About SIGMA Services, Inc. SIGMA Services, Inc. (Sigma) is a special effects company with large business depth, resources and means.  As a leading provider of special effects solutions, we leverage the capabilities of technology, vision, flames, fog, con‐fetti, water and our global presence to enhance the effi‐ciencies and effectiveness of delivering results.  Sigma provides the illusions used in film, television, theater, entertainment industries to simulate the imagined events in a story are traditionally called special effects.  We utilize special effects to enhance the performance, not to be the performance.  Our services includes the support of the integration of information, transporta‐tion, implementation, development, training, warehous‐ing, material handling, packaging and management.    The name Sigma was taken from the Greek letter which in mathematics means summation or total.  Combining Sigma with Services and it represents our mission “To provide complete and total service at the highest qual‐ity”.    Sigma Services, Inc. was founded in 1976 by Rick Flem‐ing .  The first introduction into the entertainment world was Mickey’s Birthday Land at Walt Disney World.     Why Sigma? Our proven past performance, experience and company credibility from preliminary concept to project imple‐mentation. We have the team to take your IDEA and turn it into reality.     The benefit to choosing Sigma is One Partner with the ability to provide Right Product—Right Support—On Time— On Budget, with Global experience teamed with local knowledge to deliver the right solution.    There is always a solution!  

History Sigma Services, Inc. was founded as general contractors which built custom homes and commercial building until the early 1980's.  An engineering division was added as well as an industrial contracting division which included marine and freight car repair.  Sigma had one of the first private mobile freight car repair facilities in the US with over 9,000 cars under maintenance agreements in central Florida.  The marine repair was completely mobile and responsible for the maintenance of ocean going barges, tug boats and other marine equipment.  Our industrial group constructed and repaired industrial and chemical plants, cement manufacturing plants, fertilizer plants, CO2 and cryogenic plants, etc.  Our engineering division worked with our industrial construction group as well independent design and research.   Our introduction to entertainment was when Disney re‐quested that Sigma design/build the cryogenic piping sys‐tem for Birthday Land.  That was the turning point toward becoming a design/ build special effects company.  With our industrial background, we were able to recreate ef‐fects that we worked to eliminate in the industrial side of the business.  We have completed many projects and we believe that marriage of industrial and entertainment contracting gives the client the best, safest and the most economical solutions to meet their needs.  We have been able to infuse the technology of heavy industry to enter‐tainment allowing us to develop new effects and improve existing effects by making them safer, less expensive, more efficient and/or smaller.    In our early years we specialized in mechanical effects and cryogenic effects.  We developed the CO2 powered con‐fetti blower (Confetti Gerb).  Our  Low Smoke Generator (LSG) has become the industry standard for producing low lying fog.  Sigma produced NRTL listed line of gas flame effects complying with NFPA 160 and UL 508.  We devel‐oped and patented the first liquid propane flame cannon – one of the largest theatrical flames in the world.   Our innovative approach to flame helped us in designing the Olympic Flame in Turin with it’s ability to light and oper‐ate in winds in excess of 50mph.  We have introduced a commercial line of COLOR FLAME using a liquid fuel.  Our “Firewater Flame System” choreographed with music is a spectacular performance of the liquid fuel Isopar.    

Flames Effects Innovative flame effects for the entertainment industry are one of our many services. The many products offered meet NFPA160 and UL508 standards. The FireFly, DragonFly and Tiki Torche flame systems are Applied Research Labs listed NRTL products. The FireFly Flame System is a mini propane flame unit that is an economical solution for small applications that require a real flame effect. These units can be operated directly off the fuel tank, with no gas accumulator. The FireFly complies with applicable codes and bears the ARL testing labs certification. The FireFly uses a standing pilot system. The DragonFly Flame System is an economical solution for applications that require a large flame effect up to 30 feet high! The system comes complete with controller, accu-mulator tank and all cables and hoses. The DragonFly com-plies with applicable codes and bears the ARL testing Lab's certification and uses a standing pilot system. controlled by a Intermittent Pilot Module to assure reliable and safe light-off. Our Tiki Torches are an economical solution for applica-tions requiring a safe torch effect. They can be used with standard propane tanks or with natural gas. The Tiki Torches have electric ignition and automatic re-strike, and incorporate a flame safeguard controller to ensure a reli-able and safe light-off. They also comply with applicable codes and standards. The Tiki Torches are available in a portable configuration for easy relocation, or a permanent configuration with a mounting base. The Intelligent FX System Sigma Services, Inc. is constantly working to provide inno-vative special effects for the entertainment industry. Several years ago, we introduced our CO2 Jet system that is capable of shooting CO2 blasts up to 30' high. In 2005, we intro-duced our new Firewater Flame System that produces rapid-firing flame effects capable of precisely hitting cues in a programmed show. In 2006, we introduced the next logical step in the evolution of special effects. The Intelligent FX System incorporates dynamic motion bases to our already spectacular effects. We offer both the CO2 Jets and Firewa-ter systems mounted to an intelligent DMX controlled yoke to create spectacular dynamic effects never before seen on this scale.

