What are viruses?• They (sometimes) look like normal programs
• They are hidden inside files
• They look innocent
• They spread without notice

How do they get on computers?
• Infected removable storage (Pen drive, cd etc)
• Internet, hidden in downloaded files.
• Through a network that contains an infected computer

Why are viruses evil?
• They damage computers
• Capture your personal information and spread it around.
• Slow your computer down
• Use your computer for spreading

How to protect your computers and USB Sticks?
• Install (Up to date) anti virus software.

USB Stick?
• Navigate to “My Computer”
• Right click on the desired Pen Drive, and select
“Scan with AVG Free”

What is a virus vault and how is it used?
• Files that cannot be healed or deleted
• Quarantined space
• Prevents spreading

Prevent Spreading• Scan your Pen drive
• Do not use pen drives external (Internet café)*
• Do not use pen drives/cd’s/floppy disks in the computer lab
• Don’t insert your pen drive into someone else’s computer. Even though he tells you it’s clean.*
• Report usage of pen drives * (Unless your pen drive is equipped with write protection) 12
