• Introduction to Visual Art. Art as a field of human endeavour is concerned with

expression of ideas,thoughts and feelings in a creative manner.It is an expression of knowledge,skills and significant ideas for the benefit of mankind.

The following are the areas in the field of art.• Visual art(fine and applied)__Fine art is an art whose visual

products serve decorative purpose e.g drawing,painting,sculpture while applied art is a form of art whose products serve a functional purpose e.g graphics,textiles,ceramics

• Performing or Non visual art__This aspect of art comprises music,dance ,poetry,drama,journalism.

Values of art to the society

• Homes: Household utensils like pots,jugs,ceramics,canechairs in our homes

• Art in the community:An aspect of art (architecture)is responsible for the structural designs of the buidings in our society.

• Art in industries:In the textile industries ,artist produce the designs which are later reproduced with machine.

• Art in religion:Sacred art inspire worshippers and are often used to represent the unseen God or god.

• Art in commerce:Artist make notable contributions in the field of commerce by producing well designed packages to increace the delight of purchacers
