Introduction to Euroclad
Founded in 1981 Euro Clad has taken huge strides over three decades, consistently investing in
product and process innovation to satisfy customer needs. Cutting edge UK manufacturing
maintains Euro Clad’s position at the forefront of the metal roofing and cladding industry.
We operate a Quality Management System approved to BS EN ISO 9001:2008 and an Environmental
Management System approved to BS EN ISO 14001:2004. All Colorcoat steel used in the
manufacture of our products is certified to BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing standard and we have
also been accredited with BS OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management.
Vieo Product Introduction
The principle is simple and effective. A flat pan sheet features simple edges known as laps that fit
over and under each other, either side of the sheet. These laps sit over a stainless steel clip that is
fixed to the substrate. The laps are mechanically folded over the clip to secure the roof.
The Vieo product range can be manufactured for delivery by Euro Clad Ltd in Cardiff (Wales) or Naas
(Ireland). Site production for sheets is also available, Vieo systems can also be installed as a roof or a
wall profile. Roof penetrations are possible with Vieo roof or walls, specialist details and products
are available to enable leak free penetrations. Vieo profile sheets are supplied as 454mm wide as
standard straight profile. Bespoke width sheets are available upon request. Vieo roof systems have
BBA Approval..
The Vieo profile - Vieo profile sheets can be supplied as tapered or curved, minimum quantities
apply. The profile is secured to the roof structure using a stainless steel clip with 2 stainless steel
fixings. The sliding clip allows thermal movement of the roof sheets up and down slope but retains a
vice-like grip, firmly securing sheets against the elements.
The Vieo Edge profile is a simplified adaption of the Vieo profile, where the sheet underlap is pre-
formed with fixing holes enabling direct fixing through the sheet into a supporting structure. The
inclusion of the pre formed fixing hole in the sheet underlap removes the capability of sheet curving
and the ability to allow for thermal movement of the sheet. Therefore there are sheet length
restrictions of 12 meters and the sheet can only be supplied in a straight form – it cannot be curved.
Note that Vieo Edge and is only suitable for a cold roof application and can only be manufactured in
pre coated steel in Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra, Colorcoat LG & Urban.

System Types Available
Warm Roof - The warm roof system is insulated
within the roof system build up. The warm roof
system embraces the fundamentals of modern
metal roofing with inherent thermal performance
provided by RocSlab insulation, whilst the outer
sheet provides the look of a traditional pitched
roof.
Cold Roof - Cold roofs are for fitting over ventilated lofts where the insulation is at ceiling level,
warm roofs where roofing is over habitable space.
FAQ’S
Breather Membrane is a requirement for cold roof applications & a VCL is a requirement of
all warm roof application build ups.
There are non-penetrating “man-safe” seam clamp which are only available through
Latchways for fall arrest systems. For anchorage for PV panels you can also use a seam
clamp – available through Euroclad.
Vieo must always be continuously supported. This can be provided by 19mm WBP ply;
12mm or thicker structural grade OSB; 25mm close boarding composite roof sheets or SIPS
panelling. Warm roofs can be also be supported by Metal decking.
Where there is no requirement for BBA certification vertical applications can be fitted.
Both warm and cold Vieo Roof Systems have full British Board of Agrément Certification
ensuring its acceptance for housing constructed under the control of the NHBC.

Typical Details
Roof sheet take off
When you calculate the number of sheets required, ensure you identify the different roof areas by
name (and include on your order), divide the ridge or eaves (whichever is longer) by 454 to calculate
the number of sheets required - for example:
Eaves length = 15 metres [15000 / 454 = 33.039 = 33 Sheets]
Roof slope length = 5 metres [5000 x 454 / 100,000 = 22.7 m2]

