5.) HARTFORD HOSPITAL

According to Stuart Markowitz, MD, FACR (President) the history of Hartford Hospital

is long and illustrations. Founded in 1854, it was the first hospital to be built in Hartford. An

industrial explosion that killed or injured many people spurred the community to build the area’s

first hospital, and from those early beginnings has grown to be the leading medical center in

Hartford and one of the finest hospitals in New England.

Hartford Hospital performed the first successful heart transplant in the state,

and pioneered the use of robotics in surgery.   They maintain the only Level 1 Trauma Center in

the region, and operate the state’s only air ambulance system, LIFE STAR.

Their medical staff is the finest in the state.  Many of our physicians enjoy national

reputations as being among the most experienced practitioners in their fields.  Their nursing staff

is also superbly trained and attentive.  Their entire team of professionals takes great pride in the

quality of the care we provide and in the integrity of our institution.

1.) Sun Star Cebu

Hospital may house or aspire to own the latest technology in treatment, but few have

integrated computer systems that may mean something as mundane as a shorter time at the

billing section or as dramatic as preventing a fatal allergic reaction.

In a dialogue on the benefits of information technology (IT) in the medical field, officials

of Cebu hospitals agreed with IT solutions providers that having an integrated automation

system would not only make the operations of medical institutions more efficient, it

would also save lives.

Jerry Rapes, chief executive officer of IT solutions developer Exist, said a database

showing a patient’s medical history, accessible at the emergency unit of a hospital, is one

way to avoid fatal mistakes and help medical practitioners provide the right treatment.

“A patient may arrive at the ER (emergency room) unconscious, so there’s no way to get

accurate information unless the medical staff is able to access a database with the medical

history of the patient.

Dr. Mike Muin, chief information officer of the Medical City, said computerization also

enables hospital administrators to plan and develop more services.

Muin said integrating medical informatics will address many issues faced by Philippine

hospitals, such as voluminous paperwork and files, countless of forms to fill up and store,

re-encoding across systems, errors, and difficulties in tracking and retrieving records.

Computers are one of the most important inventions of mankind these past decades. Its

contribution in data processing and information retrieval is congruous in various fields

like medicine and health services.

The idea that the use of computers in the workplace is a convenient tool for business

transactions and Local Community Hospitals are included hence Haag et. al. (2006)'s

book entitled "Computing Concepts" is important to study because it develops new

computer systems for three primary reasons:

3.) BAGUIO GENERAL HOSPITAL & MEDICAL CENTER

According to BGHMC Staff   in July 1900, on orders of William Howard Taft, Head of

the Second Philippine Commission, Dean Conant Worcester with three other companions set

forth to discover a cold place up in the Cordillera... Baguio, the mountain paradise.

The Baguio General Hospital & Medical Center is a four 400 bed capacity Tertiary

Medical and Training Center with Medical Ancillary Services and a retained hospital under

national government.  The Hospital serves clients from the City of Baguio and the different

provinces and cities in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Region I and Region II.  It attends

to patients, their relatives and watchers who come to the hospital as opportunities and occasions

to promote good health practices and comprehensive health care for 105 years.    It is situated in

the southern part of the Cordillera Region which is accessible by five (5) major national road

networks:  La Union – Pangasinan – Kennon Road/ Marcos Highway Road; La Union –

Naguilian Road; Bontoc - Benguet Road; and Ambuklao – Kapangan Road By land

transportation, it is located 5 minutes away from the central business district, Baguio City, the

summer capital of the Philippines.   It is a premiere, referral center north of Manila, accredited in

all services in their respective affiliated societies as well as in the Bureau of Health Facilities.   It

comprises of the Old Two-Storey Hospital Building, Pay Services (Suites) Building, the newly

constructed Four (4) Storey Flavier Building, Two (2) Storey Psychiatry Building and the Annex

Building for the Infectious Diseases which will be under construction.  The hospital caters

primarily to 80-90% indigent patients and only 10-20% paying patients.

Now, the Rizal Medical Center, with an innovative of expanding scheme of development, is increasing emphasis on human resource development through continuing education, participation in research and civic activities, and trainees and hospital involvement not only in the hospital but also in community affairs.

1.) SQUARE HOSPITALS

Square Hospitals Limited, a concern of Square Group is a 320-bed tertiary care hospital. The hospital is an affiliate partner of Methodist Healthcare, Memphis, Tennessee, USA, Sing Health, Singapore, Bangkok Hospital Medical Centre, Thailand and Christian Medical College, Vellore, India. 

Square Hospital is located in the heart of Dhaka and aims to serve greater portion of the capital city. At present it comprises of two buildings on either side of Panthapath connected by an over-bridge. The main hospital building is 18 stories and is approximately 450,000 sq.ft. The second building (ASTRAS) is located across the street and is 16 stories with 136,000 sq.ft. The second building is expected to be operational by 2011. Both facilities are constructed in accordance with US Fire and Building safety standards

The outpatient department of this hospital can serve up to 1200 patients daily, through 60 examination rooms. To ensure optimum healthcare-hospitality, the patients are closely monitored in their waiting times in outpatient clinics, emergency and admissions.

