(SANE), Office of Evaluation, University of New Mexico. Principle duties encompassed
coding, data analysis, and report writing for a five-year review of the SANE unit in the
Albuquerque, New Mexico area.
Jun, 2001 – Aug, 2001: Child Occupant Protection Program, Field Research Assistant and Team Leader:
Attitude and Practice Survey (KAP), Office of Evaluation at the University of New
Mexico. Duties included traveling to six Northern New Mexico Communities,
interviewing via prepared interview instrument for the collection of quantitative data on
seat belt use and car safety in New Mexico. In addition, team work and shared
responsibilities as rotating team leaders required coordination of work protocol,
organization of materials, and write up and presentation to Project Coordinator.
Oct, 1999 – Feb, 2001: Native American Diabetes Project, Research Assistant, Strong in Body and
Spirit! University of New Mexico. Responsibilities included utilizing anthropological
skills in the observation, evaluation, and analysis of community health education training
programs on diabetes. Additional responsibilities included nation wide program
development, travel and participation observation, evaluation, and interviewing of
community participants in training sessions. Report writing, development of interview
protocols for focus group interviews were additional responsibilities, as were the design
of consensus coding protocols and team coordination, and analysis of qualitative data.
Feb, 1999 – Oct, 1999: Masters in Public Health, Research Assistant to the Public Health Outreach
Education Program (PHOEP). Responsibilities included design, data entry, preliminary
analysis, and preparation of various needs assessment surveys. Additional duties
included literature searches and compilation of course materials, design of fliers, posters,
and advertisement of PHOEP courses, general organization of PHOEP workshop
arrangements and materials, as well as design and collaboration of team consensus
coding. In addition, responsibilities included knowledge of the following computer
programs (MS Word, Excel, SPSS, Power Point, and Access) for the design and
production of class and lecture slides, calendar organization, data analysis, and the
organization of deliverables on several grants.
Jan, 1998 – Dec, 1998: Research Assistant for the Department of PEDS/School and Community Health,
University of New Mexico, CDC study on tobacco and youth. Job responsibilities
included transcript cleaning and word processing preparation for entry into Nudist (a
computer qualitative data analysis tool), working in MS Word 95, Microsoft office 1997,
consensus coding, data analysis, and report writing.