Delivery Details
Deliveries are based upon articulated flat bed or curtain sided trailers. Sheets are packed in to
bundles for delivery, the maximum pack bundle is 30 sheets. (Depending on the sheet lengths,
approximately 300 linear metres). Packs are one tonne maximum
Lengths up to 6 metres are packed onto a wooden pallet. Sheets longer than 6 metres are bundled
into a pack and delivered resting on wooden bearers on the bed of the delivery vehicle and require a
spreader beam to move. The longest sheet lengths available for shipping is 14 metres.
Sheet lengths 6m and below require the use of a fork truck to offload from the delivery vehicle.
On Site manufacture
Is suitable where the profile requirements include sheet lengths longer than 14 metres and curved
sheet centre rise taller that access on the delivery route to site. Where sheet lengths are longer than
14 metres the mobile manufacturing machinery can be moved onto site to produce sheet lengths
upto 20 metres.
On site manufacture parameters must be discussed during quotation stage and must be
appropriately provisioned to Euroclad requirements on site. Site specific method statements and risk
assessments are supplied, additional costs are associated with onsite manufacture.
Sheet Storage
Following offloading of the sheets, we recommend that you store the packs under cover and protect
from any site debris & dust.
Offloading
The offloading of the sheets will be your responsibility and suitable offload requirements must be in
place on site prior to the delivery, arriving on site. We advise and recommend that sheet lengths
over 6 metres should be offloaded via a lifting beam using a crane hoist. If using a telehandler /
forklift to offload straight sheets less than 6 metres, extra care should be taken to avoid damaging
the flat pan of the sheets.

Flashings
Flashings are formed from material matching the sheeting in 3m lengths as standard and lengths are
joined by either an internal butt strap or the end is lapped over.
Faces greater than 200mm should be avoided. Where large faces are desired flashings are best
manufactured from post coated 2 or 3mm Aluminium.
When drawing flashings the rule is that the flanked side my not be longer than the adjacent side(s)
where the width of any face is less than 40mm.
Free sides should be welted (a 180o fold) and these welts are always 15mm and form a stiffer and
safe edge.
If sealants are used, we recommend butyl mastic strip. Sealant can be used if gun applied.
[do not use bathroom or kitchen sealant]
A full set of flashing assembly details for both the warm and cold Vieo specifications is available to
download as PDF at www.Vieoroof.com
Flashing details for roof windows
Velux and similar rooflights are best situated so that a Vieo Seam is central and the margins down
both sides are equal. These are usually fitted to a kerb upstand. Flashings can be provided and
sealed by our partner specialist companies:

Setting out clips
Measure the roof, check the squareness of the verges to the eaves and having done so choose and
mark your baseline.
Divide the length (in mm) of the ridge by 454 – or by the cover width if different – the whole number
is the number of sheets required; take the remainder and multiply by 454 = the free length available
to start and finish. If a symmetrical look is preferred measure in half of this length to begin and end,
otherwise measure in a minimum of 75mm to the edge of the first sheet.
Vapour Control Layer / Breather membrane
The VCL for warm roofing and the separating breather membrane in the cold roof are both laid along
the roof starting at the eaves, keeping the material as taut as possible they can be stapled or fixed by
galvanised roofing nails. The VCL is lapped 150mm at the edge of each strip and sealed with the
supplied butyl strip about 120mm down from the upper edge of the fixed strip. The separating
membrane is not sealed.
Insulation
Fit a galvanised steel retention angle at the eaves line to support the first row of slab.
The insulation boards for warm roofing are closely butted together with the RocBars placed and
fixed immediately to anchor the materials. The lowest run is no more than 100mm up from the
eaves. The 25mm boards can be used to correctly space the subsequent rows using the 600 width
for the first three rows at the eaves and ridge and the 1200 length for the remaining areas. The
sleeves and screws are fitted at 200mm centres along each bar and will push through the insulation.
Where the eaves gutter is to be fitted to the bottom bar fit it now ensuring the fixings do not stand
proud.
Sheet Installation (brief explanation)
Lay and align the first Vieo sheet and secure the starting edge by fitting the clips, folding the seam to
stage 1 with handseamer OP1 and fitting a standard ridge closure section over the up stand fixing it
at 200mm centres. Place the clips over the leading edge on every RocBar or at the recommended
centres if fixing on a boardand secure with two of the supplied screws. Fit the next sheet with the
inverted U shaped edge over the clips and up stand and using the handseamer OP1, crimp the
sheets at the bottom, top and every other clip thus preventing the sheet from lifting.
Proceed along the roof ensuring that each sheet is pulled taut and remains square and parallel. Once
all sheets are fitted step back and confirm that you are happy with the appearance before using the
electric tools 1 and 2 to close the seams to the required stage.
[use recommended settings]
For wall applications contact our sales office for site specific advice.
Fixed Point
Most roofs will have their fixed point at the ridge and you can screw through the pan about 25mm
down where the fixings will be sealed and hidden by the ridge assembly, otherwise the fixed point is
as detailed in the Vieo warm or cold roof drawing suite.

