali or Hindi as the first language. Since 2005, the Higher Secondary Course has been introduced in the Science stream only with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics along with compulsory subjects Bengali, Hindi and English. The Higher Secondary Course is affiliated to the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. The Vidyalaya consists of two separate campuses, each with its own school buildings and hostels. The boys of the junior classes (V-VII) stay in Junior Section campus. They have a nice three-storied school building and three hostels. They also have their own extensive play ground, a library specially meant for young readers and a small auditorium for cultural activities. The boys of senior classes (VIII-XII) are put up in the Senior Section campus where they have their own facilities. They have a large two-storied school building, seven hostels and laboratories. There are also playgrounds, a stadium, a gymnasium, a spacious auditorium and a library. About 960 students are on the roll of the Vidyalaya at present. Students come here from different parts of India. They also have different religious faiths. Some of them belong to poorer sections of the society. The staff and students coming from different regions of India live here as members of one family. 1. New Session : The new session of the Vidyalaya commenced on January, 02, 2018. Respected Br. Sandipan (Br. Turiyachaitanya) assumed the charge of Headmaster from this day. He met the teachers and staff at Room 46 and respected Secretary Maharaj introduced him formally. 142 students were admitted to class V (BM & EM) for the academic year 2018 and classes for the students of class V began on Thursday, 4 th January 2018 after an inaugural meeting at the Junior Assembly Hall.     1. New Session :

    2. School Recognitions:

    a) Mr. Sourabh Das, School Co-ordinator, External examinations was awarded the “BEST INTERNATIONAL TEACHER AWARD – 2016-17” by the Science Olympiad Foundation. The award includes a citation, trophy and a cash award of Rs. 10,000/-.

    b) For the second year in succession, Vidyalaya received the Best School Award in the senior category

    for the first time based on the brilliant performance of our students in the Senior Talent search test conducted by JBNSTS.

    5. Performance in the Secondary & Higher Secondary Examinations:

    The performance of our students in the school final examinations has always been brilliant. Every year

    more than one hundred boys appear at the Madhyamik Pariksha and achieve hundred percent success.

    Many times, our students secured top ranks in the state merit list. In the past, it so happened that the

    top-most rank was secured by our students for four consecutive years. This year in the Madhyamik

    Examination, 102 out of 128 students secured 90% and above marks; while 126 students got 80% and

    above marks.

    This year in the Higher Secondary Examination, 53 out of 78 students secured 90% and above

    marks; while 77 students got 80% and above marks. Three students of our school came within

    top 10 ranks in the state.

    k) On 30 September, 2018 boys of IX participated in a poster competition on ‘Swachchata Hi Seva’

    – organised by office of the Development Commissioner, under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India on the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of M. K. Ganguli.     Swami Vivekananda was organised by Advaita Ashrama for classes VII to IX on 11 September, 2018 and it was organised for class X boys on 19 September, 2018. Our students participated there.

    m) Our students participated in the Quiz, Extempore, Debate Competition on the occasion of Vikram Sarabkai Space Exhibition, ISKO at Bidhan Sishu Udyan from 27 September, 2018 to 29 September, 2018.

    n) Students participated in the ‘Satya Agraha’ 2018 organised by Agantuk (Santoshpur) on 3 September, 2018 and 4 September, 2018.

    o) JBNSTS: 13 students of class XI have been selected as JBNSTS Junior Scholars-2018. In addition to this, 4 more students of class XI have selected as the JBNSTS Junior Encouragement Awardee-2018.

    7. Parent - Teacher Meetings:

    a) Headmaster Maharaj & Swami Satpremananda Maharaj met the class V guardians on 11th February 2018 and explained to them various aspects of the functioning of the Vidyalaya.

    b) Headmaster Maharaj and Swami Brahmeswarananda Maharaj met the guardians of class XI at Room no. 46 on 25th February 2018.

    c) School management met with the guardians of class X on 13 May, 2018 and discussed various aspects of academic and hostel related issues.

    d) On 04.08.2018 and 11.08.2018 – Parent Teacher Meetings were held in Senior and Junior section respectively. Parents met the teachers and discussed about the academic progress of their wards and after Meetings, teachers and guardians partake lunch-prasad at Bhavanas.