Fog & Smoke Effects 

We offer many different types of fog and smoke effects, from a low-lying fog to a smoke filled room to small steam leaks. The Low Smoke Generator (LSG) is a system produces an in-credible low-lying fog effect. The system utilizes a smoke machine and a special cryogenic unit, the LSG. This system combined with a CO2 Dewar tank, produces a constant, large volume of fog at the push of a button or via DMX, analog or show control. It's economical too; the operating costs are only about $2.50 per minute of operation! . The CRYO2 JET is a cryogenic effect system capable of making plumes of cryo fog up to 20-40 feet high. A standard plum nozzle is included with each system and a variety of optional nozzles are available. It’s stainless steel and brass construction yield a very rugged device. The jet system can be used with high pressure liq-uid CO2 tanks or refrigerated liquid Dewar tanks to add to its versa-tility.

Water Effects 

Our water effects can be used safely in audience areas. These effects can be shot into the audience,

thereby "drawing" them into the scene. Geysers are units that propels a columned jet of wa-ter high into the air. They have been used to simulate natural geysers or oil wells. Once the water reaches altitude, it breaks up into tiny droplets, showering the area with a fine mist. This effect is a crowd-refreshing favorite. Our water cannon units are usually used to simulate explosions in water. We offer many different types and sizes of these effects. These cannons can be completely submerged so that the output nozzle is just below the surface of the water. They remain un-noticed until.....BOOM!.....the water explodes. The effect is quickly recharged and ready for another blast. Since they are not pyrotechnic, they are very economical to operate. Rain systems make quite an impact, especially when used indoors. They can be used to cool down for a cue line or as a dramatic part of your show. If your script calls for rain, we can produce it safely for you. We can create a light sprinkle to a total deluge, what-ever you need. If coupled to our air moving and fog systems, an entire storm could be produced. Fountain systems utilize basic technology to pro-duce inexpensive water features. Each feature is independent and can be upgraded.

Confetti Effects We offer a variety of confetti systems. We can trash a city block in 60 seconds! These systems normally throw confetti, but they can also throw puffballs, feathers, nerf balls, promotional items, etc. Confetti Gerb has been used on the Rolling Stones Bridges to Babylon and football games. These units are CO2 powered and can propel up to 50 pounds of confetti! The Confetti Gerb Dual System is a system utilizes two horns for maximum height. The 3"gerb can boost confetti up to 50 feet and is great for indoor venues. The 6"gerb can project confetti up to 150 feet which is perfect for outdoor venues. Either way, each unit can throw 50 pounds of confetti in less than a minute. Each unit operates off of two 50 LB. CO2 siphon tanks. We provide two CO2 hoses with a manual valve for easy installation and use. They may be purchased with or without a road case. The Surprise Box is a fully self-contained confetti effects system. Once the box is loaded, it is ready to go. Simply open the lid and....Surprise! The confetti flies 40 feet or more! Furthermore, no electricity is needed; it is powered by a small CO2 tank. The Streamer Cannon is a large-scale streamer delivery system capable of launching colossal streamer products high into the sky. Spectacular streamer effects are achieved on a stadium-sized scale. The available array of removable mortar tubes allow for easy loading and reloading and can accommodate many types and configurations of streamer products.

Rick Fleming Mr. Fleming is President of Sigma Services, Inc. He has an extensive background in engineering and construction as it relates to entertainment industry. His focus is product development and sales. Russell Clark Mr. Clark is General Manager. His background includes creative designer and pyrotechnic manage-ment. His business and management background assures projects are artistic as well as feasible. His focus is on management and sales. Cathie Murray Ms. Murray manages the office operations of Sigma. She is responsible for the accounting and freight services for both Domestics and Interna-tional. Her focus is operations and color fluid sales. Jerome Engerski Mr. Engerski manages the manufacturing and engi-neering operations. His experience in thinking outside the box has lead to many innovative prod-ucts. His focus is design, manufacturing and instal-lation.
