TRAINING

As in 2013/2014, one of the objectives of the club was to build trip leading and safety leadership capacity within the club by subsidizing trip leader and safety training.

First Aid training had poor turn-out and no-shows in 2013. We should focus on trip leader and swiftwater training instead this year.

Chris Ryman will be offering trip leader training on May 30. BB will subsidize ½ cost in exchange for leading 3 trips.

David will follow up with Chris Armstrong about a one day Swifwater rescue course.

Maximum budget for training for 2014/2015 is $1000.

FINANCIAL REPORT

Bob reviewed revenues and expenses from 2013 season (see 2013 financial statement).

MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION

Aly has shortened the form and cominbed BB and CKBC forms . David add to the website.

Endless Adventure will have blank forms but will not collect fees or forms. All forms and money will go to Aly or other club executive to reduce confusion and lost forms/money.

EVENTS

River Stewardship

There is interest in river stewardship by the club.

a) Clean-up event at put-in/take out. Roger will organize the first event, likely on Sunday May 25.

b) Club could sponsor a bottle/can bin at the takeout (Steve will look into options). Can fundraise and ask raft companies and Slocan River Watch if they wish to help. Scott: Could be high maintenance and result in more trash and cans at the takeout. Alternatively, club could provide bags/volunteers to clean up each Wednesday night paddle.

Little Slocan Race

Will run similar to last year on weekend after festival. June 29.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The following committee members were elected:

President – Scott Cox

Communications officer – David Roscoe

Membership – Alison Robson

Treasurer – Bob Dodge

Trip Coordinator – Steven Ethier

River Stewardship – Roger McMillen

Social Coordinator – open

FESTIVAL

Festival running same as previous year, with Endless Adventure in charge, and BB providing volunteer support and receiving $10 per participant.

Andy will be the river coordinator. All other coordinator roles are filled but many more volunteers are needed. Bob is the volunteer coordinator.

Steve - Jason K needs to contact Dagger rep. to ask for specific boat.

Suggest to Endless Adventure to give discount to children for fees to help recruit youth.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT PADDLES

There is interest in resuming club BBQ after the paddle nights like they used to do several years ago.

Members agreed to do BBQ once a month. No beer provided. Toby has BBQ and potential venue (also has freezer for donated meat if we get any). Bob has old club BBQ but unsure of condition. Free/cheap buns might be available from Kootenay Bakery. Would safeway or save-on donate burgers?

Communicate with Funky Lemon which nights (once a month) will do the after paddle socializing there.

Club-run Wednesday Night Paddles Will start soon, likely the 2nd week of May. Steve will organize first WNP , which will be used to get all trip leaders on same page for code of conduct, safety talk, and guidelines.

Bob- reminder on club policy on youth boaters – under 18 allowed to come but need pre-arranged paddle buddy and need to be active members.

OTHER ISSUES

What does club want to do with trailer and boats, paddles, helmets, float bags? --> Leave them there. Make them available for members for rental. Toby – should make some of the float bags more accessible for WNP for those who forget.