    8. Celebrations :

    a) The 156th Tithi Puja celebration of Swamiji was held on 8th January, 2018 at V. C. Hall. The Chief Guest, Dr. Swarup Prasad Ghosh, Registrar, Techno India College of Technology, Kolkata, presided over the meeting. Swami Stavapriyananda, Joint Director, R. K. Mission, Loksikshaparishad, Narendrapur was present.

    b) The National Youth Day was celebrated on 12th January 2018. On that day, Vidyalaya Praktanis took out a morning procession from Golpark to the Mango-grove of the Vidyalaya. A function was held in the V. C. Hall after 3rd period. The Chief-guest was Shri Tarun Goswami, Resident

    Editor, the Millennium post, Kolkata and Swami Ajitatmananda, from Ramakrishna Mission Blind Boys’ Academy presided over the function.

    c) The Saraswati Puja was held on 22nd January 2018 at the Assembly Hall of the Vidyalaya Senior Section. Monks, Students, Ex-students, teachers, staff and devotees participated and offered Anjali after the puja and took Prasad.

    d) The 121st Birth–Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was held on 23rd January 2018. Dr. Sauvik Mukhopadhyay, Associate Professor, Department of History, University of Calcutta was present as the Chief-guest. The programme included Flag-hoisting, National Anthem, March-past by cadets etc.

    e) The Republic Day celebration was observed on 26th January 2018 and the Chief-guest was Mr. Arup Raha, former Air-chief Marshal, Kolkata.

    f) Vidyarthi Vrata was held on 04th February 2018 for the newly admitted class V boys in order to absorb them ceremonially to our Vidyalaya life amidst the presence of guardians, teachers, guests and monks.

    g) The Mahashivarati was observed with great piety by our students on 14th February 2018. In the evening special pujas and bhajans were performed at Senior Section Assembly Hall. Students poured water and milk on Shivalinga and they took sumptuous Prasad after a daylong fast.

    h) The 183rd Janmatithi of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna Deva was celebrated on 17th February, 2018

    with due solemnity. A colourful procession of the students and staff from all the units of the

    ashrama was taken out. In the meeting held at the V.C. Hall after the procession, Vidyalaya

    students’ magazine ‘Phalguni - 2018’ was released by our Secretary Maharaj.

    i) The Dolyatra or Holi was observed on 1st March 2018. Boys enjoyed this festival of colours and played with gulal.

    j) Annual Celebration of the Diamond Jubilee Year 2018: Our Annual Celebration was observed from 26th to 29th January, 2018 in a gorgeous way as this year is the Diamond Jubilee year of the Vidyalaya along with the Platinum Jubilee of our Ashrama and Golden Jubilee of Industrial Training Centre i) On 26th January, at about 3.15 pm, the inaugural lamp of the Platinum Jubilee of the

    Ashrama was lit by Most Revered Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math and Revered Swami Shivamayanandaji Maharaj, Vice-President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission inaugurated Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Vidyalaya. Annual Exhibition of the Vidyalaya was inaugurated by Dr. Partha Chatterjee, Hon’ble Education Minister, who visited some of our departments and spoke highly about our boys’ artistic works and creativity. There were so many departments and projects. Monks, Guests, Ex-students, common people visited the Exhibition and rooms in large number and some departments like English, Geography, History, Sports, Little Scientists, Work-Education made them spell – bound. The whole school building was illuminated with colorful lights and the whole building looked like a piece of artcreated by Michael Angelo. In the evening on the Sister Nivedita Mancha, Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty and Swami Kripakarananda, an ex-student of Vidyalaya, charmed the audience with their classical melodious voice.

    ii) On 27th January, 2018 in the morning session a seminar was organised by the Vidyalaya at the college auditorium on “Ideal Schools can Produce Ideal Nation.” Dr. Suranjan Das, Vice Chancellor of Jadavpur University inaugurated the seminar, Swami Atmapriyananda, Vice Chancellor of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute delivered the key note address. Swami Bodhasarananda, Assistant General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math was the Chairman of the seminar. Smt. Urmimala Basu, eminent elocutionist spoke. Sri Shakti Prasad Misra, Former assistant teacher, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Purulia was the moderator of the seminar. In the concluding session Swami Sumanasanandaji Maharaj, President, Ramakrishna Centre, Durban, South Africa delivered the concluding note. Students and teachers from various Ramakrishna Mission schools of West Bengal and other local schools participated in the

    seminar. The whole programme was smoothly arranged and conducted by our teachers, staff under the guidance of our respected Headmaster Maharaj. At 7.30 pm all were entertained to Drama – ‘Nader Nimai’ at main pandal by our vidyalaya students.

