Allof these recipes requireup tohalf agallonofwater (2quarts)dependingon theamount of ice and fruits used. You can use drinkable tap water. Best if filtered orpurified.

Youcaneasilypickupsome2quart jarswithlidsfromAmazonoryourlocalstore.Glassisthebestcontainerasitallowsthevitaminsandflavorstocomeoutfullywithoutany interference. Asealedglass jarwillhelpkeepyourwater tastingfreshforup to3daysintherefrigerator.

Woodenspoon

Besides stirring,wooden spoon is used for lightly smashing fruit tohelp release thejuiceormuddleherbstohelpreleasetheflavoroftheherbs.IrecommendthatyoudonotuseplasticduetotheimpuritiesandBPAthatcanbecontainedinmanyplasticitems.

Fruit

Freshfruitisbestifitisinseason.Ifnot,frozenfruitwillworkreallywellsincefruitisgenerallyfrozenduringitspeakofripeness.

FreshVegetables

Thereareonlyasmallhandfulofvegetablesthatareusefulforflavoringwater.Oneofmyfavoritevegetablestouseiscucumber.

Herbs

Driedorfresh(oftencomplementfruitflavorswell).Mintisoneofmyfavoriteherbsto use but you can certainly use other herbs like sage, rosemary, basil, thyme, andlavender.

Youmayuseastrainingdevicethatcanbepurchasedtoscrewontopofyourcontainersoyourwatergetsstrainedasyoupourit.

Chef’sAdditionalTips1.Toinfusetheflavorandvitaminsfromfruitsandherbs,simplysmashitdownwith

thewoodenspoontohelpextractthejuiceout.

2.Ifyouwanttomakeitalittlesweeter,youmayaddasmallamountofsugar(stillmuchhealthierthananysoda)orStevia(powderorliquidform).Thesesweetenerscanbeaddedtotheindividualglassofwaterortothepitcher/jar.(Ipersonallyfindthatthefruithasitsownfaintsweetnessandchoosetopassontheadditionalsweeteners.)
