Vinyasa brings a tremendous expansion of prana, or vital energy, inducing a profound psychophysical effect. In this workshop, we will explore the idea of Vinyasa as a contemplative form. Using some key Vinyasa sequences with the breath as our guide, and we will see how subtle changes in the quality of the breath can deepen our experience of the poses. Everyone will discover resources to cultivate a smoother, stronger, and more rhythmic Vinyasa practice. Backbending Backbends are the most uplifting of the poses. They increase prana while teaching us to hold ourselves steadily in a posture of openness and vulnerability. In the Ashtanga Vinyasa system, backbends are integrated into every vinyasa, and each sequence concludes with a distinct sequence of backbends. In this workshop, we will learn to approach backbends with proper alignment, refined awareness and concerted movement. Techniques will be offered for progressive deepening. VINYASA & BACKBENDINGYOGA WORKSHOP

Vinyasa The signature of Vinyasa Yoga is the graceful integration of posture, gaze and breath.

BackbendingBackbends are the most uplifting of the poses.
