GOLD SPONSORS Wednesday 15 th June 2016 at the Institution of Civil Engineers One Great George Street. Westminster, London SW1P 3AA 13 th Annual BGA Conference On the 15 th June the British Geotechnical Association will hold its 13 th Annual Conference at the Institution of Civil Engineers. This is a full day conference to showcase the best of British research and practice in geotechnical engineering, with leading speakers from research and industry, a poster display, an industry exhibition and concluding with an informal drinks reception. This year the conference has been structured by themes rather than having separate half day sessions for research and practice although the speakers have been drawn from both backgrounds. In the morning there will be a discussion on issues related to flooding and then a talk highlighting the Institution of Civil Engineers’ initiatives related to knowledge transfer. During the course of the morning session young members of the BGA will be represented by this year’s winner of the Cooling Prize who will give her prize winning presentation. The winner of the Prize for the best Geotechnical MSc dissertation will also give a presentation summarising the results of their research. Following lunch, the BGA’s AGM will take place at which prizes will be presented to the recipients of various BGA prizes and awards. After the AGM there will be talks by speakers who will discuss topics related to monitoring. One speaker will outline Crossrail’s experiences of handling large quantities of monitoring data and another will discuss the development of standards for monitoring. There will then be a talk about the use of BIM in geotechnical engineering. The second part of the afternoon session will include a talk on the geotechnical challenges of the Northern Line Extension both in terms of the ground conditions and the construction issues to be overcome. The conference will conclude with a talk that will cover research related

13th Annual BGA ConferenceOn the 15th June the British Geotechnical Association will hold its 13 th Annual Conference at the Institution of Civil Engineers.

The conference will conclude with a talk that will cover research related to temporary works design which is supported by the Temporary Works Forum and finally a drinks reception in the Exhibition Area of the Great Hall will offer a networking opportunity in a relaxed atmosphere.

There are opportunities for commercial organisations to sponsor the conference and limited opportunities to exhibit products and services. Space for the exhibition will be on a first come first served basis. Members of the BGA are invited to prepare posters on engineering or research projects for display during the conference. Shelagh Fleming will be able to provide more details and may be contacted on +44 (0) 20 7665 2007 or email: [email protected] .

The conference is free to attend but for catering purposes you are asked to register in advance at: https://www.ice.org.uk/events/british-geotechnical-association-annual-conference
