Steps1. Make your self available to many opportunities for God to communicate with you.

A. Quiet time.B. The Bible.C. Preaching and teaching.D. Studies.

2. Cultivate your relationship with the Father.3. Work to know God’s voice so intimately that you immediately recognize other voices that are

not God.4. Submit to God’s Lordship, ask him to silence your thoughts, desires, and opinions, your mind

will and emotions, your flesh.5. Resist the devil, ask the Lord to silence the enemy’s voice and his distractions, and to remove

all hindrances from you hearing in your spirit.6. Expect an answer from God, ask the Father to help you hear him. 7. Run it all through a test pattern.

Test It1. Is it scriptural? It has to line up with what God reveals in his word, if not it is not God.2. Does it exalt Christ? it has got to be all about Christ, not you, he must be the center of the lead-

ing.3. Does it produce good fruit? The fruit of the Spirit is all about godly stuff, nothing else! If what you

are hearing ways you down or makes you feel guilty, it’s probably not from the Lord. However God will convict us at times. The difference between guilt and conviction is that conviction comes with hope and forgiveness guilt comes with shame and, and mocking.

4. Do other Christians confirm it? The body of Christ is important, learn to trust other believers who are mature in their faith, ask them to pray with you.

5. Does God bring it to pass? God means what he says and says what he means. If God tells you something or shows you something, he will make it happen.

Things to Grow you

1. Pursue

1. Spend 5 minutes a day reading the scripture out loud.2. Remember to always listen for God in every situation throughout the day. 3. Pray for those who come to mind.4. Ask the Lord for a scripture reference the He would like you to read, and ask Him what He would like you to learn from it, don't assume, always right it down.5. Ask the Lord to tell you something about you, something He likes about you, or something you've done that pleases Him.6. Always test what you hear.

2. Refine

1. Are there aspects of your lifestyle that keep you from having a prayerful life? If so purposefully get rid of these things one at a time to make room for God.2. Scripturally remind yourself of the truths about God speaking to you, you are his child, His sheep, and you want to hear from the Father. John 16:12-16, John 10:24-313. Be dedicated. Luke 11: 5-13

3. Stabilize.

1. Don't read into what God is saying.2. Don't run ahead.3. Take each step the Lord gives you.4. Focus on Him.

It’s About Life!

God’s Word brings life! God’s Word never leaves someone or something the same. However, many Christians have lost the sense of awe at receiving a word from God. God’s Word is far too important for us not to take seriously. There is too much at stake for us to be careless with a word from God. The Bible is full of examples of God speaking to people. We should encourage each other to share what we are hearing from God. When God speaks to His people, it is because God is on a mission to redeem a lost world. God expects people to adjust their lives to Him so that He can work through them to bring others to Himself. Work to know God’s voice so intimately that you immediately recog-nize the other voices that are not God. He will never lead you in a way that contradicts His Word. God is consistent in the way He leads. By the process of taking every thought captive, you can ask God to silence your thoughts and the devil’s distractions in order to clear your mind to hear God. This will take some practice, but don’t make it complicated or weird. As believers in the Lord Jesus, we have been given power to overcome the flesh and the devil (see 2 Peter 1:3). It’s actually more difficult NOT to hear God! It’s just that we are so used to not hearing Him, it seems hard. God prom-ises to guide us when we are humble and want to obey.

8 Attitudes and steps

1. Lord, cleanse me by Your blood: Since receiving divine revelation is at the heart of biblical medi-tation, you must prepare yourself to receive from the Holy Spirit by repenting and being cleansed by the blood of the Lamb. You must be obedient to previous revelations from God (Matt. 7:6), (Is. 59:1,2; I Jn. 1:9).

2. Lord, grant me a teachable attitude: Revelation is given to those who maintain an attitude of hu-mility, and it is withheld from the proud and the arrogant. So keep an open, humble attitude before God, allowing Him the freedom to shed greater light on any ideas you currently hold and to alter them as He sees fit (Jas. 4:6; II Pet. 1:19).

3. Lord, I will not use my faculties myself: You can do nothing of your own initiative but only what you hear and see by the Spirit (Jn. 5:19,20,30). You have a mind to use, but also a mind to present to God so He can use it and fill it with anointed reason and divine vision (Prov. 3:5-7; Rom. 12:1,2). If you use your mind yourself, it is a dead work (Heb. 6:1,2).

4. Lord, I pray that the eyes of my heart might be enlightened: Slow down as you read, mulling the text over and over in your heart and mind, praying constantly for God to give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him (Eph. 1:17,18; Ps. 119:18).

5. Lord, I present the abilities to reason and to imagine to You to fill and flow through by Your Spirit: Meditation involves presenting your faculties to God for Him to fill and use. These include your left-brain reasoning capacities as well as your right-brain visual capacities. Look for the river of God (i.e. “Spirit flow”) to guide and fill both hemispheres, granting you anointed reasoning and dream and vision (Jn. 7:37-39). worship can assist you, as can writing as you go through the dis-covery process (II Kings 3:15).

6. Lord, show me the solution to the problem I am facing: Focused attention brings additional ener-gies of concentration of heart and mind, which help release revelation. For example, note the differ-ence between a ray of sunlight hitting a piece of paper, and sunlight going through a magnifying glass to hit a piece of paper. The focused energy creates a ray so concentrated that the paper bursts into flames. When you have a hunger to master a new understanding and discipline, that hungry and searching heart will cause you to see things you would not normally see (Matt. 5:6).

7. Thank You, Lord, for what You have shown me: Realizing that the revelation came from the in-dwelling Holy Spirit, give all the glory to God for what has been revealed (Eph. 3:21).

8. Test It as you always do and seek confirmation.
