Principal’s Corner

It has been an exciting month at Ripona. We were able to put the finishing touches to our new library. The shelves have been installed and the library will be moved to its new location this month (see the pictures on the PFC page). We have Mr. Smit, Mr. Sesser and Mr. Lyons to thank for the installation of the shelving. If you can volunteer to help us move books back please contact the school. We have purchased and installed new interactive projectors in each classroom. Teachers are enjoying the new technologies with their students. We also implemented a new reading program called Read 180 for our 4th – 7th grade students. The program helps students who are struggling with reading and brings them up to grade level. Also this month our 6th grade students will be at Science Camp and I hear they are very excited. This month we also will have our Easter Break from March 17th-21st. When we come back we will be preparing

for our annual state testing. This year we will be testing all 3rd through 8th grade with the new Common Core Standards on line. This is a test year to see how well our computers can handle the demand for the test. All 5th and 8th grade students will also be taking the science test. I look forward to seeing how well our students will do with the testing. Thank you and have a wonderful March.

5 th Grade Parent Meeting This meeting will center on Science

Camp for next year. We will discuss the recycling center, fundraising and other items important to Science Camp. We will meet in room 32 at 6:00pm. Please make every effort to attend this meeting. Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration will take place at Park View School on March 11th, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. All registrations for 2014 / 2015 Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten will be taken at this time. If you have questions please call the school.

Parent Faculty Club News…Monthly Meeting

Our March PFC meeting will be held on Thursday, March 13th in the library at 6:30pm. As always, free babysitting will be provided. We will be giving all the information on the Spring Fling scheduled for March 28th.

Spring Fling – Old Fashion Carnival Fun!

Mark your calendars for March 28, 2014,

from 5:00-8:00 pm. Ripona will be

the site of a fun family event – Spring Fling Old Fashion Carnival! Dinner will be available for purchase by “On the Scene Catering Company.” The “Cup-Cake Lady” and “Shaved Ice” vendor will be there too! We will have games, bingo, and much much more. Fliers will be coming home soon with more information. It will be great fun…see you there!