5.) TAIPEI VETERANS GENERAL HOSPITAL

Court was set up in 47 years on July 1, beginning March 48 doors, emergency operations,

the same year, was officially opened on November 1. Land area 30.356936 hectares, with a total

floor area of 545,203.83 square meters, the main building has CKS floor, Siyuan Building, long

brothel, outpatient building, causing Tak House, nerve regeneration center, physically disabled

centers, power centers. Initially set to 600 beds, medical services are limited to the veterans in

Taiwan, year after year after opening and Yu Rong dependents, public, labor, agriculture,

fisheries protection and the general public. Successive build one, two, three outpatient building,

from the initial daily outpatient visits more than 200 passengers, to the current day to about eight

thousand people; coping outpatient increases gradually amplified beds, now has 2,991. Hospital

employs 6,048 (1,051 physicians, 2,706 nurses, technicians, 1359, 431 administrative staff,

technical workers 501) to form a strong medical team, equipped with advanced medical

equipment, accurate diagnosis and treatment for patients various diseases.

According Gurong Min, in central and southern Taiwan has to build Taichung and

Kaohsiung Branch; Taichung Branch on 31 October 1971 opening, 77 July independently

Taichung Veterans General Hospital; Kaohsiung Branch in 79 years October 31 opened in 82

years on July 1 independently Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital. Support Advisory Council

1.) VALENZUELA GENERAL HOSPITAL

Valenzuela General Hospital, initially known as Valenzuela Emergency Hospital, was

established through a local council in 1979 as a 25-bed secondary hospital under LGU

supervision and funding.  The hospital was originally housed in a renovated municipal hall in

Polo, Valenzuela.   It was nationalized on January 1985 directly under Region III through PD

811.   It was later named Valenzuela District Hospital.  

In 1987, through EO 119, it was absorbed by the newly created DOH-NCR under District

Health Office No. I.   In 1992, through RA 7218, it was upgraded into a 100-bed secondary

hospital.   In 1998, with the release of additional plantilla of employees including medical staff,

VGH became departmentalized into 4 basic medical departments namely: Obstetrics-

Gynecology, Surgery, Medicine and Pediatrics.  

1979 – 1984 25 bed capacity Emergency Hospital under the

Municipal Government of Valenzuela located at

Marikina Valley Medical Center, an impressive 7-storey twin-structure edifice designed elegantly with features and ambiance of a luxury hotel, stands on a 2,060 sq. m. lot along Sumulong Highway corner Aguinaldo St., Barangay Sto. Nino, with a floor area of approximately 6,000 sq. m. The left wing houses the fully air-conditioned out-patient department designed for patient convenience and comfort. The right wing houses the in-patients with about 100 beds, also fully air-conditioned. It likewise has complete laboratory and diagnostic facilities, 6 operating rooms, 2 delivery rooms, NICU, an ICU, a rehabilitation unit and dialysis section. The MARTINEZ MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, popularly known for quite a time as the

Country Clinic, started way back in 1936, as a small private clinic owned by the late Dr. Antonio

C. Martinez and his energetic wife Mrs. Luz A. Martinez. It is located at 198 A. Mabini St.,

Caloocan City. Being a competent and resourceful physician, it did not take long before Dr.

Martinez deemed it necessary to hospitalize some of his serious patients. He put up a space to

house 12 to 15 patients and made possible the establishment of the Country Clinic & Hospital

which was registered in 1947.

As years rolled by unknowingly, there was a crying need for more space practitioners

around the vicinity and nearby towns began bringing their patients to this clinic, so much so, that

Dr. Martinez worked out for the ex- pansion of a 30 bed capacity hospital. In 1952, more nurses

& doctors were taken to give better service to the ever increasing patients especially so that this

hospital is patronized by big establishments as the San Miguel Corporation, Luzon Stevedoring

Corporation, The Alhambra Industries, and many others. Late in 1961, the construction was

finished and its permit to operate a 100 bed capacity hospital was granted by the Department of

Health on the same year. The Hospital was departmentalized and competent Heads of each

department were selected. Specialists, well-known in their respective lines were taken in as

Consultants. Monthly Medical Seminars was proposed and enacted for educational research and

currative purposes. Activities like cases-conferences, outdoor meetings, policy problems, patient

centered conferences were presented and started.

similar on the present study. The proponents relate and differentiate the research based on the

flow of their system/network analysis from the proposed study.

The architecture and design specialization will help gain the technical leadership skills

that will need to design and implement high-quality system/networks that support EAMC needs.

And also will learn some ideas how to design, maintain, enhance and to improve the proposed

system. This specialization will also build knowledge of developing security and flow of the

PBIM System.
