September 13 – October 7, 2011Mark Sheppard: IllustrationsMark Sheppard’s clever illustrations take a sly look at contemporary culture through the lenses of such art-historical greats as Hieronymus Bosch and Albrecht Dürer.

October 14 – November 8, 2011Bobby Campbell: WayfindingUsing pieces created in the studio and easily found readymades, Bobby Campbell’s installation will seek to visually reorder the glass cases of the Corridor Gallery, encouraging visual play and developing a new process of “wayfinding.”

January 23 – February 22, 2012Visual Anthropology, Life in DhrangadhraThis group exhibition, created and installed by WKU anthropology students, features thematic explorations of life in Dhrangadhra, India. Experience is brought to life through photographs taken and artifacts collected from a study-abroad trip led by Lindsey Powell (WKU faculty, anthropology) during the summer of 2011.

February 28 – April 10, 2012Jennifer Anderson, EngramJennifer Anderson’s work explores the ephemeral, taking into account the vulnerable delicate nature of life while gently asserting the persistence of memory. A tension between meaning, materials and time exists in this body of work.

MAIN GALLERYAugust 29 – September 24, 2011Harold Winslow, Una Visión de la Mexicanidad(SPONSORED BY KIIS)Reception: Saturday, Sept 24 in conjunction with the Bowling Green International FestivalHarold Winslow was an African-American painter born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1918. In 1940, frustrated by his limited opportunities to develop as an artist in the United States, he traveled to Mexico and enrolled in the prestigious Academy of San Carlos, where he became friends with artists who would one day be among Mexico’s most famous. Winslow spent the rest of his life in Mexico, working as a painter. He became a Mexican citizen in 1951, and continued to produce art and mount exhibitions until his death in Mexico City in August, 2001.

October 3 – November 8, 2011Christopher Olszewski, PaintingsAs an active member of the Chippewa of Mnjikaning First Nation and self-identified “completely assimilated Native American,” Christopher Olszewski makes paintings and installations that combine the creative visual language of the Northern Woodland people with western art traditions and modernist/postmodernist philosophy, as he works towards developing the Native American image beyond the “Souvenier Shop.”

January 23 – February 22, 2012Arturo Rodriguez, Transformations and JourneysArturo Rodriquez’ work, ranging from painting to sculpture, is heavily influenced by the printmaking process in which he was trained. His pieces struggle to steer their way through the tension between his native Cuban and inherited American cultures, and express his experiences as a refugee/immigrant.
