Hybrid is the new norm
What is Hybrid Cloud?
PRIVATE

TRADITIONAL ON-PREMISES IT
Successful hybrid clouds should deliver:• Enhanced developer productivity• Seamless integration and portability• Insightful data and analytics• Superior visibility, control and security
• Hybrid cloud is a cloud computing environment which uses a mixture of on-premises, private cloud and third-party, public cloud services
• Orchestration Services allow systems to be dynamically created and workloads to be deployed and moved between private and public clouds as computing needs and costs change

The need for connectivity is growing everyday
Connectivity in business infrastructure is increasing
• More information, more systems, more services, deployed anywhere
Connect systems together• Deliver timely updates of
targeted data• Gain business insight• Applications and data
become valuable assets, not growing costs
New sources of data are changing the world• However data without
connectivity becomes a burden not an asset

Already Have APIs?
Companies already have web services, which can be exposed as APIs
Software vendors are adding API support to existing products to pass through data from a system of record unchanged; aka

System APIs should be managed and secured to protect enterprise systems:
Where are they published? Which developers can discover them? Which applications can access them? How

Point-to-Point (application-to-application)One to one relationship between sending- and receiving-applicationsLoose coupling ensures flow can be easily changed
A typical use of point-to-point messaging is to request a service from another application
Publish/subscribe (distributing events and data)One to many relationship between sending- and receiving-applicationsAn application can send (publish) data to a single destination, and let IBM MQ distribute that data to other applications (subscribers). The publisher defines a topic for the information, and the subscriber specifies what topics it wants to receive.

MQ Advanced Message Security
Application A
§ IBM MQ has many built in security features including: – Control over administration commands (e.g. MQSC for a queue manager).– Fine grained control over access to resources (e.g. queues).– Secure communications (e.g. TLS and access controls).– Extensible architecture which can be customised to meet the demands of an individual business.
§ When the privacy of sensitive data must be guaranteed, businesses use IBM MQ Advanced Message Security (AMS), a chargeable component for IBM MQ.
§ The data is encrypted from the point it leaves the sending application to the point it enters the receiving application.
§ The encryption is controlled by policies on the queue manager so no changes are required to existing applications.

MQ Managed File Transfer
Application BApplication A
Loggingcomponent
§ When businesses need to configure, track, and audit file transfer activity in a consistent way, they use Managed File Transfer (MFT), sold as two chargeable components of IBM MQ (MFT Service and MFT Agent).
§ MFT Service installs a file transfer agent on a server with additional capabilities:– Protocol bridge agents which are used to send and receive files
with legacy FTP, FTPS, or SFTP servers.
§ An MFT Agent performs the fundamental file transfer function of sending and receiving files from the local system. (distributed MQ ONLY) – When requested to send a file, an agent reads the file’s contents
and sends it to the destination agent over IBM MQ channels in the form of one or more MQ messages.
– An optional logging component stores the contents of file transfer log messages.
§ An MQ Explorer integrated GUI or command-line is used to configure and administer MFT.
Channels
IBM MQ Advanced for z/OS VuEmakes it easier for clients to buy and deploy all the IBM MQ z/OS server capabilities they need within a single purchase.
• Targeted at new workloads to the z/OS platform running in zNALCLPARs.
IBM MQ Advanced for z/OS VuE is an OTC bundle that provides entitlement to IBM MQ for z/OS VuE, IBM MQ Managed File Transfer for z/OS and IBM MQ Advanced Message Security.
