Highlighted Summer Specialty Camps and Lessons

Group Swim Lessons for VillaSport CampersWeeks 2 - 5, 7 - 10Monday - Thursday | 8:15am - 8:40am

Campers can take advantage of swim lessons before camp begins. Campers will check into VillaKids at 8:00am and be escorted to and from swim lessons. Group lessons follow our Starfish Swimming curriculum, which emphasizes water safety and encourages skills development by providing effective awards of achievement as the junior swimmer advances his or her skills.

Swim Camp Week 4, Week 7Ages 7 - 17 | 9:00am - 1:00pm

The focus of Swim Camp is to boost performance with physical conditioning, technical improvements, and mental discipline. Experienced instructors will evaluate each swimmer’s strengths and weaknesses. Emphasis is placed on stroke drills and progression, with surface videotaping and review. We will focus on one of the four strokes each day, and the last day will focus on flip turns and the individual medley. This program will enhance the swimmer’s self-esteem and develop focus and sportsmanship. This camp is not a learn-to-swim program. Summer league swimmers wanting stroke refinement as they head into their championship season should not miss this opportunity.

Prerequisites: Each participant must be able to complete 50 yards of continuous swimming in each of the four strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. Participants do not need to be registered USS swimmers to participate.

STORiES

Kay Hill

The Woodlands, TX

I joined VillaSport in August 2012. I have always worked out and been active in sports. A few months into my membership, I realized I was going to have to take a break from working out. Why? Because a friend needed me more.

My friend was very ill with a genetic kidney disease. I began testing to become a kidney donor. After thorough health screening, I was deemed to be a great donor candidate and we had matched enough factors. On December 4, my kidney was transplanted into my friend and it began to work immediately. The results were amazing. He is now healthy and continues to do well.

As for me, I am feeling great. Yes, it did take a couple of months to recover, and I’m still working on getting back into shape. I have been released to full activities and recently participated in the indoor triathlon. I would encourage anyone who has a relative or friend who needs a kidney transplant to go and see what it is all about. It’s not without pain or a little hardship, but in the end you will return to your good health and a very sick person will be given a chance at better health.

My donor was so grateful that he offered to buy me tons of stuff, but all I wanted was for him to be healthy. And he is, so we settled on him arranging tickets for me to see my favorite, Pink, in concert. My picture is from that concert, about 2.5 months after surgery.
