How To Get There

Private Transport First alternative is to take the South Super Highway, then pass by Sto. Tomas, Batangas Â–

San Pablo Â– Tiaong Â–Candelaria- Sariaya Â–Â– Tayabas -Mauban. Total road distance is about 168kms. and average travel time for this route would be 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 hours depending on the traffic

condition. The Tayabas-Mauban road that was undergoing construction before is alreadycompleted and cemented. This route is the national highway road where most private and publicvehicles pass and will be inconvenient to motorists during peak season. This is a good route whentravelling very early in the morning and can take you only 3 to 4 hours driving.

Second alternative from Manila is to pass by South Super Highway, then proceed to

Calamba, Laguna. The route is now to pass by the towns of Los BaÃ±os Â– Sta. Cruz - Pagsanjan Â–Cavinti Â– Lusiana Â– Lucban Â–Tayabas before finally getting to Mauban, Quezon, the townproper. This route is shorter if you are coming from Rizal- Sta. Cruz and you can pass via Sampalocthen Mauban. Sampaloc-Mauban route has a little rough road (on-going construction butpassable) which is about 700 meters long. If you want to avoid the rough road, then proceed toTayabas then Mauban, after reaching Lucban. The Calamba route gives the alternate route to Maubanavoiding the traffic in national highway. It takes only about 4 hours if guests will leave Manila veryearly in the morning. It has less traffic (except during holidays where the South Super Highway and

Laguna towns can be really packed) and has a great view of the Makiling. It is also ideal for those tiredof the city since the view along this route is mostly very countryside (rice fields, mountains, etc.).

Third alternative route is via Antipolo, which can take around 4 - 5 hours average.Travelers will pass by the towns of: Teresa, Morong, Sta. Maria Â– Fami Â– Siniloan Â– Paete Â–Lumban Â– Pagsanjan Â– Cavinti Â– Lusiana Â– Lucban, and Sampaloc ( Sampaloc -Mauban road ,

same as Alternative 2) before reaching Mauban. On holidays like during Holy Week, this is the mostideal route to avoid traffic in South Super Highway and Los BaÃ±os.

From Mauban, guests can board a boat going to Cagbalete Island Beach Camp Resort -VillaCleofas, Cagbalete Island. Private boat trips straight to the site in Cagbalete Island costs P4,500 (two-way). These trips can accommodate about 20 people (during summer time) and 15 people (during"Amihan") inside the banca, depending on the size of the boat. The boat ride takes around 45 minutes.

Public Transport

For commuters, the Jac Liner/JAM Liner/Lucena Lines Station in Kamias - Edsa/Cubao

or in Buendia-Taft (LRT) has hourly trips (2:00 am is the first trip) to Lucena. The bus ride costsaround P300 and takes no more than three hours. At the Lucena City Grand Terminal, where all busesdrop by, mini buses (non-aircon) bound for Mauban leave on an hourly interval. The one-hour and-30minutes travel costs around P60. First trip is 5 am and last trip for mini bus is 6 pm. There are alsoair-conditioned vans stationed in Lucena SM Mall going to Mauban for approximately P80 and firstand last trip for aircon vans is 9 am and 9 pm respectively. This is faster than mini buses which willtake only 1 hour travel time.

Passenger boats to Cagbalete Island (trips at 10:00 am and 4:00 pm daily only) are availablefor P40 per head. The drop-off point will be the "Sabang" (small fishing village in the island). FromSabang, visitors can take a hike of about 1.5 km. going to Villa Cleofas, "Paet", Cagbalete

Island ( the location of Cagbalete Island Camping Resort ). There are children in Sabang whowill guide you going to Villa Cleofas and carry your stuffs as well. There are also road signs along



the trail. For those who does not want to hike or carry heavy stuffs , a small banca (5 pax capacity)can be rented in Sabang going to Villa Cleofas at a cost of around P400.00 or more depending on thesize of the boat.

How to Get There

Cagbalete Island is under the jurisdiction of the town of Mauban, Quezon. To go there, catch a Lucenabound bus in Kamias, Cubao, Alabang or Buendia. From Buendia, Jac Liner, Jam Transit, Lucena

Liner and Ceres Transport have buses bound to Lucena that stop at Lucena Grand Central Terminal.Buses leave almost every hour every day for approximately three hours bus ride from Buendia, Pasay.Fare is at P210.00.

From Lucena Grand Central Terminal, catch a non-air con mini bus to Mauban for almost two hourstravel time, fare is around P50-60. The last trip is at 6 pm. Alternatively, aircon buses to Mauban arelocated in SM City Lucena for P80-90, with trip up to 9 pm. Travel time via aircon bus is at 1 hour.

Upon getting off the bus in Mauban, it is only a short walk to the port where passenger boats toCagbalete Island are stationed. Trips are scheduled at 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM daily, for P40-50 per

person. The boats can ferry around 50-60 people. They usually drop off passengers at “Sabang”although they sometimes drop off their passengers directly to the south eastern part of the island wherethe resorts Villa Cleofas and MVT Sto. Nino are located. You may also arrange a private boat throughyour resort, rate is P4,000 two-way ( Mauban-Cagbalete-Mauban) and can ferry up to 25 people.

If you are going to the Pansacola, Villa Cleofas or MVT Sto. Niño from Sabang, you can hire a smallbanca there for around P400.00 one way or you can take the 1.5 KM walk .

Where to Stay

Tourists usually stay on the south eastern part of the island. There are three known resorts in the area –the Villa Cleofas, Pansacola Beach Resort and MVT Sto. Niño Beach Resort.

MVT Sto. Niño is located beside Villa Cleofas. They have rooms and open cottages and offer a morequiet atmosphere. Boat ride from Mauban to Cagbalete Island can be rough at times and generally rough during the ‘ber’months up to February, so prepare to be wet. Entrance fee at Villa Cleofas is P30.00, and P100.00 forMVT Sto. Niño. If you are staying in Villa Cleofas, you can arrange them to prepare meals for you or

you can use their kitchen, dining hall and their facilities for cooking and dining, usage is on first-come-first-served basis and you have to clean the area and wash all utilities you used.