    iii) On 28th January 2018 the Diamond Jubilee Prize Distribution Ceremony of Vidyalaya was held. The Chief-Guest was Shri Keshri Nath Tripathi, Honorable Governor of West Bengal. Swami Suviranandaji Maharaj, General Secretary, Swami Abhiramanandaji Maharaj, Asstt. General Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission graced the occasion. Mayor of Kolkata, Mr. Sovan Chatterjee was also present. Sri Alapan Bandyopadhyay, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Govt. of West Bengal delivered an excellent speech on “Sixty Years Excellence of Vidyalaya”.

    iv) On 29th January 2018, from 1.30 pm at the main pandal, 29 boys demonstrated Yogasana and appeared in colourful dresses in ‘Go-As-You-Like’ competition.

    v) A Book Fair was organized in connection with the Annual Celebration from 26th to 29th January 2018 at Room no – 2. The Scholastic India Publication House was present there.

    k) On 9th May, 2018, 158th Rabindra Jayanti was celebrated at the Mango-grove in the morning. The Chief Guest of the function was Swami Shastrajnanandaji Maharaj, Principal, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur Math. The students of classes VIII, IX and X staged short dramas based on Tagore’s works in the evening in the Vidyalaya Assembly Hall.

    l) 76th Ashrama Foundation Day was observed on 18 April, 2018. After a colourful function at the V.C. Hall, all took ‘lunch – prasad’ in the Vidyalaya hostels. Students of junior section sang. Abhishek Kasyap, a student of class X delivered a speech.

    m) Flutist Sri Dilip Naskar presented a flute recital at Junior Section Assembly Hall on 1 May, 2018. He was accompanied by Sri Amiya Majhi in Harmonium and Sri Somen Dutta in Tabla.

    n) The Rathayatra was celebrated on 14th July, 2018. The school was closed on that day. The boys of the junior section pulled the well-decorated Rath in Ashrama campus and all enjoyed.

    o) The 72 Independence Day was celebrated on the 15th August, 2018. The chief – guest was Shri Jawhar Sircar, I.A.S. former CEO, Prasar Bharati. The programme included Flag Hoisting, National Anthem, March-past by cadets, speech, song etc.

    p) The Teachers’ Day was observed on 5th September at the Vidyalaya senior section Assembly Hall. Swami Shuddhidanandaji Maharaj from Advaita Ashrama, Kolkata and Prof. (Dr.) Sajalkumar Bhattacharyya (Head, Department of English) from Kazi Nazrul University graced the occasion. Revered Secretary Maharaj, Dr. Prasanta Giri, Headmaster Maharaj delivered speeches. All monastic members, teaching and non-teaching staff were present. Teachers of Vidyalaya presented a Geeti Alekhya - ‘Parampara’. After the function, all were given a sumptuous Prasad. In the afternoon, a friendly football match was played between the Vidyalaya Staff and Ashrama Staff. Vidyalaya Staff won the match 2 – 0.

    q) The ‘Vidyarthi Vrata’ Diksha ceremony of newly admitted students of class XI was held on the premises of the Vidyalaya on 25th August. Special Puja was organized on that day.

    r) On the occasion of the 125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago Addresses, a programme was held at Vivekananda Centenary Hall on 15 September, 2018. The chief guest was Swami Jnanavratananda Maharaj, Trustee of R.K.M., Belur Math and the guest of Honour was Dr. Somenath Bhattacharya, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Jadavpur University.

    s) Srikrishna Janmastami was celebrated in the senior-section Assembly Hall on 2 September, 2018. t) On 7 October, 2018, a cultural programme was held to observe Mahalaya. Students presented a

    ‘Greeti-alekhya’ – The Coming of Mothers, in Words & Songs. Students were allowed to see the ‘Mahalaya’ programme.

    u) Bhavana Jayantis:-

    i) Swami Turiyananda Jayanti was celebrated on January 1, 2018 and Swami Yogananda Jayanti was observed on 5th March 2018. The boys of respective bhavanas decorated their bhavanas beautifully and special pujas were arranged. At noon ‘Prasad’ was served to all.

    ii) Bhavan Jayanties were observed – by offering pujas and distributing Prasad at noon. Junior boys decorated their Bhavanas in a colourful way. On 26 August, 2018, Swami Niranjanananda Jayanti, on 8 September 2018, Swami Advaitananda Jayanti, on 31 October, 2018, Swami Abhedananda Jayanti, on 9 October, 2018, Swami Akhandananda Jayanti, on 22 November, 2018, Swami Vijnanananda Jayanti were observed.

