■ Sample CollectionBody fluids or organ biopsy samples are collected for investigation. Appropriate vials and personal protection equipment (PPE) ensure sample integrity and personnel safety.

■ Sample Preparation Clinical samples are deactivated, fixed or preserved to minimise the potential risk of handling before further testing.

■ Storage & TransportSamples are labelled, stored and transported in line with regulatory requirements and testing needs; using suitable reagents and maintaining cold chain.

■ Lab Preparation Testing areas and equipment are cleansed and disinfected to remove chemical and biological contaminants (microbes, unwanted DNA and RNAse) that can interfere with the testing outcome.

■ Sample ResuspensionSamples are resuspended, processed and aliquoted, which may be stored in cryogenic units for long term research use.

■ ResultsFor accurate results, proper equipment maintenance and calibration, reagent storage and handling is essential.

■ Waste DisposalClinical and lab waste pose many health and environmental hazards and must be carefully categorised, and disposed of accordingly.

Sample Preparation Our large range of Stuart® products, BioCote® treated, facilitates sample processing while offering antimicrobial properties. Cole-Parmer® consumables enable sterile handling and disposal solutions for virus contaminated samples.

Sample Collection Depending on the type of infection, saliva, blood, urine, stool, spinal fluid, organ biopsy or other tissue samples are collected. Appropriate collection containers and safety equipment is used to ensure sample integrity and safety of the medical personnel.
