Vigyan Ashram Fab Lab Projects 2006-07
LED lights• Standardized six circuits for lamp,
torches etc. on DC as well as AC circuits.
Started selling kits for making LED lamps. Trained 11 electrician in manufacturing of lights.
Human Power based Applications
• For the remote areas where wind , solar, grid power not feasible.
• Developed mono wheel generator. A PMG generator running on 1200rpms, 12V, 6Amp.
• Won ‘Development Marketplace Award’ by World bank for $ 20000 to install cycles in 50 tribal schools.
Students Projects
• Total 38 students worked in the Lab for 4hrs/week for one year.
• Mainly 10 class school dropouts !
• Worked on different projects in a group.

Students project in the lab• A cutter developed in house –
Market price Rs.12000 ( $ 300 ) , we made it in less that Rs.6000 ( $ 150 ).
• A Improved charcoal stove : With 12V , 7.5AH battery for efficient air circulation.
Lights in hostels are on through out night. If puts off , nobody switches it off themselves..
Light will be ‘ON’ automatically, if someone goes near to toiler door and will remain ‘ON’ for 5 min and then switched off itself.
• We have common kitchen.
• If light goes off during dinner. Just clap together to put emergency lamp on.
Students Project……. Innovative Applications of standard hobby circuits.
Bell cum light controllerInstalled in Cow shed. To give alarm, if cow frees
herself.
Wanted to use for fencing using mirrors and light sensor.
