1 Preface

Kony Platform provides an integrated approach in the design development andmanagement of

mobile applications The Platform facilitates the design and development of mobile applications in a

device independent manner and delivers them in different formats that run on all themajor device

platforms

11 Purpose

This document explains how to install Kony Platform including Kony Visualizer and additional

software on your Windows computer using an installer program

12 Intended Audience

This document is intended for engineers or developers who are responsible for installing and

configuring Kony Visualizer It is assumed that the reader of this document is familiar with installing

applications in aWindows environment

Read this section to understand the system requirements and necessary software before installing

Kony Visualizer

Note Download only those SDKs for which you would develop applications Relevant download

URLs are provided in the Installing SDKs and Configuring Emulators section

Note By default Kony Visualizer installs Java version JDK 170_67 If you have installed any

other versions of 17 installation will continue with your version of Java

Download Kony Visualizer Installer from the communitykonycomdownloads to a location on your

machine

1 Kony Visualizer

2 (Optional) Visualizer plug-in for Adobe Photoshop

31 Prerequisites

l Administrative rights on your computer to install Kony Visualizer

l The default installation folder for Kony Visualizer isCKonyVisualizer During the

installation you can choose a different location if you wish Ensure that there is at least 4 GB of

space available in the system drive where you install Kony Visualizer

l The Visualizer installer requires HTTP (direct or proxied) access during the execution of the

installation process

l TheltInstall DrivegtKony_Kony_Visualizer_installationLogs

directory contains the log files documenting each invocation of the installer or uninstaller

Provide these log files to Konywhen reporting an issue to help expedite problem identification

l In case the installation is canceled the logs are generated in either desktop or installation path

l If you cancel the installation before Choose Install Folder screen the logs are generated

in desktop

l If you cancel the installation after Choose Install Folder screen the logs are generated in

the installation folder

32 Installation Procedure

To install Kony Visualizer using the installer follow these steps



1 Downloaded the installer file

2 Double-clickKonyVisualizerSetup-ltversiongtexe file The installer extracts the

files After few minutes the Kony Visualizer Introduction pane appears



3 Click Next The License Agreement pane appears

4 Read the License Agreement If you accept the terms of the agreement click I accept the

terms of the License Agreement button and then click Next

5 The Prerequisites pane displays the prerequisites needed to install and use Kony Visualizer It

also checks the availability of the required software



Android SDK Home

a Choose - Click Choose to select the folder on the drive where Android SDK

is installed

b Restore Default Folder - After you chose a folder if you want to install the

SDK in the default folder provided by the installer click this button

Important The SDK availability information provided in this pane is for information only and

is not required to install Kony Visualizer You can install the required SDKs after finishing

the installation

6 Click Next The Download Sources pane appears The pane provides links to the required

platformSDKs Click on the links to download and install the SDKs



7 Click Next The Choose Install Folder pane appears

8 Type or select the path to install the Kony Visualizer The default location is the

CKonyVisualizerEnterprise700 folder



The pane has two options

a Choose - Click Choose to select a folder on the drive where you want to install

Kony Visualizer

b Restore Default Folder - After you chose a folder for installation if you want to

install Kony Visualizer in the default folder provided by the installer click this button

9 Click Next A review pane appears Ensure that the information that appears is correct If not

click Previous and go back to correct what needs to be corrected





10 Click Install



11 After the installation is complete the Proxy Settings pane appears

If you are behind a proxy server and need to configure the proxy settings click these links to take

you to relevant information that allows you to configure the proxy settings For more information

on configuring proxy settings see Appendix A Configuring NTLMand Proxy Settings

12 Click Next The Install Complete pane appears with themessage of successful installation

13 Select Launch Kony Visualizer option and click Done The Kony Visualizer application

launches and a shortcut icon will be placed on desktop



14 Click Done

15 After the installation is complete you can see the Kony folder added to your drive

4 Launching Kony Visualizer Enterprise

The installer creates shortcuts to the Kony Visualizer on the desktop and in the install folder You can

launch Kony Visualizer using the shortcut

To launch Kony Visualizer follow these steps

1 Double-click theKony Visualizer shortcut on the desktop

Note You could also navigate to the folder where Kony Visualizer is installed and double-

click theKony Visualizer shortcut to launch Kony Visualizer

2 TheWorkspace Launcher window appears

A workspace is a folder on the hard drive which is a central repository of all application files The

applications you create in the IDE are saved in the workspace A workspace can have any

number of applications The default workspace has some sample applications



3 The default workspace isCUsersltUser FoldergtKonyVizEWS

It is a good idea to choose this workspace as this contains the sample applications to start with