The MST (mechanical seaming tool) There are two MST’s available for Vieo sheet installation OP1 & OP2. To operate the tool, use an appropriate safe 110v power supply. Steel Vieo Sheets Ensure that the tool you are using is marked up as OP 1 & that the start of the sheet is handseamed using OP handseamer process. Offer the tool onto the Vieo sheets guiding the roller wheels on to the lap detail. Engage the two roller wheels on the top of the overlap. If the rollers are in the correct alignment you will be able to close the handle on the tool with only slight resistance. Pull the MST handle to push the seaming tool wheels together. If you have to force the handle, check the alignment of the wheels against the overlap – (it may help if you tip the tool forward before closing the handle.) To operate the MST ensure you have a safe working area and the correct power to the tool. Press the operation switch on the body of the tool. Aluminium Vieo Sheets Use the OP1 seaming tool, the same as Steel profiles. You will need to prepare the overlap after OP1 seam to accept the OP2 MST. Use the rubber mallet to push the overlap down towards the profile upstand. Continue to push the overlap together using the OP2 hand seaming tool for approx. 250mm. Offer the tool up to the overlap with the wheels of the MST open. Pull the MST handle to push the seaming tool wheels together. You can then pull the power trigger to operate the MST. NOTE:
The MST will only correctly seam the sheets in one direction.
The MST must have constant downward pressure when seaming the sheets.
While seaming up sheets across a roof area check the installed cover width every sheet to avoid sheet creepage and to maintain the squareness of the sheet.

Installation of the Vieo sheet There are two seaming operation to use in the overlap, Op1 (90 degrees) & Op1, then Op2 (max 30 degrees). The Op2 is only for use on Aluminium sheets. Sequence: Steel Sheets Hand Seam OP1 – MST Seam OP1 Aluminium Sheets Hand Seam OP1 – MST Seam OP1 – Rubber Mallet - Hand Seam OP2 - MST OP2 Installing the first Sheet: You must install the first row of clips onto the roof structure before installing the first Vieo sheet. You should be able to assume that the building edge is square ready to accept the roof sheets, however you should always check to get a straight line. If your first line of clips are not straight you will encounter problems as you continue to install sheets across the roof. Assemble the clip for installation - Push the two clip parts together ensuring that the retaining clip can slide freely over the clip base. Align your first clip onto the roof, install at the appropriate centres ensuring the first line of clips is straight – lined up with any specific datum point on the roof area. Lower the sheet into place pushing the sheet overlap onto the clips. Use the Handseamer OP1 to attach the overlap onto the clips. Hand seaming process The larger flat plate of the tool should be vertical and the smaller bar is used to fold the overlap leg under in to position. Place the tool flat against the sheet profile and apply pressure to hold the seam up stand straight while pushing the other tool handle down towards the sheet to form the OP1 overlap. Release the tool and slide the tool further up the sheet and repeat the process. Continue until you have seamed up 150mm. The sheet is ready to accept the mechanical seaming tool for operation 1.