    9. Games & Sports : ‘Healthy mind lives in a healthy body’—keeping in conformity with this proverb,

    Physical Education has been made compulsory here for all the boys of classes V to X. Boys take part

    in the morning drill, physical exercises, indoor and outdoor games regularly. We organize year-

    round programme of games and sports activities for the boys. The major outdoor games are Football,

    Cricket, Volley-ball, Basketball and Badminton. Table-Tennis, Yogasana and Carrom are the popular

    indoor games. In order to induce healthy competition among the boys, several tournaments are also

    conducted. Our boys meet different educational institutions in friendly Cricket and Football matches.

    a) Annual Sports: - The Annual Sports of the Ashrama’s Institutions were held on 9th and 10th February 2018. Mr. Shyam Thapa (Ex-international football player) graced the ceremony as the chief-guest and he gave away the prizes to the successful ones.     11. Educational Excursions :

    a) Students of class XI, after their annual examination went for an Educational Tour to Guwahati – Shillong - Cherrapunjee along with monastic members, teaching & non-teaching staff members from 30th January 2018 - 4th February 2018.

    b) A one-day Educational Excursion to places of Interest in Kolkata (Belur Math, Swamiji’s house etc.) was organized for the class XII boys on 18th February 2018.

    c) A one-day Educational tour in and around Kolkata was arranged for class VI boys on 24th February 2018.

    d) Class VII students went on an educational tour to Tarakeswar, Kamarpukur, Joyrambati and Bishnupur on 4th and 5th March, 2018.

    e) Class VIII boys went for a 2 - day educational tour to Mayapur and Murshidabad on 4th and 5th March, 2018.

    f) 4 days Educational Tour was arranged for students of class IX to Jamshedpur and Ranchi surrounding places from 6th to 9th March 2018.

    12. Seminars and Popular talks: In order to widen the intellectual horizon of our students and the teachers, a diversified program of

    seminars, workshops and popular talks are organized throughout the year. The following are the

    programs organized this year.

    a) Dr. Prof. Muktipada Sinha, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Education, Jadavpur University has delivered a popular talk on “How to know yourselves” on Saturday 10th March 2018 in the Vidyalaya Assembly Hall (Junior Section).

    b) Sri Chandril Bhattacharya, an alumnus of the Vidyalaya, Bengali Columnist, Lyricist, Poet, Singer delivered a popular talk on 17 March, 2018. Boys of class VIII to X attended the lecture.

    c) Swami Mahaprjnanananda, Dept. of Zoology, R. K. Mission Vidyamandira, Belur Math delivered a Popular Talk on “A Journey to Indira Gandhi wild life sanctuary – the most important part of Western ghat – Srilanka Bio-diversity hotspot” on Saturday 31 March, 2018. Boys of class VIII to X attended the lecture.

    d) Dr. Kiranmay Das, Assistant Professor of Statistics, I.S.I., Kolkata, delivered a popular talk on “Uncertainty, Randomness and Inductive Science” on Tuesday, 1 May, 2018 to the boys from Classes VIII to X.

    e) On 2 May, 2018. Dr. Amitava Roy, Scientist, National Institute of Health, U.S.A. and an alumnus of 1990 Madhyamik Batch delivered a lecture on “How Computer, Physics and Mathematics can help to understand Biology – a mini introduction to computational Biology” to class XII boys.

    f) All the guardians of X and XI attended the Seminar Lecture by Prof. Soumyendu Dutta, MCOM, LLB, FCA, ACS, an alumnus of our Vidyalaya on 08.07.2018 at our College Hall on the topic “Career options cum Overview and some basic personal traits of an individual to pursue only career path.”

    g) Students of IX and X attended “National Level Science, Technology, Culture and Education Exhibition and Seminar” also known as 6th Indian National Exhibition Cum Fair 2018 on Saturday, 28.07.2018 at Bengal Human Resource Development Foundation at KMDA Ground, Patuli.

    h) On the occasion of 125th Birth Anniversary of Acharya Satyendranath Bose, Bangiya Bijnan Parishad arranged a Seminar Lecture in our Vidyalaya. Prof. (Dr.) Goutam Ganguly, an alumnus of our Vidyalaya (1983) of Development of Physics, University of Calcutta delivered the seminar lecture on “Satyen Bose: Life and Works” on Saturday, 28th July, 2018 at Room no 46. Students of XI & XII attended the lecture.