The workspace is created only once even if you install multiple instances of Kony Visualizer and

is not deleted when you uninstall Kony Visualizer (allowing you to use the applications created in

the workspace in another instance of Kony Visualizer)

If you are an advanced user you can create your ownworkspace

4 ClickOK The launch process continues

5 Install and Configure Platform SDKs and Their Emulators

Mobile applications that are developed in Kony Visualizer need to be tested for appearance and

performance To do this you need device emulators These emulators are provided by the device

manufacturers or mobile platform vendors

For information on how to configure SDK and APIs see Visualizer User Guide

6 Uninstalling Kony Visualizer

Note Kony Visualizer cannot be uninstalled in aWindows 10machine

To uninstall Kony Visualizer follow these steps

1 Use one of the following options to uninstall Kony Visualizer

a Navigate to the folder where Kony Visualizer is installed Eg ltInstall

DrivegtKony Double-click the Uninstall shortcut

b Navigate toltInstall DrivegtKony_Kony Visualizer_

installation folder and double-click Change Kony Visualizer Installation

c Navigate to Start gt Control Panel gt Programs and Features From the available list of

programs select Kony Visualizer and click Uninstall

The Uninstall Kony Visualizer pane appears





2 Click Uninstall The Uninstall Confirmation pane appears



3 ClickOK The Uninstall Kony Visualizer progress pane appears

Once the process is complete the Uninstall Complete pane appears



4 Select the restart option if you like to restart the system and click Done

Note The uninstaller cannot remove the filesdirectories that were not installed or copied by

the installer Those are the filesdirectories that are created as you use Kony Visualizer (for

example log files and corresponding directories) You canmanually delete those

filesdirectories

7 Upgrade Kony Visualizer

This section explains how to upgrade Kony Visualizer from update site

Before you begin upgrading ensure the following

l You are connected to Internet

l Current license is still valid to upgrade Kony Visualizer

l Valid credentials to access the KonyCommunity Portal

Important

- Upgrading from previous versions of Kony Visualizer to Visualizer 7 is not possible through the

plugins Youmust use the latest Visualizer 7 installer to upgrade fromKony Visualizer

- You can revert to older version if you find some feature is not working as expected after

upgrading to the latest version

To upgrade to latest version of Kony Visualizer follow these steps



1 Launch Kony Visualizer

2 Navigate to Help gt Install New Software The Install dialog appears



3 Click Add option in theWork with area

The Add Repository dialog appears

4 Type a name for the update site (for example Kony Updatesite)

5 Type the URL location in the Location box

a Use the following URLs to download the installer files

i 64-bit installer httpdownloadkonycomVisualizerxxsitexml

ii Mac Installer httpdownloadkonycomVisualizerxxmacsitexml

Note Here xx denotes the release number For example to download the 56

64-bit installer files the installer link will be

Note To upgrade to a hotfix prefix hotfix to the above URLs as shown

b For hotfix release use the following URLs

i 64-bit installer httpdownloadkonycomVisualizerxxhotfixsitexml

ii Mac Installer httpdownloadkonycomVisualizerxxhotfixmacsitexml

Note Here xx denotes the release number

7 After successful authentication the Install dialog appears and shows the available plug-ins

from the update site



Note For example if you are using 700GA plug-ins and want to upgrade to 701GA

plug-ins but if Kony has already released 702GA plug-ins then 702GA plug-ins appear

