Achievements & Awards

The Unit 3 of 114 MW Power Plant at Paloncha completed 311 days of uninterrupted operation on 30th June, the longest period of continuous operation since commissioning in the year 2005. This is a significant achievement for a power plant with AFBC Boiler.

The Company’s Unit at Odisha, bagged five

“State Safety Awards” from Directorate of

Factories & Boilers, Government of Odisha

for the years 2011, 2012 and 2013. The Awards

received were:

1. “Best Performance in Safety & Environment Management” for the year 2011. The award was given away by Sj. Prafulla Kumar Mallick, Hon’ble Minister of Steel, Mines, Labour & ESI, Govt. of Odisha.

2. “Best Performance in Safety & Environment Management” for the year 2012. The award was given away by Mrs. Shalini Pandit, IAS, Labour Commissioner, Govt. of Odisha.

3. 1st Prize for “Longest Accident-Free Period” for the year 2012. The award was given away by Sj. Prafulla Kumar Mallick, Hon’ble Minister of Steel, Mines, Labour &

ESI, Govt. of Odisha.

Zambia The construction works of 300 MW Power Project are in full swing at Maamba, Zambia. During the quarter the following major milestones were achieved: 1. Hydro test of Unit-2. 2. Installation of Generator Stators of Units 1

and 2. 3. Installation of Generator Transformers of

Units 1 and 2. 4. Commissioning of Substation for Start-up

power. 5. Launching of Pontoon hosting low-lift pumps

for raw water intake from Kariba Lake.

Laos

The Namphak Power Company Limited (NPCL)

and Electricite Du Laos (EDL) signed, on 11th

June, the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for

150 MW Hydroelectric Power Project in Laos.

Celebrations

The “World Environment Day” was celebrated

at our Units on 5th June. The theme this year

was “Seven billion Dreams, One planet,

Consume with care”. On this occasion, various

competitions were conducted and prizes given

away.

The Company took up plantation of saplings in

Nava Bharat School campus and invited the

Environmental Engineer, RO, TSPCB, Kothagudem

to inaugurate the same by planting a sapling.

NBVL’s staff participated in ‘Swachh Bharat’

exercise all along the compound wall of the

Company, adjacent to Bhadrachalam road.

The “National Electrical Safety Week” was

celebrated in May, at Sugar Division. On this

occasion, a ‘mock drill’ on electric safety was

conducted. Further, do’s and don’ts while

working with electrical equipment were also

explained to workmen.

Social Development To improve sanitation, the company donated 70 push carts, 300 unbreakable bins, along with waste colleting basins, HDPE dry resources bags, jumbo bags, hand gloves, aprons, caps, whistles, and spring balances, to the Municipal Council, Paloncha, in May, in the presence of Mr. Jalagam Venkat Rao, MLA Kothagudem and Mr. Kalicharan S Kartade, IAS, Sub-Collector, Paloncha.

To provide safe drinking water at affordable cost to villagers, the Company installed 9 (nine) RO water plants around the Paloncha Unit. These plants were inaugurated in May and June: at Punukula by Mr.Kalicharan S Kartade, IAS, Sub Collector, Kothagudem; at Pandurangapuram by Mr.C.Saravanan, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Paloncha; at Pusugudem by Mr.D. Surendra Rao, DSP, Kothagudem; at Sanjay Nagar by Mr. Tirumala Rao, Superintendent Engineer, TSNPDCL, Khammam; at Nagaram by Mr. Raghava Reddy, Tahsildar, Paloncha; at Singabhupalem by Mr. Ashoka Chakravarthy, Tahsildar, Kothagudem; at Koyaguden & Tekulapalli by Mr.Koram Kanakaiah, MLA, Yellandu and at Manchikantinagar by Mr.G.Raji Reddy, Commissioner, Paloncha Municipality.

The authorities appreciated the efforts made by

the Company for improving health and hygiene in

the area.

The 1st batch of candidates completed Tally

and DTP courses at Nava Bharat Vocational

Institute (NBVI), Paloncha, in April.

The trainees of 6th batch of Tailoring and Embroidery course and 4th batch of Beautician course completed training at NBVI, Paloncha. The trainees were awarded certificates at a function organized in May. Dr. N. Kishore Reddy, Director, Sri Ramananda Tirtha Rural Institute, Jalalpur, Nalgonda, the Chief Guest of the function, gave away the certificates.

The Sugar Division installed an RO water plant

in Ganapathinagaram, Samalkot Town to

provide safe drinking water to the locals. The

Education Nava Bharat Public School (NBPS) at Paloncha has once again achieved cent per cent results while Nava Bharat High School (NBHS) achieved ninety eight percent results during the academic year 2014-15. Out of the 113 students of NBPS, who appeared for 10th Class Examination, 111 secured distinction and 2 secured first class. Thirty students obtained the maximum possible GPA of 10.

All the students of the Brahmani Public School, Kharagprasad, Odisha (managed by Nava Bharat) who

appeared for X Class Examination (CBSE syllabus) secured first class.
