Course Evaluation

Through this course I have further learned how vital Gerber Accumark V10 is to know and

understand for upcoming fashion designers. In this course, we learned how to draft a piece from

scratch, modify a sloper, and digitize paper patterns into the program. Through these lessons, we

learned a large variety of Gerber functions, as well as the many different paths one action can have.

Beyond Gerber, this course gave us a much more in-depth look at tech packs, how to make our

own and what is to be included. This is vital knowledge for the industry and before this course, I would

not have been confident on my ability to complete a tech pack for a company without being shown first.

Now I think I will be able to apply not only my knowledge on tech packs, but my knowledge of the

program confidently for a company, if I was given no guideline.

I have definitely implemented what has been taught and will look to utilize this program for my

senior collection. My collection includes a lot of the same pattern piece shapes, but each a different

measurement. With my knowledge of Gerber, it will be a lot quicker to modify each piece and plot, as

opposed to creating new paper patterns by hand each time.

The most difficult part of this course for me was ensuring that the measurements from the

program were directly translated correctly to the tech pack. I ran into this especially in this last

assignment. For my senior project, one of my garments is relatively abstract, containing a lot of volume

and strange measurements. Comparing the measurements with the finished piece was difficult, but in

the end, I think I was able to correctly communicate the information.