8 You can perform the following actionswith checkboxes displayed at the bottom of the window

a Show only the latest versions of available software box is used to control whether all

versions or only the latest versions of software are displayed in the list

b Group items by category box is used to control whether the items should be grouped in

categories or listed by name

c Show only software applicable to target environment box is used to control whether

the software that is applicable to the target environment should be shown in the list



d Contact all update sites during install to find required software box is used to control

whether all software sites will be contacted when looking for requirements

e Hide items that are already installed box is used to control whether the installed items

should be displayed in the list

9 To display all the plug-ins available for a particular platform clear Show only the latest

versions of available software For example if Androids latest plug-in is 502GA then all the

plug-ins 500GA 501GA and 502GA appear

10 Expand each item select the required plug-ins and click Next The Install Details dialog

appears

11 Review the plug-ins displayed You can use the Back option tomodify your selection

12 Click Next to continue

13 If you get an error message asCannot complete the install because of a conflicting dependency

click Back option and select all features and click Next The Install Review Licenses dialog

appears

Note Platform featureswill have interdependency that may conflict with your existing plugi-

ns In those situations the error message displays

14 Review the Kony Solutions License Agreement and click I accept the terms of the license

agreement

15 Click Finish The Installing Software dialog appears

During the installation process a Security Warning dialog appears

16 ClickOK

17 After the installation is completed an information dialog appears to restart Kony Visualizer for

changes to take effect

18 Click Restart Now button to restart Kony Visualizer



71 Downloading previous versions of Plug-ins

If you want to download other versions of Kony Visualizer follow these steps

1 Clear the Show only latest versions of available softwarebox to browse for available

software

2 All the available versions of software will be displayed

3 Enter the required version in the type filter texttext box

4 The list of software for the selected version will be displayed

5 Select the software and click Next to install

72 Troubleshoot Error Message

While adding repository youmay encounter the following error message Thismessage occurs when

duplicate locations are entered or if log on credentials are not entered for location in the first instance

To resolve the error follow these steps

1 In the Install dialog click Available Software Sites link

The Preferences dialog appears

2 Select the entry from the Available Software Sites and click Remove

Important Ensure you do not have duplicate entries of the Location If you still encounter the error

message close Kony Visualizer and start again When you solve the error message continue with

step 5

8 Revert to Previous Configuration

To revert to the previous plugins of Kony Visualizer

1 Open Kony Visualizer

2 On the Helpmenu click About Kony Visualizer



3 The About Kony Visualizer window appears Click Installation Details

4 The Kony Visualizer Installation Details window appears In the Installed Software tab the

current installed version of Kony Visualizer is detailed For example you can see the plugins

version that were upgraded in the above procedure



5 Click the Installation History tab The tab displays all the Previous configurations with date

and time and the plugins installed during each configuration



6 Select the configuration that you want to rollback and click Revert

7 A confirmation window appears with amessage This operation required restarting the

workbenchWould you like to proceed Click Yes to proceed

8 After the process is completed a confirmation window appears with amessage Youwill need to

restart Kony Visualizer for the changes to take effect Would you like to restart now Click Yes

to restart Kony Visualizer

If you have NTLMauthentication configured at your proxy you need to add the following

configurations in Kony Visualizer

This appendix explains a few Frequently AskedQuestions (FAQs) and answers

Problems with Kony Visualizer installationIn case there were problems with your installation install complete page shows a warning and the logs location

ie path to the installation directory

Visualizer displays improper Workspace Error

Youmay encounter this issue when you accidentally click on the launch button twice AnImproper

Workspace error is displayed as two instances try to access the sameworkspace

To resolve the error close the error window and any other related window that is open and re-launch Eclipse

Kony not visible in Open Perspective window during the installation of Kony VisualizerKony Visualizer perspective does not show up in the Open Perspective window if compatsoapui_xxx plug-

in is not available in the pluginsdropins folder of Eclipse Ensure that the plug-in is available in the

pluginsdropins folder of Eclipse

Kony Visualizer Crashes - Eclipse OutOfMemoryErrorThis error is caused if insufficient memory is allocated to the Eclipse instance This can be solved by increasing

themax heap size allocated to Eclipse

To assign additional memory follow these steps

1 Navigate to the Kony Visualizer installation folder

2 Right-click Eclipse icon and click Show Package Contents



The Contents folder appears

3 Right-click eclipse-origini and open with Text Editor application



4 Add additional memory to the following line -Xmx512m

Example Add 1024 in place of 512

5 Save the file and launch Kony Visualizer

Kony Visualizer Crashes - Eclipse OutOfMemoryError - PermGen spaceThis is caused if insufficient PermGenmemory is allocated to the Eclipse instance This can be solved by

increasing themax PermGen size allocated to Eclipse
