Supetar is the main town on the island of Brač. It is connected to the mainland with a ferry line from Split, which in the summer commutes almost every hour. The journey takes aprox. 45 minutes, and as an alternative there is also a catamaran which reaches Supetar in only 20 minutes. From all the Dalmatain islands, Brač has the best transport connection with the mainland, even in winter months; often there are people commuting to work every day from and to the island.

Brač also has its own airport, located only 20 kilometres from Supetar, where private airport transfer is also available. Split is the second biggest city in Croatia, and the largest along the coast. It has an international airport which is located 35 minutes drive from Split old town center.

Brač, with an area of 396 square kilometres, is the largest of the Dalmatian islands, and with its tallest peak, Vidovagora, measuring 778 metres, it has the highest island point in the Adriatic. Located 5km from the Croatian mainland, the island has a population of 14,436, with more than 3,300 inhabitants in the main town of Supertar and down to less than two dozen in the village of Murvica. The island has been inhabited since palaeolithic times, and during the Bronze and Iron age the interior of the island was popluted by Illyrian tribes. During the Greek colonisation of the Adriatic in the 4th century BC Brač was not colonised but there is evidence they did trade with the Illyrian tribes. Brač has spent a large part of its history under foreign rule, with Romans finally conquering Dalmatia in 9AD and building villas, cisterns and especially quarries on the island. Diocletian’s Palace, which went on to become Split, was built from limestone quarried on Brač, and agriculture also began in this era, especially wine and olives.

Today Brač is one of the most popular islands to visit in Croatia, with the tourist season starting in May and ending in late Ocober. Brač has a great number of tourists visiting the island throughout the summer. On the island there are various beaches and bays, some secluded ones where you can enjoy crystal clear sea and the sound of crickets, to the most famous beach, Zlatni Rat, so beautiful that it is on everyone’s list to visit when on this amazing island.

NEARBY TOWNS AND SITES


When visiting Brac you will be passing through Split, a town with 1700 years of history, with the famous Diocletian’s Palace.

In November 1979 UNESCO, in line with the international convention on cultural and natural heritage, adopted a proposal that the historic city of Split built around the Palace should be included in the register of World Cultural Heritage.

Even though the palace is protected by UNESCO it is still residential, so there are a great abundance of bars, restaurants, shops and small galleries, which make this town centre “alive”, especially in the summer months.

In just a couple hours drive from Split you can be at the Krka National Park. At these amazing waterfalls there are various paths, sightseeing tours and presentations, boat trips, souvenir shops, a museum and restaurants. There are also several archeological remains of unpreserved fortresses in the park’s vicinity dating back to as far as Roman times.

South from Split, another stunning coastal town to visit is Dubrovnik, driving distance from Split may vary depending on the season, but approximately 3 hours along beautiful coast roads will bring you to this magical town.

Another option is to reach Dubrovink by catamaran or ferry leaving from Split.

In 1979, the city of Dubrovnik joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites and is among the 10 best preserved medieval walled cities in the world. The walls of Dubrovnik have often “starred” in movies and tv series because of their magnificant beauty.

The island of Brač has a great variety of interesting and unique places for tourists to visit and explore, such as the top of the island Brač, Vidova gora with its peak of 778 m, from where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the mid Dalmatian islands. As Brač is well know for its white limestone that is recognised for its quality and has been used all around the world, a visit to a stonemason, such as the one in Pučišće, is also an interesting thing to do.

With its fantastic heritage and history, you can find many historical sites to visit on the island of Brač. We would highly recommend Blace Monastery or the Dragon Cave in Škrip.

MULTISPORT ISLAND ADVENTURE – Island Brač, CroatiaThis island is also an ideal destination for an action packed holiday as it provides excellent conditions for sea kayaking, windsurfing, rock climbing, mountain biking, trekking, sailing and many more sport activities. Whether a beginner or experienced sportsperson, you are sure to enjoy your vacation to its fullest!

Kayaking tours start from Sutivan along the North-West coast of the island of Brač, taking in the view of beautiful bays and beaches. We will take time to swim and relax in one of the bays and continue to Bobovišća when we are ready for some more paddling. Upon arrival to Bobovišća you will have plenty of time to walk around and explore this typical small Dalmatian town. Return is possible by van.

MOUNTAIN BIKING – FROM THE SUMMIT TO THE SEA!

Transfer by van to Vidova Gora ( 778 m ), where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of mid Dalmatian islands. From Vidova Gora the ride is downhill by white road to Nerežišće and other typical inland villages (Donji Humac, Dračevica and Ložišće ). Cycling surrounded by well groomed hundred-year-old olive groves and thick pine woods. Most of the way is off-road on well maintained paths and trails. This tour ends by the sea.

Our climbing day is an ideal introduction to the world of rock climbing. Climbing in school starts in Ložišće where both experienced climbers and novices can find routes of desired difficulty. If you are an experienced climber you will first spend some time with your instructor in Ložišće area and later move on to one of many routes of various difficulties. Many of the sectors have routes of different difficulties so if you are experienced climber travelling with inexperienced friend we can always find a suitable place for both of you to climb.

Spend a day learning how to windsurf and enjoy this perfect summer activity. If you have never tried windsurfing before, our intense learning session is perfect for you. If you already have some experience, our instructors will help you to learn more advanced techniques and tricks. If you prefer to spend a day enjoying sailing instead of windsurfing you can choose to do so.

Sailing is an ideal summer activity and our fun and easy to maneuver Topper Omegas will ensure you feel the action! You will be sailing in Sutivan area and enjoy the view of this typical Mediterranean town with white stone facades, red roofs and palm trees.
