Vision Statements
Initial Statement
An exemplary technology educator accepts and participates in
the paradigm shift where the students become more so the
investigators and problem solvers and the teacher becomes a
facilitator that guides the students’ learning. Using the goals
of the 21st Century Skills and the Bloom’s Taxonomy, the
educator is able to provide unique learning experiences, which
accommodates their students’ learning styles. The students
are able to learn in a meaningful way and collaborate with their peers. They are
also able to grow analytically to avoid accepting presented information and
analyzing the information for its credibility through research. In addition, an
exemplary technology educator provides a variety of ways that students can
demonstrate their knowledge such as, created animated videos, creating blogs,
etc., which are also tools that the teacher would include in their classroom.
Final Statement
Through this course, I have learned so much more about being able to train others in computer management, but finding more effective ways to get my knowledge to become their knowledge through training. Through the EDU Cause assignment, it heightened my understanding of the tool that I selected. This is important because, often when we walk in to do a workshop, we become the experts and have to train learners that are not familiar. Occasionally, we will have some learners that are on a higher proficiency in that specific tool, so we also need to explore other ways that this tool or concept can be used besides the basic facts to quench their thirst. In addition, we discussed the importance of using a tool meaningfully. In my situation, I will be training educators, whom already do not have enough hours in the day. So, the tool that I am teaching should positively impact their classroom situations and still enable their students to learn and apply their comprehension.
Data was extremely important in this class and ensuring that we were always investigating could this be done in a better way or with a better tool. As far as my beliefs, I believe that this is just a field that consistently sees change. More tools will appear and many tools will become obsolete due to the technology's change and the needs that users will need. The learning environment must always remain encouraging to foster a true learning community, especially in online courses where relationships must be initiated online versus face to face. As an educator, we must continue to analyze our learners to find the problems, provide solutions, and reevaluate to see if that was the true problem. Our research or our duty as an investigator is never over and we will have to continue to find more tools, make sure the tools we are currently using are being used effectively, and increase the strategies that we use to teach others through or about these tools.
