Nomi Prins, Distinguished Political-Financial Expert, Journalist, Senior Fellow at the public policy think tank Demos, author of All the Presidents’ Bankers (2014), It Takes a Pillage: Behind the Bail-outs, Bonuses, and Backroom Deals from Washington to Wall Street (2013), and Other People’s Money: The Corporate Mugging of America (2006), and former investment banker with Goldman sachs, bear stearn, and Lehman brothers, after working at chase manhattan bank as an analyst.

Leslie A. Bailey is a staff attorney at public Justice, where her practice focuses on consumers’ rights, including fighting abusive mandatory arbitration clauses and federal preemption defenses; civil rights; and challenges to unnecessary court secrecy. she recently argued fia card services v. Weaver, --- so.3d ----, 2011 WL 880294 (La. mar. 15, 2011), in which the Louisiana supreme court held that a debt collector cannot enforce an arbitration award against a consumer who never agreed to arbitration; and toe v. cooper tire, where she represents the center for auto safety.

Michael B. Benardo is the Chief of the Cyber Fraud and Financial Crimes Section in the FDIC’s Division of Risk Manage-ment Supervision. he oversees all aspects of fraud-related initiatives, including establishment of regulatory policies and procedures. he is instrumental in developing and implementing fraud-related supervisory programs including examination techniques, and represents the fDic on interagency working groups with a goal of developing consistent interagency programs for combating financial institution fraud.

Monica Vaca is an Assistant Director in the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. ms. vaca works in the ftc’s Division of marketing practices, which litigates civil law enforcement cases, engages in policy work to combat deceptive and unfair practices, and heads up the bureau’s Legal services collabora-tion. for more than a decade, ms. vaca has litigated or supervised litigation against fraudulent merchants, lenders, and payment processing companies.

Justin Baxter is an av rated trial lawyer with baxter & baxter, LLp, in portland, oregon. his national practice focuses on credit reporting and unlawful debt collection cases. in 2007, he obtained a $200,000 verdict against Equifax under the fair credit Reporting act. in 2010, he obtained a $95,000 verdict against tRs home furnish-ings under the oregon Unlawful Debt collection practices act, and a $100,000 verdict against a debt buyer and collection law firm under the fair Debt collection practices act. In 2013, he obtained a verdict against Equifax for $18.5 million.

Lissette Labrousse is a Senior Staff Attorney at Legal Ser-vices of Greater Miami, Inc. she concentrates in foreclosure defense, lien contests and title disputes. ms. Labrousse also focuses on bank-ruptcy and debt collection matters. prior to consumer rights issues, she was the Directing attorney of the Low income tax clinic for 2 years, and before that specialized in domestic violence and other family law cases.

Daniel A. Edelman is a member of Edelman, combs, Latturner & Goodwin, LLc, chicago, illinois. virtually all of his practice involves litigation on behalf of consumers, both class and individual actions. He is the author of the chapters on the “Fair Debt Collection Practices Act,” “Truth in Lending Act,” and “Telephone Consumer Protection Act” in illinois causes of action (ill. inst. for cont. Legal Educ. 2014 and earlier editions).

Chuck Cross is senior vice president of consumer protection and Nondepository supervision for the conference of state bank supervisors. in this role he oversees multistate supervision for mort-gage, money services businesses and other nonbank supervisory areas. additionally, he is responsible for administration of the state coordinating committee in the coordination of the state system with the consumer financial protection bureau (cfpb). Mr. Cross was on detail assignment to the U.S. Department of Treasury as a “Founding Member” of the CFPB Implementation Team from 2010 to 2011.

Elizabeth J. Cabraser is a founding partner of Lieff cabraser heimann & bernstein, LLp, with 35 years’ experience representing plaintiffs and plaintiff classes in securities and financial fraud, product defect, consumer, civil rights, and antitrust litigation. she has served in court-appointed leadership roles in numerous multidistrict litigations and class actions. Ms. Cabraser was named one of National Law Jour-nal’s “100 Most Influential Lawyers in America,” in 1997, 2000, 2006, and 2013. she currently serves on the federal civil Rules advisory committee and chairs the NcLc partners’ council.

Paul Kiel covers consumer finance for ProPublica. His work on the foreclosure crisis was featured in The Best Business Writing 2013. it also won best in business awards from the society of american business Editors and Writers in both 2011 and 2012 and a 2011 scripps howard award for business/economics reporting. he’s produced stories for the Washington Post, USA Today, Slate and American Public Media’s Marketplace, among others.
