From the Dublin area Iniscealtra Sailing Club (ISC) Mountshannon can be accessed via two distinct routes:

M7 Limerick Road: Leaving Dublin take the M7 towards Limerick. Continue on M7 until J27 Birdhill. Leaving the motorway follow signs for Killaloe/Ballina. Once across the traffic light controlled bridge in Killaloe/Ballina, turn right heading for Tuamgraney, Scarriff and Mountshannon. Entering Mountshannon village, take the first right turn after the petrol station which is on your right hand side. The sailing club will be 200mts down on the right.

M6 Galway Road: Leaving Dublin take the M6 towards Galway. Follow the M6 until J15 Ballinasloe West. Leaving the motorway turn left and head for Portumna. From Portumna head in the signposted direction of Whitegate, Mountshannon and Scarriff. In Mountshannon turn left at the Hotel, follow the road down to the harbour veering right to the sailing club which will be on the left.

THE VILLAGE OF MOUNTSHANON

The Village of Mountshannon has a number of establishments where sailors and supporters can go to eat and drink while the J24 Westerns are taking place.

The village has two bars, Keane’s Bar and Cois na Habhna.

The Mountshannon Hotel in the village serves bar food from midday until 9pm every day.

The Snug Café is open in the evening serves food {great pizza} and has a bar.

The local shop Bourke’s which has a café attached will be open for breakfast from early morning and has a good supply groceries, breads, pastries, ice creams etc.

The local petrol station also has a good supply of groceries etc.

There is a Farmers Market in the village (opposite the park) on Saturdays from 11am – 3pm selling fresh produce from Pasties, Breads, Cakes, Veg, Plants, Crafts etc.

THE SAILING CLUB

Iniscealtra Sailing Club will have camping facilities for a number of visitors and the club house will be available to all those camping.

The Clubs “Club Room” has fridge/freezer, washing up and Tea/Coffee making facilities.

The Club House has no bar facility and members and visitors are advised to Bring Your Own in terms of wine and beers. The local shop has a limited range of wines etc. so if you have a favourite tipple don’t forget to pack it.