    i) Dr. Madhab Roy, clinical Assistant Professor, Tufts University, USA and an alumnus of 1983 Madhyamik batch of our Vidyalaya delivered a lecture on ‘Cardio-Vascular Diseases’ on 05.08.2018 at the Senior Section Assembly Hall to the students of VIII to X.

    j) On 11.08.2018, Sri Anindya Kar, retired Deputy General Manager of ONGC Ltd, a noted Notaphilist interacted with the students of VIII and IX at Senior section Assembly Hall.

    k) Dr. Swapan Bhattacharyya, Former Head, Department of Micro Biology, Maulana Azad College, Kolkata, an alumnus of our Vidyalaya delivered a popular talk on “The Wonderful World of Microbes – Development and Opportunities” on Sunday, 19th August, 2018. The students of XI & XII attended the talk.

    l) On 6 October, 2018 Prof. Tapas Bhattacharya (Visiting Faculty, Department of Earth Science, IISER, Kolkata delivered a popular talk on ‘Wondering Continents and Plate Tectonics’ at senior section Assembly Hall. Students of VIII and IX attended the function.

    13. Higher Secondary Section :

    i) The Admission Test for in-taking few (twenty) outside students in class XI was held on 13.06.2018. 60 boys from our Vidyalaya have been directly admitted on the basis of their academic performance in both school’s examinations and the Board’s examination. The result of the Aptitude Test was published on 16 June, 2018. New boys took admission on 18 June, 2018. The classes started on 21 June, 2018.

    14. Workshops:

    i) Department of Mathematics organised ‘Diamond Jubilee Seminar Lecture’ on 14 May, 2018 at Senior Section Assembly Hall. Students from VIII to X attended the seminar. Dr. Partha Sarathi Mukhopadhyay, Department of Mathematics, R.K. M. Residential College (Autonomous) delivered a lecture on – “What does the divider do in your Geometry Box”?

    ii) Class X boys attended the first Swami Mumukshananda Memorial oration on ‘Kalidaser Kabye Shib’ by Prof. Samiran Chandra Chakraborty at Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, on 3

    April, 2018. iii) Fortis Hospital and Kidney Institute organised a training programme of Basic life support at our

    Vidyalaya on 21.07.2018 at Senior Section Assembly Hall. All the students of class XI attended the training programme.

    iv) On 01.08.2018 oral Hygienic Day was observed in our Vidyalaya Senior Section Assembly Hall by IDA, West Bengal. Students from VIII to X attended the function.

    15. Miscellaneous :

    a) A GET TOGETHER in connection with the Annual celebration, 2018 was held on 19th February 2018 at the Aban Udyan. A short cultural function was held and in that function boys from different departments were awarded for their hard labour in exhibition. The best department prizes went to English (among non-science group) and Mathematics (among Science – group) departments. Respected Secretary Maharaj and Headmaster Maharaj were present. From this year, the gardeners were rewarded for their tireless effort to colour our campus with various flowers and plants.

    b) A special puja for Madhyamik boys at Saradananda Bhavana was performed on 10th March, the post X boys and their parents prayed for their success and took Prasad.

    c) A training for the Laboratory attendant attached to EMRSs was organized in Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur from 12th February 2018 to 13th February 2018. 7 Lab attendants from different EMRS attended the training. It is an initiative of Backward Class Welfare & Tribal Development Directorate, Govt. of West Bengal.

    d) Patent Office, Kolkata, Dept. of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India organized a seminar on Intellectual Property Rights Awareness Program” at our Vidyalaya on 15th February, 2018 at room no 46. Students of class XI were present.

    e) On 10 May and 11 May 2018 class X boys and class XII boys attended EXPO – 2018 (Higher Education in China) at Biswa Bangla convention centre, Newtown, Kolkata.

    f) On 2 April, 2018, the Rotary Club of Calcutta distributed dictionaries among the students of our Vidyalaya.

    g) On 25 April, 2018, all the teachers and non-teaching staff members of our Vidyalaya offered their ‘Pranam’ to Revered Swami Prabhanandaji Maharaj, our Ex-Headmaster as well as the ideal maker of the Vidyalaya.

    h) On 21 June, 2018, International Day of Yoga was observed at our Vidyalaya. Students from VIII to X participated in the Yoga demonstration.

    i) On 21 June, 2018, an inaugural meeting was held at Room no. 46 with newly admitted boys of class XI. Revered Swami Sandarshanandaji and Prof. Manjushree Roy, Principal of Calcutta Medical College graced the function.

    j) Revered Swami Suviranandaji Maharaj sent a mail to our respected Secretary Maharaj congratulating our boys and staff for our excellent result in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations.

