RackLoadout:HowCuesarematcheduptoRacks

Aqeracuehasbeendeterminedtoberackable,aseriesofmatchingrulesareappliedtotrytoplacethiscueintoarack.AsmenNonedearlier,foracuetoberackableitmusthaveaPOSvalue,itmusthaveaCALvalueanditmusthavesomecorrectvalueineitherANGLEorTILT.TherestricNonsforthecueANGLEorTILTvaluesareasfollows:

1. IfANGLEisnon-blank,thenitisused.OtherwisethevalueinTILTisused.

2. ThevalueofANGLEcanspecifyaracknameandthatwillbetheprioritywhenplacingthiscue.However,ifallinstancesoftherackspecifiedarefull,thenregularrulesforrackmatchingareapplied

3. ThevalueofANGLE(orTILT)canbeasingleanglesuchas"90"

4. ThevalueofANGLE(orTILT)canbehyphenseparatedsuchas"45-90-135"forafan.Forthiscuetobeplacedintoarack,thatrackmusthavearowwithatleast45-90-135anglesbasedonanexactmatchorwildcardusage.

5. Inallcases,theQTYcolumnmustaccuratelyreflecthowmuchproduct(andthereforehowmanytubes)arerequired.Forexampleintheabovefan,thenQTYwouldbe3.

Whenrackmatchingstarts,wesortthescriptbyPOSvalue.ThisgroupsthecuesbythePOStheyareat.WethentakeeachcueatthatposiNonandtrytofindamatchingrack.IfamatchisfoundandthatrackisemptyitisassignedtothatPOS.ArackcanonlybeinonePOS,soifadifferentPOSalsoneedsthistypeofrack,itwillrequireanewinstanceofthisrack.TheRackInfoDBMAGAZINEvaluetellsushowmanyinstancesofthisrackwehavetospreadaroundthedifferentposiNons.ThevaluesofthecueCALandANGLE(orTILT)arelookedatduringthismatchingprocess.WetryseveralNmestofindthebestmatchbetweenthecueandtheracks.Foreachofthe'bestmatch'comparisonswelookateveryrackinourinventory.Racksareignoredforseveralreasonslikeithasbeenmadeunavailable,itisRESERVE,itisalreadyinaPOSthatisnotoursortheyarealreadyfull.WestartwiththemoststrictmatchingcriteriaandkeeplooseningthecriteriaunNlwehaveamatchorcan'tfindanyrackininventorythatwilldo.Ifwefindatleastonerackininventorythatwouldhaveworked,butwasnotavailabletous,wemarkthatcuewiththatracknamebutleavetheInstanceblank.ThiswayyouknowwhatwefeltwasthebestmatchsoyoumayaddtotheRackInfoDBMAGAZINEvalue.IfwewereunabletofindanyracksthatmatchourcueCALandANGLEwemarkthatcuewith<<NOMATCH>>rackname.Theorderofthematchcriteriais:

1. Thecue'sANGLEcolumnhasaRackNameinit.Ifwehavearackwho'snameexactlymatchesthenameintheANGLEcolumnwejustuseitifitisavailableandnotfull.Ifwecan'tfindthenameorallinstancesofthatrackareunavailableweconNnue.TheRackInfoDBhasacolumncalledRESERVEthatifsettoYES,reservesthisracktypeforonlyexactnamematches.IftheRESERVEissettoNO,thenitwillalsobeusedbyCAL/ANGLEmatching.

2. WelookforanexactmatchoftheCALandANGLEvaluestotherackCALandANGLESvalues.SoforexampleofCALwas"30"andANGLEwas"90"wemustfindarackthathasCALandANGLESof"30"and"90"respecNvely.IftheCALis"20"andtheANGLEis"15-30-45"wemusthavearackwiththeCALof"30"andtheexactANGLESof"15-30-45".IfnoexactmatchisfoundweconNnue.

3. WelookforawildcardmatchofCALandanexactmatchofANGLE.Thiswouldbearackwho'sCALvalueisalist(like"20-40-60")orarange(like"20*60").IfourCALmatchesone

ofthevaluesinthelistorfallswithinthespecifiedrangewecheckANGLEforanexactmatch.IfnomatchisfoundweconNnue.

4. WelookforanexactmatchofCALandawildcardmatchofANGLE.Thiswouldbearackwho'sCALvalueisexactlyamatch,buttheANGLEvaluefindsawildcardmatch.SoforexampleifthewithacueCALof"20"andanANGLEof"45"ifwefindarackwithCALof"20"andANGLESof"30-45-90"itwouldmatchasthereisa"45"spotintherowofangles.WewouldalsomatchonarackwithaCALof"20"andANGLESof"10*80"as45fallswithintherangeof10to80degrees.IfnomatchisfoundweconNnue.

5. FinallywelookforawildcardmatchofCALandawildcardmatchofANGLES.Thisisaswideopenofamatchaswecanmakelookingforanypossibleracktoputthiscueinto.

Onceamatchingrackisfound,wechecktoseeifthereareenoughtubesavailableinthisrackbasedonthecuesQTYvalue.Ifthereare,weusethisrack.Ifnot,weconNnueeitherfindinganotherinstanceofthisrackorlookingforanotherracktypethatmatches.Let'stakealookataverysimpleScriptandalimitedRackInfoDBandseehowmatchingwouldwork.OurRackInfoDB:

b) Load:takethereportandappliestheselectedcolumnhide/show,filterandsortthecurrentscriptdependingonhowthereportwascustomized.

c) Print:displaysthePrintPreview.ThisbuDonisdimmedifyoursystemhasnoconfiguredprinter.

d) Add:addthereporttoyoursetofcustomreports.Ifthenamealreadyexists,itoverwritesthissetwiththenewdata.

e) Save:savestheselectedreportinanExcelspreadsheet.

MergeEffectsManagerThiswillcombineafilewiththecurrentEffectManagerthatisloaded.Itwelladdreferencesnotfoundinthecurrentmanager.

MatchingreferenceswillbeoverwriDen,however,youmaychoosenottooverwritesomecolumns.

OnlythecolumnsthatareselectedwillbeoverwriDen.

ThereisalsoaMergeopNonthatwillfindeffectinyourcurrentEffectManagerthatarenotinthemergingEffectManagerandremovethem.ThisfeatureissothatyoucanmergeintoyourcurrentmanageronlythosecolumnsyouhaveselectedandsNllremovenon-overlappingeffects.