    k) On 19 March, 2018 Br. Adrish Maharaj joined as the Co-ordinator of H.S. section as well as the supervisor of Examination in Senior Section. The Vidyalaya family welcomed him heartily.

    l) A special Puja was organised on 25 March, 2018 for the boys of Class XII before their Higher Secondary examination and the boys and their guardians took part in the puja.

    m) On 21 March, 2018, 50 students (VII to IX) from our school participated in the “International Deforestation Awareness Day” at Alipore Zoo. They participated in a drawing competition in which the subject was “Forest and Sustainable Cities”.

    n) Swami Nandishananda took charge as the Cashier and the Chief Housemaster of Saradananda Bhavana.

    o) Most Revered Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, President of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, stayed in the Ashrama from 14 September, 2018 to 22 September, 2018 and Diksha Ceremony was held on 18 September, 2018 and 20 September, 2018 respectively.

    p) On 12 November, 2018 a ‘Bijaya Sammilani’ was held at Room no. 46. Respected Secretary Maharaj and Headmaster Maharaj met with all monks, teachers and staff.

    16. Staff Picnic: A group of 57 members consisting of teachers, housemasters, non-teaching staff and

    monastic members of the Vidyalaya went on a visit to Joyrambati, Kamarpukur on 9 December 2018.

    17. Co-curricular Activities :

    In order to inculcate all the finer aspects of a total man, a diversified programme of educational practice

    is followed here. To motivate the students to find interests in various curricular subjects, a number of

    hobby clubs in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Geography, History, Computer were

    organized for the students of class IX. From 2015, a Robotics Hobby Club was also started in Sr. Section

    and from 2017 in Jr. Section. Boys of the Junior Section joined either the Music Hobby Club or the Scout

    or the Bratachari Troop or the Band. Students are also trained to learn the art of self-governance by

    serving on the students’ councils known as the ‘Vidyarthi Samsad’. The Samskriti Parisad organized

    different cultural programmes, celebrations and competitions throughout the year.

    18. Publications :

    A number of wall-magazines on different subjects of interests were published regularly by the

    students themselves in the Vidyalaya Hobby Clubs and in all the Bhavanas. An Annual Vidyalaya

    Magazine ‘Phalguni’ was also published where the students contributed articles in Sanskrit, Hindi,

    Bengali and English.

    2223 copies of the textbooks in History and Geography for class V Bengali Medium students written by

    our teachers and published by the Vidyalaya were reprinted and circulated among most of our schools

    in Bengal.

    19. Vidyalaya Cadet Corps & Boy-scout etc :

    The Cadets of the Vidyalaya Cadet Corps, Boy-scout, Bratachari and Band had their regular

    training during the academic session. All the cadets took part in the ceremonial parade held on Netaji

    Jayanti, Republic Day and Independence Day.

    20. Computer, Music, Fine Arts & Work Education :

    These departments remained busy during the year under qualified teachers.

    21. Vidyalaya Praktani : Ex-students are truly the assets of any institution. We feel proud of our alumni

    who have imbibed the high ideals for which this Vidyalaya stands. They are placed in different parts of

    the country and abroad. Many of them keep regular contact with the Vidyalaya and participate in the

    development activities of the Vidyalaya in particular and the Ashrama in general by helping financially

    or otherwise. We express our sincere gratitude to all who helped financially for different activities of

    the Vidyalaya. We invite cordially more participation from the members of the Praktani.

    Praktani Retreats: - This year too there was a general retreat for our ex-students on 15 – 16 December, 2018. 100 alumni from 1970 to 2008 batches took part in the retreat.

    22. Help, Scholarship & Subsidies etc.:

    A sum of Rs. 12,54,300 was given as Scholarship to 61 students of the Vidyalaya during the year. More

    than two lakh rupees were spent on the welfare of our Vidyalaya Students’ Home Staff.

    23. Donations :

    Donations can be sent by Cheque/Draft drawn in favour of ‘RKMAV STUDENTS’ HOME,

    NARENDRAPUR’ or through online donation facility through our website,

    www.rkmvnarendrapur.org. Donations to the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya are exempted from

    Income-Tax under Section 80G (5)(vi) of the Income Tax Act. 1961 vide order M. No. DIT (E)

    848/8E/109/69-70 dated 12.01.2009, which has been further extended in perpetuity by letter no.

    DIT(E)/2923/8E/109/69-70 dated 26.09.2011. They are always acknowledged.
